A pretty cute and small aquarium that would definitely be great for a morning with kids! Would recommend going right when they open in the morning, as that's when they reliably feed the penguins otters and sea lions in the open! We were even lucky enough to see some of the crabs get fed. There aren't too many fish tanks and most of the tanks are on the small side. They have some interactive elements, including a 360 cinema room that demonstrated the sounds heard within the oceans. My husband was set on the aquarium because his friend that lived in Bergen recommended it. We had fun, but this is mainly for kids. There was a very friendly sea lion, and another one that had a shifty eye. It made our day. We just walk from our hotel. From the Bryggen is about 20-30 minutes walk depending if you get a little lost. But I guess is part of the experience. read more

A cute date spot for a nice day. Beautiful walk there through some of the more adorable old houses in Bergen, many great parks to and places for ice cream. But particularly great for kids (the mini shows which teach you about the amazing animals and their personalities are in Norwegian and English), not big but big enough with all the shows if you time them correctly. The penguin babies (late spring) are particularly cute if you are here around May/June. The food is nothing spectacular so be sure to eat before you head out there. Also, the area behind the aquarium (it's right on the water) is a prime spot for watching the boats and tall ships in the summer. read more

I guess if you're under 10 years old this place is pretty cool. I'm from the Bay Area and have visited the San Francisco Aquarium and the fantastic Monterey Bay Aquarium. Now I wasn't expected to be blown away by this place, but I was completely disappointed. The exhibits were run down and poorly taken care of. I actually felt a little depressed looking at the animal exhibits because it just didn't seem humane to keep them in such conditions. Kids pounding and screaming at the glass. Just sad. Like I said, this place is for kids, and adults will be bored. They have touch pools and interactive areas. The exhibits varied from snakes and reptiles, to sharks and fish. Honestly, I didn't spend too much time here. Maybe an hour and half, and I had completed a lap around all the exhibits. Getting to the aquarium from the Bergen harbor, you take a little putput boat for around NOK 70 roundtrip. From there it's a quick five minute walk uphill to the aquarium. Admission was NOK 270. So not worth the money. read more
