Line (only took 5 minutes to get to the front). So quick!

Birth Certificate Pick-Up Review (since there can be multiple reasons to come here) As you may have noticed from the high 5-star review for this place, they do a FANTASTIC job of getting you in and out as quick as possible for whatever you need. After filling the application online and opting for pick-up, I got a confirmation e-mail that the documents are ready and off I went. Some helpful steps: 1.) Parking can be difficult as most of the parking around the building was full and I had to park a couple streets away. ($2/hour for street parking) 2.) There are a TON of signs directing you to the 11th street patio where the pick-up is located and I highly doubt you will get lost. Really huge props to whoever put the signs up as they are very clear. 3.) The "patio" is huge and has waiting chairs and a ton of tables and pencils in case you need to fill out forms for whatever you are doing. It's "DMV" style in case you need to wait your turn for whatever you are doing. They will issue you a ticket. For birth certificate pick-up, I was serviced immediately once I got to the front of the line. 4.) The line may seem long but from when I started waiting to when I got helped was a grand total of 5 minutes. I was super impressed on how quickly they went through the queue and either helped people immediately or issued them a ticket so not to hold up the line. If you live close, this is an easy recommendation to do the pick-up yourself. Since I'm based in Fremont, this was quite a long drive but I was very happy to have such quick service.

Wanted to add a quick review with some recent photos in case anyone else is considering getting married here! We had a great experience and were pleasantly surprised by the wedding room itself. There are wooden benches for guests and lovely, fresh flowers on either side of the backdrop. Everything here was a breeze, from making the appointment to getting our license and having the actual ceremony.

My fiancé and I expected applying for our marriage license to be a draining and frustrating experience, mainly because so much of planning our wedding was much harder than expected! To be fair, most of this was because we'd never done it before, but Alameda County came through for us in the most unexpected way - it actually became one of our favorite memories. We witnessed a beautiful bride and groom dressed to the nines in the middle of the day, photo shoots on the courthouse steps, laughter and tears, and everything you'd expect to see at a wedding - only there were many couples, not just one! We were lucky enough to have Aaron process our application, and he was just the kindest, most fun person to walk us through the necessary steps. He even agreed to take a selfie with us (we were feeling particularly giddy, and he was 100% supportive - big love to Aaron!) We don't think we'll be tying the knot again, but for any future couples or anyone looking towards a visit, let us assure you that you'll be in good hands. Also, our wait line number was "B008," which my now-husband(!!!) was particularly stoked on. Thank you, Alameda County Clerk-Recorder, for being an honorary part of our celebration!

Don't think I've waited more than 5 minutes the several times I've been here to pick up personal documents...and easy to park at a meter if you go early ..public parking is about a block away as well...you enter on the right side of the building on 11th street through the gate..not the main entrance

I have to give both clerks that checked us in and performed our marriage ceremony a 100 stars!!!! They were so polite, excellent communication, understanding and professional. Give them a raise and a vacation. Our receipt had a Melissa Wilk and it was at Window#1 and I totally forgot the other clerks name (sorry). Thank you Alameda County Clerks Office for making our day extra special with no added stress.

I believe you get $.15 for every mile driven. *Make sure you sign and return the form ASAP.* There's restrooms for jurors, vending machines located downstairs of the basement and water fountains to refill your water bottle. You may eat or drink at the waiting area. Once you are settled in, you will be required to watch a video about your jurors services. If there's a trial, the judge will come out and explain in more details. If you are selected, you will fill out a bunch of questionnaires about yourself, your views on stuff and so on.. Parking is definitely a hassle. I got dropped off every morning, so that I didn't have to worry about parking. I do know that many people like the Alco park garage, but spots can fill up fast. When you first go in, there's security check. Nothing too crazy, but was told by a deputy to never bring metal forks in (if you were to pack your lunch), because security will stop you. I did pack my own lunch every day. If you needed a fork, you could go to the snack bar located lobby level. This was my first jury duty, so I didn't know what to expect. After security check, I went to a large room where I sat and wait. They played a video for us, and then had us fill out a questionnaire. The lawyers and judge then came down to speak to us a bit. You then have a chance to fill out a form in case of hardship, where the judge can excuse you. Everyone who is not filing for hardship goes upstairs to a courtroom and wait. A random number of people were then called to be questioned by both attorneys. This basically went on until both attorneys were okay with the panel. Now for my experience as a juror...it honestly wasn't that bad. I thought this was a great experience and very educational. My favorite part was definitely getting to know the rest of my fellow jurors. We had great conversations during breaks. Your experience is definitely depended on how you view being on jury duty. I hated missing work, but my fellow jurors made it fun. And the trial itself was nice to watch and take part of.

