What a wonderful, unexpected find near Montgomery! We went to the Safari Park with relatively low expectations and we were impressed! All of us have been on safaris on the continent of Africa before, and I think we were amazed by how much interaction you could have the animals here. They came right up to the car, whether or not you had food or not but clearly, they were looking for food. The price of admission got you just that but you could purchase buckets of feed to use throughout the ride, and the attendant was kind enough to let us know which animals will eat a lot, and potentially also knock the bucket out of our hands! So, we began driving well-informed and fed a number of animals. We were a little surprised by how comfortable they were sticking their heads in the car to eat, and to just look around it seemed. We rolled the windows up when there were animals that we definitely did not want coming into the car. There was a good variety of animals - camels, llamas, ostriches, emus, bison, kudus, wildebeest, impala, blackbucks, zebras, impalas, and watusi. After we finished the drive, we had a chance to go and see the goats, pigs, and feed the birds. There was also a giraffe feeding area, and you could purchase greens to feed them as well. They had a little outback with kangaroos that you could walk through and see. The value here was pretty good for $25 a ticket. They also offer a military discount which is $2 off and the entire party can use it if you purchase it inside the park as it can't be applied online. This activity was great for kids and adults as well. Highly recommend
Omg what an experience!!! My 2nd time ever going through a safari like this and again experienced car damage!!! Soo worth it!!! Guess I didn't learn my lesson when the cow shattered my window at my first one. This time though I only experienced a bison dragging the food bucket down my door. Zebra drooled all over my arm rest. Wildebeest exhaled into the bucket which blew the crumbs all over my dash. The highland cows were soo sweet and charming. Soo gentle . Some of the llamas would stand in front of the car to keep you from leaving lol. We had soo much fun we had to go through it a 2nd time. Oh and one of the goats kept punching me to get my attention.
One word: SLOTHS!!! More words: This place offers a great ride on their "safari" truck where, armed with buckets of dry food, you'll be driven throughout their vast property and have a chance to see, pet (in most cases), and feed llamas, zebras, giant horned cows (not their scientific name), and emus. Or maybe they were ostriches.... Either way - the birds were very "insistent" so keep a good grip on the feed bucket. #protip I highly recommend doing the sloth encounter! Coolest thing I've done in a while - and yes, I know I need to get out more, but hey - these sloths rocked!!
Family Fun! Alabama Safari Park is perfect for all ages. Its a self guided 3 mile safari that features dozens of animals from all over the world. With your admission you're able to drive thru the safari as many times as your desires. Animal feed can be purchased at the entrance. I would recommend at least one per person. Be careful of the llamas they are a bit feisty and may get away with the feed bucket! After the drive thru fun head over to the Village Walk Thru to see some barn yard friends and meet and feed the most beautiful giraffes. This was an awesome experience! They have the giraffes separated on their own spot with a nice little fenced walking trail with other animals around. On the same side of the entrance you'll see the picnic tables and the walkway to it. They have a gift shop and that's where you get the food to feed the animals. The drive is a good way so make sure you get plenty of food for the duration of the drive if you want the animals to come close to your car. They do not come if you don't have food, lol . Also, make sure you're ok with your car being bumped (no real damage happened to my car but it could). They have zebras, llamas, goats and camels but the camels are gated so you have to drive close by to feed them. The speed is very slow while you go through as all the animals are scattered. Make sure the driver is not distracted and that you guys stop completely before you feed the animals. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and my kids and nieces want to come back again.
2/15/23 First time visitor. Got there around 11 am on a Wednesday. Park was pretty empty. ADMISSION: We got our tickets at the gift shop. Miss Daphne greeted us and was super pleasant to talk to. FEEDING ANIMALS: Is extra and can add up. I agree with other Yelpers that 3 to 4 buckets will help you get through the park. They don't give extra buckets, so if you bring a couple of extra plastic cups to separate the feed a bit it'll help you to ration. But feed the animals out of the white buckets only. When we were done, we went back to the gift shop and bought lettuce for the giraffes and budgie sticks for the parakeets. LLAMAS: We were ambushed immediately by these THUGS. They will step right in front and block you from moving forward while their accomplices approach you on the side. They won't let any of the smaller mammals feed either. They will also chase after your car too! CAMELS: Be prepared to lose your ENTIRE bucket of feed as they will grab onto the bucket too. I can see where choosing not to feed the animals could be an option for some as it can be intimidating and scary for young children. Realizing that these are WILD animals, you're not allowed to pet them and they could bite, I made sure I had food to feed them if my window was rolled down. If you point out the different looking piles of poo, and ask them to match the animal with their poo, that may be the thing that keeps some kids more engaged if they need a distraction from some of the animals. We were able to take our time and pulled on the side to let some cars pass us. When you're done, there's a walking portion where you'll see the goats, anteaters, an aviary, kangaroos, lemurs and then giraffes. Admission covers you all day. With the two of us, we did it in about 2-2.5 hours.
This was my second time going here yesterday. The drive-through area is full of most of the same animals all the way through. You drive through a large area and the animals come up to your car and you can feed them food bought in small containers when you enter the park. The food is five dollars per bucket. You have to be careful and hang onto the bowls, or the animals will pull them out of your hands. I will specially get them from small children who can't hold onto the bowls very well If you go on a very hot day, most of the animals Stick close together under the shade trees and stuff. Drive slowly when you go through. The part I enjoyed the most, was at the end. When you get out of your car at the gift shop, you can walk across to the area where you can feed and pet, the goats and a few pigs. They have a place where you can walk in and birds are just flying everywhere which is pretty cool . Don't scream on the birds fly around or land on you. They have ducks. There's a place on this side where you can also buy lettuce to feed the giraffe. There is a area where they have a couple of sloths behind glass. All in all it's OK. It's about $20 to get in and then you pay for the food to give them.
A drive through safari was on my bucket list. This was an AMAZING experience! There was 5 adults and I bought 10 food buckets. I pet a zebra and a buffalo. Then there was 2 Watusi towards the end and you're kind of freaking out because these things are on the road and their horns are huge. We were all thinking they might scratch the car, but they were so gentle. At the very end I was feeding a white Lama and then a brown Lama came up and I started eating. My husband started driving away and the white Lama ran in front of the car and stood there. My husband was unable to drive away until the brown Lama finished eating. These animals were so smart.
Oh man...this was the best part of my vacation. It was so. Ice fun interacting with the animals. Be sure to get plenty of food to feed them. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this. Do be mindful they will come into your car. So be ready for food to get everywhere and your car may get dirty too from them being muddy.
GOOOOOO! We stopped here on the drive down to Florida and honestly this was my favorite thing. I had no idea we would all have so many laughs. You drive through the safari park in a loop and you are able to get out at the end and park. There are goats, birds, kangaroos, and giraffes to see on foot. We bought 2 buckets of food and the attendant gave us extra buckets to split it so we don't waste it all at once. At the end we bought the romaine lettuce to feed the giraffes which was super cool.
A truly amazing experience, much more than we had anticipated. Clean, safe, and beautiful with contented animals. We were surprised to see the newest residents, capybaras that arrived only two weeks ago. We could have spent the entire day watching the playful antics of the adorable capybaras playing in the water and also on land. Another favorite were the kangaroos. A baby Joey was in and out of his mother's pouch. Adorable and so much fun to watch. The driving part was truly an experience. Our vehicle was approached by llamas, zebras, buffalo, and deer seeking food from the buckets we had purchased in the gift shop. The animals roam freely throughout the hundreds of acres. The camels tried to grab the entire bucket of food! We had to hold the buckets tightly while they ate from them. The employees are extremely friendly and helpful, happy to discuss the various animals. The entire experience was very educational. We spent several hours here and truly would have enjoyed staying the entire day if we could have, but had previously scheduled another engagement. We want to return and bring other friends along for the experience. read more

