We called 5 companies and made appointments with all of them. Only 2 showed. Since 3 sides of our house slope downward toward the house, I felt a sump pump was necessary, as did Geno, the Dallas Curb Appeal owner. My husband and I felt the cost was very reasonable based on the large order of: 1 Sump Pump, 6 water catch basins, gutter connections to an existing ridged pipe put in a pit with River Rock so the rain water would not go into neighbors yard and removal plus new install of a concrete sidewalk from our driveway to our house. Once survey was completed with contract Geno said his service crew could be out within 2 days. On Service date, 3 crew guys showed up. Since I had a scheduled Doctor appointment, I walked through what was agreed upon. The 3 crew guys all came with me and were actively listening. I went to my appointment and returned 1 hour later to the 3 guys digging in 3 different areas. With Texas clay soil being hard, I was amazed at how much they had dug. Geno arrived soon after and was doing some of the work too. He even cleaned out our pool drains, which was not in the contract! Geno tested the gutter connection to the ridged existing pipe and I could see water barely moved. He said he could take out the ridged PVC pipe and install new smooth pipe. He measured and gave us a price that we felt was fair. That was the only upsale. Geno and his crew returned the following morning and the four of them seemed to work even harder. The new smooth PVC pipe was laid in a trench dug out by a crew man. He was up to his chest in the mud. And removing the old concrete to our door was strenuous. I practically had to beg them to take a quick break for water and food. Geno had to pull out our dishwasher, which was not connected right (every time I opened the door, it would pull away from the counter). Now our dishwasher no longer moves when we open it!! An added bonus that he just did without saying anything. Geno was also very nice to his crew and I can tell that created great synergy! All 4 of them had an impeccable work ethic! After the drainage was installed, we did have a bit of communication delay for getting a quote for River Rock, palm trees and Sod landscaping. Once we received the quote, it came in lower than another quote we received from a low cost landscaper. We had 2 of the previous crew and one different one come out the next day after we received the quote. They did great! I was very impressed with the cement pathway and the river rock design!! Plus the crew fixed one of our broken in-ground sprinkler pipe, which they discovered was leaking upon the final testing of our sprinkler zones. It is so nice to have our sump pump work even when we have a light rain. Also having dirt covered makes a huge difference to the inside of the house. Before our shoes would be caked with dirt and mud, now it is much cleaner. I am very happy with the outcome. I highly recommend Dallas Curb Appeal!!

We have had them convert all beds and even convert the grass sprinklers to drip irrigation. Best thing we ever did! Gino took the time to tweak the new drip system until it was just right so that we did not have run off (to avoid any fines in Plano!). We have a sloped yard and that was not an easy task - but he got it done. Synthetic Grass... We recently did a project that converted the back yard/dog run to synthetic grass...another job that they did expertly. Gino brought grass samples and did an amazing job at the installation. It's quote a process and they know what they are doing! The quality of the synthetic grass was top of the line. So glad we did the project. We have had them plant trees, do mulch, add river rock...the list goes on. No job too big or too small. Never had a complaint with this company and will continue to call on them for all of our outdoor projects.

The roofers then showed up one day at 6:30am without any notice. We had planned on boarding our two dogs on the install day to keep them away from all the commotion and no access to our back yard and when we called their office they said "we sent you an email!" I found the email in my junk folder but it included a "please reply with your confirmation" which I obviously never did. I asked about that and they said "oh, sorry." After moving all our cars out of the driveway to around the corner in our pajamas, the roofers themselves did a pretty good job although they did have at least one kid on the roof that couldn't have been older than 12 or 13. A couple of days later I get the final bill which is approximately $1900 higher than we agreed. They explain that Daniel was pretty new and maybe didn't know what he was doing and they had to charge more for the upgraded gutters AND, by the way, they can increase the total amount if they feel like it without informing me. So I ask why did I sign a contract if it doesn't really mean anything? "Uh, Daniel was new and didn't understand..." Unbelievable! After several phone calls the most they would agree to was "maybe we can send you a gift card so you can take your wife out to dinner because of the bother." They never sent the gift card. Based on my experience, after they have suckered you into believing you have a signed contract, they do not care about their customers and only look gouge you for whatever they think they can get away with. Please, do yourself a favor and find a reputable company that you can trust.

I waited almost a full year to post this review so that I could wait and write a clear and concise…read morereview that wasn't shaded by disappoint or anger. So here goes: I preface this review by stating that I know that most renovations, if not all, run into snags. Delays, errors, miscommunications happen and is a regular part of the industry. I work in building products myself (14 years now) and have an understanding of the remodeling process. The TLDR of the following is: Do not proceed with 19Squared. The pitch is perfect, but delivery is lacking. Poor communication, poor craftsmanship, at a high cost are what we encountered. I reached out to three other remodeling companies, one I had even used before on a project, before choosing 19Squared. Scott Sefton is a very good salesman in the sense that he can gain your confidence quickly. He said when we first spoke that they are not the cheapest, but they do things right. He only made good on one of those things. I had a feeling things would go south when they showed up one day early than the scheduled date to start the project. From then on, we had to chase them down to get any information on what was happening next, who was doing it, and when were they going to do it. Turns out they only have one guy that they hire to do the bulk of the work post-demo or at least that was the case for us, and that poor dude is clearly spread thin. We were told our itty-bitty kitchen would take 3-4 weeks. It took 4 months. The communication with us as well as between themselves was just really bad and decisions were made that we didn't approve or have a change order for that resulted in more work needing to be done. I can handle a few snafus as long as there is an open line of communication and acknowledgement of the issues reported. Several times we brought up a problem, it was not acknowledged by Scott and he deflected and got defensive. He left his project manager, Joel, in charge of dealing with the issues, but it seemed like communication between Scott and Joel was not any better than their communication with us. Turns out that when you hire 19Squared, you are really hiring Fernandez Remodeling which appears to consist of 2 people. So, if you have two people running several jobs, I can imagine the quality of the work and the speed of the projects will suffer tremendously. At the end of the day, Scott is the salesman who takes your money and then you don't ever really hear from him again. Every time I had to contact him about something he would always say, "Oh we're ahead of schedule." But every time I asked him exactly what that schedule was, he deflected and it was not in the contract. Point is, there isn't a schedule. You are at their mercy, and they have all of your money. Once we discovered all the very expensive hardware we ordered was installed crooked on our cabinets, we had had it. This was AFTER other problems. We took the keypad off the door and sent them notice. From there we let them fix a few things, then gave them the boot. Afterward, we had our plumber come replace the cheap parts installed under the sink that kept leaking and have since finished some of the painting and other things on our own. We also had to get the grout entirely redone because after two attempts to grout the floor, the grout kept coming out discolored and uneven. We had to touch up all the walls and the paint on the cabinets isn't even. There are also blotches in the lower cabinet stain and a lot of drip marks from the clear coat. We discovered recently they installed the storm door upside down and threw out the magnets that were supposed to help keep it stay shut and one of the cabinets now has a crack in it. They have a 1-year workmanship warranty, but there is no way I am letting them touch a thing in my home again. It's a shame that we didn't get the same kind of professional treatment it seems other reviewers did. Presuming the authenticity of the reviews that is. We were led to believe that trades experts would be completing the job, but the result was a very expensive hand-man job and we still aren't done fixing things.
