It felt like kids couldn't just be kids without someone expecting them to be perfectly quiet or worrying about breaking a rule. Instead of feeling like a fun family campground, it felt overly strict and lacking the welcoming, relaxed environment we were hoping for. If you're looking for a place where families can let their kids have fun and make memories, this may not be the best choice. It seems more geared toward people who want a very quiet, heavily regulated resort rather than an active, family-friendly campground. Unfortunately, we left feeling like the focus was more on enforcing rules than creating an enjoyable experience for families. We won't be returning.

Then the lady who booked us also told us the electric was 15-20$ but we are being charged almost 100.00 for the electric. Then Sid gave my husband a job in May and on our move out date, he changed his mind on. And my husband is extremely hard working and will go above and beyond for his employer. But your employees barely do anything. They just pick up the trash bag and that's it. The employees you have working here are so rude and they make up rules as they go.. If they do not want smokers smoking in certain places, put up signs where you do not want people to smoke at! I have never seen them even test the pool and I run every morning! All they do is pick up the trash at the end of the driveways. This park has potential but they need to hire people who are actually willing to work! I have even heard customers complain about how nasty the cabins are. They never clean the inflatables either! We have spent a lot of money to be mistreated. And not to be able to use the ammentities you guys supposedly offer because your employees refuse to actually clean them! Not to mention, I've walked around this park every night cleaning the loose trash (3-4 trash bags) that your employees are to lazy to do. 10/10 this place isn't worth it! This wasn't even that bad

I've spotted alligators, blue heron, turtles, lizards.. very cool! All the campsite hosts are friendly and our check-in was very easy and we were also greeted with welcoming service. We chose campsite number 479 right next to Mission Lake and the pedestrian bridge that takes you to the ocean. This campground is so clean, beautiful, and offers multiple bathrooms with showers and restrooms. The bathrooms are clean and the showers have enough space to shower and change. Each campsite I've seen has a dump station and water, which has come in handy. There's also Wi-Fi! There's also a restaurant on the campgrounds and tomorrow night we are going to listen to live music and have a few drinks. I've truly loved my stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone! We were only going to stay for four nights but we extended it to a week because we are having such a great time.

The speed limit is 5 MPH and we all obey (low dust and much safer). Friendly folk stay here. Some use it as a base to explore the area, some to recharge their batteries. The office has two single person bathrooms with a bathroom (cleanest and best smelling bathroom I've ever used). Sit by the bay or go fishing from the pier while George the Heron waits for handouts. Evenings feature a social circle around the chimera. This campground is a hidden gem 15 minutes from the hub-bub of activity. Well-behaved dog friendly with a designated walking area. No playground, pool or game room, but the office has books and games to borrow, as well as a coffeemaker. Laundry and Ice are on site. Going west, you can go to Fort Morgan of take the ferry to Dauphin Island (check out Sassy Bass bar and grill). Going east, you have Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and all the Gulf activities you can afford. BTW... go grocery shopping at Rouses, excellent deli, great seafood and meat (aged beef) and ready cooked food. Happy Pappy Coffee is my favorite stopping place.

The bathhouse, laundry room, activity room, gym, and pool were all well maintained. They have trash pick up at your site at 10:00. They clean restrooms at 11:30. It's all laid out so you can plan your day. A lot of loungers and chairs at the pool. They put us on the outside line for campers and we were grateful to not be in the middle backed up to another camper. Staff were all very friendly. We will for sure return to this campground.

I provided ample notice and understand that unforeseen circumstances happen. We also had to cancel several other resorts at even longer stays and those resorts were very understanding and offered full refunds or minimal fees for cancellations ($25-$50). Unfortunately, Sugar Sands refused to issue any refund at all, keeping our payment despite the significant lead time. It was disappointing to see such a lack of flexibility. It appears they are likely to re-rent the site to another guest, effectively making double the profit, which adds to the frustration. Overall, this experience was disappointing and should serve as a warning to others considering a stay. Just don't go here because there are way more realistic, accommodating resorts!

The fact it is located right on a small stretch of inter coastal waterway makes it worth the while to stay here. However you have to tune out the constant traffic noise of the over pass directly above! The people are nice, but the row of campers permanently parked along the water leaves 2 spots available for transient people coming through. Otherwise, your in a mobile home park complete with old broken down trailers and all sorts of broken machinery around including old vehicles outside of old worn out decks and custom awnings. People have grown out of their trailers and have refrigerators and "junk" strewn about everywhere. In spite of that it is safe and the people are nice who have the view. They have it all! The rest have to deal with looking st each other and talking over the road noise. Pot holes fill the streets guaranteed to shake everything loose inside your rig, the public spaces such as the bathrooms... well just look at the pictures and you decide. I walked in, looked around, turned around then walked out never to return. My camper was sprayed by the ferrel cats that dominate the shoreline. I'm an animal lover, but I'll be dog gone if I'm gonna let cats smell up my trailer!

I am very disappointed. I have camped at Southport before, and have been attempting to contact them to make a reservation for about 3 weeks. First, upon calling the voicemail box was full. Then, when trying to call again I received an auto text response that indicated that they were on another line. I have e-mailed the address listed on the site twice, neither of which received a response. I tried calling again multiple times and received the same text. Finally on April 30th, I decided to text the auto response message and request information on a reservation - and got a response requesting to know how many people and tents I would need. I replied with the information, and that was the last I heard from them. It is now May 8th, and after repeated voice mails and text messages requesting information on the rental, I have been completely ignored. The phone has never been answered and I have attempted to call many times. I would not recommend this campsite to anyone.