An amazing experience for young and old! Took my grandkids (6 and 8) along with a friend and it was a blast. Fed all sorts of animals from the car and in a walking area where they are behind fences. The animals are friendly but on the greedy side so they will snatch the feeding bucket out of your hand! Be prepared to get your car dirty as well as yourself. A great event for the family. read more

We made a stop just to see this place along our trip. So much fun! It took about 45-50 minutes to do the driving portion where you feed the animals out of the window. Then we paid for a sloth encounter and also a few bird feeding sticks. The sloth encounter was an extra $40 for just me but it was so worth it! And my son is still talking about all the fun animals he saw and it's been a few days now. It's such a sweet and fun experience! Oh, and those camels don't play hahaha pulled the bucket right out of my husband's hand! Staff is sweet and kind and super helpful! Bathrooms are nice and kept clean. Great place! read more
Wow! What a great time. So I have a recommendation, go to the gift shop and get an Air freshener. You will want it. You get to drive through the entire park and pet/feed so many animals! It was so much fun, we were laughing till we cried, in awe, and my friend may have been a little scared. Also, the zebras are brave and wild. Save plenty of food for them. Look at the pics and GO HERE!!! After you drive through stop back by the gift shop and grab a chocolate coated banana!!! read more

This was such an amazing experience. The park was very well-maintained and the animals appears healthy and cared for. There were lots of different activities, but the highlight was the drive thru safari. There is a cost to everyone. However, the entry fee is a day pass. You may leave and return to the park throughout the day without the paying additional admission. All of the feed costs extra. We purchased two buckets for a car of four adults and a child. If you ration your feed, it will last through the safari and petting zoo. Beware of the camels. They are the Bucket Bandits because they will try to steal your feed bucket by biting it with their teeth and pulling it out of your hands rather than just eating the feed from it like the other animals. I'm front of there enclosure is a sort of bucket graveyard as evidence. read more
Great family fun place. If you're looking for a quick day trip getaway I suggest this place. It is a bit pricey but well worth the experience. While your driving through the safari park you have to keep moving or pull to the side. We held up the line because the animals were coming to our car and we stopped. I guess a guy a couple of cars behind us got upset drove around and yelled "you have to keep moving or pull over". Yikes! After you drive through the safari you can grab souvenirs from the gift shop and bye lettuce cups to feed to the giraffe. They also have other animals that you walk around and visit. read more