On the online portal where you see jury reporting, it lists the parking garage. It is located on the corner of 7th and Jefferson. I highly suggest parking at the garage. It is $7 but $6 with validation. The garage does get full so get there early. I got there at 7:00 when it opened to ensure I always got a spot. Some of the staff also park here. I preferred to park here vs the street because adding money for the street parking is not ideal considering we may be in court when the time runs out and I saw people get tickets who parked on the street. The juror room was larger than other courthouses. The space is very well kept/clean and there's free WiFi for you to work in between etc. This is also where you get your parking ticket validated for the garage (you get $1 off when validated). Shoutout to Vicki for being so helpful! The food cart downstairs was also good and they had a good variety. Although many people don't like jury duty, I found the staff to be helpful and the space to be clean. It was easy to navigate as well. They made my jury duty experience positive.

This just shows how lowly educated these individuals are. I interacted with the judge/commissioner here and he was patient and was clear in all of his directions, as well as taking the time to make sure all individuals understood their rights. This just show you the difference an education makes. If this woman can't even do her job correctly in a place that's administering the law, she doesn't deserve employment here.

Mrs. Martinez is different; she actually cares about what is going on in your life that has led you to her and really pulls out all the stops and options to help you be successful not only in completing your probation successfully but also in your life inso making it possible to stay off of probation in the future. She has gotten me into counseling (something I never thought was even an option or that I needed or would be helpful , but it was, for understanding why I make some of these bad choices, understanding what triggers me and how to deal with those triggers ) instead of a rehab treatment I didn't need and would have gotten me let go of my current job, due to all the required check ins and meetings i would need to attend . she also helped me to get back on my feet with temoarary houseing until together we found affordable perminate houseing keeping my family the entire time. All probation officers dealing with troubled individuals should have this approach instead of setting you up to fail to keep you in the system and money flowing through the jails. If all probation iofficers handeled certin cases like this I truly belive crime would be down and we lives could be saved.

The pushed me around and told me to get a lawyer and I wasted over $230,000 trying to get equal treatment for 2 years. Lawyers are leeches who love this court. Even recently, when I stopped by to run a quick errand, I found myself slowing down just to take it all in again. Inside, it's just as impressive. The grand rotunda, marble staircase, and overall scale make it feel more like a historic landmark than a typical government building. During my last visit, there were several couples there for wedding ceremonies, which added a really positive and lively atmosphere with lots of happy faces. There's also a lot of history behind the building. The original City Hall was largely destroyed in the 1906 earthquake, and the current one was designed by Arthur Brown Jr. in a Beaux-Arts style as part of the city's rebuilding effort. The dome is especially striking and even taller than the one at the United States Capitol. Over the years, the building has been reinforced, including major upgrades after the 1989 earthquake to help it better withstand future ones. Today, it's still a very active place, home to city offices, public services, and daily wedding ceremonies. It's also often used for events, photos, and even film shoots. At night, the building is sometimes lit up in different colors for holidays and special occasions, which is a nice touch. One quick (and slightly embarrassing) moment from my last visit: right after I walked into one of the offices to pick up a document, the building's alarm suddenly went off. For a second, I was convinced I had somehow triggered it. Thankfully, a staff member quickly reassured me it was just a fire alarm and told me to head outside. Definitely a moment of relief!

Marilyn Monroe is amongst the many famous who have held ceremonies here. People here are quite friendly and this building is exploding with love as there will be several couples taking photoshoots when you come in. The main thing is they need to have a better system for appointments! My partner and I checked in with our group at 8:45am and yet another couple that checked in at 9:10am were called and able to do their appointment before us. This costed us 20 minutes from our families and our own time with our photographers. Otherwise, SF City Hall is a dream~ Parking is quite chaotic admittedly, it is the city though! Scheduling appointments on the website is also a bit glitchy, however, it is all still very much worth it to have your special event at the most beautiful city hall in the USA.

If you find yourself with extra time beforehand, there's a path and a beach just across the street. Airport style security does not involve removing shoes. They let me in with my salad and chopsticks without a second glance. Also my poi made it in, a performance art prop, that I take with me everywhere. If you're at the end of the line entering the building (because you were off on a fun walk and not standing in line for half an hour to enter the building), you may be told that the jury assembly room is full and that you'll had to wait outside on some benches. This happened to me. The sounds of voices down the hallway are semi muted and semi echoey. There's no explanation for what comes next, when you're sitting outside the room, just the instructions to wait outside the room. I haven't been to any other courthouse in the Bay Area, so I can't compare. I have to say, expectations have not been set appropriately for the 8 of us sitting outside the room right now. And we still have no idea of the time we are summoned for today. Some time later into orientation... the group of us waiting outside the room have been let into the room to stand. There was a long introduction speech that contained about 10% useful information. It felt like we were getting a review of the courthouses in Oakland (learned that it is 7$ parking over there). Now the TV / DVD isn't working and we're all sitting around while potential jurors volunteer to try to debug the system. 5 minutes and counting... the potential juror trying to help just slapped the DVD player... Apparently the video is just to tell us about the first day. If not selected for today, dismissed for 12 months. Otherwise, depends on judge and case. 3 hours after start time, I've effectively completed one questionnaire and now we are released until tomorrow morning. Day 2 update! Line up to enter at 8:40, get in at 8:50, they've run out of work slips.
