Al followed up immediately about scheduling a Time to have 6 knives sharpened... that had never been sharpened in 10+ years. We scheduled a time to deliver the knives. He said he could do it while I waited. He showed me how to determine if a knife was dull ) other than it not cutting properly) by holding the blade up and looking for any reflection on the knife blade edge. A reflection indicated the edge was dull and a sharpened blade would not show a reflection because nothing to reflect. Al completed the job in 20 minutes. I've been lucky enough to hear about this great knife maker years ago and live nearby. I finally contacted him to purchase a knife as a gift and Mr. Warren did not disappoint. I wanted a bird and trout knife with a slightly larger blade and sambar stag handles which he was able to accommodate. Living in the area Mr. Warren let me come by and pick it up which was nice and allowed me to talk with him for a bit about his process. He makes practically everything himself, even the sheaths.