What an amazing family day! Could not believe how many animals came up to the car and ate out of the buckets. We purchased 5 buckets and could have had 5 more to get through the park. Lol. My 6 year old grandson loved the animals and feeding them. My 3 year old granddaughter not so much. Definitely highly recommend, just beware of the "long horns", they like to try and fit their entire head in the car. read more

Was one of our families favorite things we did on vacation. Highly recommend. Great variety of animals & loved that you can go around as many times as you want!! The camels are hilarious & we were almost crying laughing that they bit my teens shoe LOL. That they also have animals where you get out & walk around is an added plus. Staff was friendly. FUN. FUN. If you're wondering if you should go, YES! All 3 kids (14, 4 and 1 yrs old) plus 2 adults all LOOOOOOVED this stop on the way to Georgia! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it!! It's worth every Penny and all the summer heat this year. Most areas are shaded and you can drive the animal path in your car. There's so many different types of animals and all were friendly and well cared for. It's probably one of the best animal places I've been in a long time. It's clean and well maintained. read more

We were driving from Wisconsin to Florida when we found this place online. The photos and reviews sold us. It was my wife and I and our 2 daughters aged 2 and 7. It was an amazing experience! We both thought it was expensive, but definitely worth the admission. We all laughed so hard and we screamed a few times. These were the memories vacations are suppose to make. My 2 year old wanted to hug every animal. My 7 year old didn't know weather to be afraid or to laugh while wanting to feed each animal. Some animals are a bit intimidating and agrressive eaters. However these are wild animals, they know where where their meals are coming from. We all agreed that we were happy to have stopped. You enter the park at your own risk and drive your own vehicle. Which most likely will need a vacuuming, a car wash, and maybe even a detail when done. I would not drive any exotic sports cars, classic cars, or any very expensive car that you may worrie about through this adventure. Just a warning! Animals come right up to the vehicles, maybe bumb your car, chew on your antenna and so on. We highly recommend you stop if passing through to experience this and make some family memories! I've been wanting to come here for sometime and I am SO glad I was able to come visit! The facilities and staff are super nice. It is a smidge pricey but oh so worth it! I would definitely recommend stopping buy or driving this way if you are young, old or in between. UPDATE: I went for a second trip with my parents and had and even better time than the first! A great experience! We took them family (two kids 6 &8). You drive a winding gravel road thru the animals. They will come up to your car or poke their head in to get food. They are not shy. We bought two food buckets and had some left over after the drive. We used the food to feed the goats, pig, and birds at the petting zoo. You have to buy lettuce to feed the giraffes. There is also a budgie bird area. You can hold a stick with seeds on it and feed the budgies at no extra fee. We went in late June. There were a lot of animal babies about. They give you a guidebook that has fun information and pictures about the animals. This is an experience we won't forget! read more
This place is SO much fun. My kids loved it, but I confess that I'd go back even if they weren't with me. You pay at the front and purchase buckets of food if you want to feed the animals (and why wouldn't you?) They give you a brochure that shows photos of each animal you'll see, along with their names and info about each one. You drive through the park at your own personal pace. You can pull over and take as long as you want with each animal. It's beautiful. They come right up to your car and put their heads inside to eat from the food bucket. (If you don't want their head in your vehicle, then hold your food bucket out the window for them - but hold on tight!) The emus are a little scary with their beaks, but also funny. There were some bulls with MASSIVE horns who unintentionally banged them against my side mirrors as they walked up to us. When you're done with the drive, park and get out for the petting zoo. You can feed the giraffe, goats, and other small animals. There is an enclosed bird area you can walk into, which was pretty amazing. They land all over your body whether you have food sticks or not, but it's better if you do. I think this was my favorite part, honestly. It was so neat. Cups of lettuce for the giraffe and food sticks for the birds are sold in the gift shop as well. The gift shop is pretty big and has a lot of toys and souvenirs in it, but is really pricy. ($3 for a plain bottle of water.) The bathroom situation is just a small trailer with a couple stalls in each one, but it serves it's purpose. Overall, the park is worth the money. I loved it. The kids loved it. We will definitely do this frequently. They said they were adding more animals and giraffes soon. Just hit up the gas station nearby afterwards for more reasonably priced drinks. read more

We very much enjoyed our drive through. We saw up close and sometimes very personal a large variety of animals we had never seen before. We loved the goats, pigs and other animals in the petting portion. Highlight for me definitely was the giraffes! I saw previous comments about purchasing 2 buckets of pellets (so we did). Thanks for that advice, we too would have run out before we were done! read more
