I wish I didn't have to leave this review. We are regular customers and avid costumers. We have purchased hundreds of dollars worth of costume supplies over the years. However, we went in today and the absolute worst customer service. We are a family of four and we're each wanting to try on a few different costumes. This has never been a problem before. The attendant told us that he "wasn't going to bother getting more than two costumes from the back." I'm sorry, but isn't that exactly his job? We would have most likely purchased 4-8 costumes today at $60+ each. Thanks to his rudeness, we bought none. Will be heading to Party City or Spirit Halloween or amazon to get our costumes from now on. read more

Great company, and very helpful. I placed an order for a costume for gloves, and ordered the wrong color. It was my mistake. They were extremely helpful in fixing my order, and the correct order was shipped right away. I received both orders within days. If I need similar costumes apparel, I would not hesitate to order from Akron Design. read more

Akron Design goes above and beyond for customer service! Last year I rented an eagle costume from Akron Design to wear in our local 4th of July parade. The service was so good that I rented again this year. Unfortunately, we had a misunderstanding where Akron was expecting a faxed contract and I e-mailed it. They never saw it. We uncovered the error on July 3 - too late for them to send me the costume. I'm in Virginia. Over my protests (I didn't want someone's holiday weekended messed up.), Paulette from Akron drove the costume 51/2 hours to my home - saving the day! Thank you, Paulette!!! Akron Design & Costume started with a love of crafting costumes. Since we opened in 1980, we've expanded four times, the most recent expansion was in 1999. You'll find over 35,000 rental pieces for theatre, shows, schools, and playhouses. We ship anywhere in the USA. We carry rental mascots for corporate events, private parties,even kids birthday party characters. We custom make corporate / school mascots. I had ordered a set of 5 balloons and then a number 5 ballon as well. Let me start with the large balloons were great and my kiddo loved them very much. Now for the "regular" smaller balloons, I have to wonder when they were actually filled with air because less than 12 hours after pick up they are already hanging at halfway between the floor and the ceiling. I noticed pretty quickly once we got home that they didn't seem quite as full as some of the other ones. The prices there aren't super cheap so it was upsetting to me that within a couple of hours the balloons there already failing. I've gotten balloons before from grocery stores and such and know they should last much longer than these did. I would go back again in person to purchase to make sure they are being filled as I order....but I would never again trust them to do any balloons via online ordering or curbside.
