Just went on this tour tonight. It was awesome!! It's $15 for adults $10 for kids. If you have a group of 10 or more you get $5 discount off each ticket. They start at 9 beside Believe it Or Not. Anyway it's not a silly "try to scare ya" type ghost tour. This guide really knew his stuff. He talked about battles, murders, deaths, the history of the Alamo.... It was fabulous. It was about 90 minutes long. He let ya use a variety of different ghost hunting devices. It was just an all around great tour and I highly recommend it! read more

I rolled my eyes a lil more than I wanted to at his corny jokes. But if you can get past the fast talk, wannabe stand-up comedian facade, you'll learn some interesting facts about different locations where ghosts have been known to roam, the crux of them being at the starting point at The Alamo. Though I had never seen him on the TV shows he was featured on, much less heard about him, paranormal expert Martin Leal, hosts the 90-minute historical walking tour through downtown San Antonio. It's similar in a lot of ways to the San Francisco's Ghost Hunt, except, Leal, as a guide, is more interactive with the group. And he actually breaks out ghost hunting equipment: One had the look of a stud finder, another was a point-on temperature gauge, lastly, a heat-sensing camera, the latter being the most intriguing device. Our group didn't get to witness anything major, but a look at past shots taken from the camera revealed a blue figure, the ghost known as "Shorty", who's been haunting The Alamo for decades. Depending on your level of belief, it can all be a bit cheesy, but for all the information you get for $10, it's a steal. read more

1.5 long tour of haunted downtown San Antonio for $15 is so well worth it! I found them on YELP. I was surprised at the amount of people who turned out for the tour. We were in two large separate groups. I was in no way in hell going to jump on the Girl Scout group.. Besides I liked our leader. He had a rather cool stache. He is also very knowledgeable in the history of San Antonio and has been ghost hunting for years. He knows his stuff. The tour takes you on 13 haunted areas. One of them is briefly the Menger Hotel which I the next day was lucky enough to get a private tour of the most haunted areas in the hotel by the Manger himself. Other areas is a tree that was used to hang criminals way back when and if you look closely at the branches you can see images of peoples faces in the tree itself. My friend came over last night and we blew up the images and could see what looked like five different faces that had the look of torment. We spooked ourselves a little. Anyhoo we also hit the San Fernando Cathedral where Crockett is buried as with other defenders of the Alamo. Not to mention bodies of others are entombed on back wall of the cathedral. We also visited the Spanish Governors Palace. These were just some of the spot that we visited. So, we were given EMF readers, a temperature lazer looking gun and a dowsing rod which was fun. It's a fun tour. You learn a little bit more of the haunted side of this city. I very much enjoyed the tour, I took this tour I believe on November 18. I think the tour guiding was Chris... He was very informative, entertaining and knowledgeable. He also was able to keep our focus as it could be like herding cats for a group of strangers. I would definitely recommend to anyone to take this tour as I have lived in San Antonio for five years 20 years ago and did not know about the tour, but this provide a different perspective on the city. read more

Tour was very boring, was not scary at all. The guide's stories all were based on the exact same premise, all involved the death or murder of a "little girl". The only thing that made the tour bearable was the banter and the jokes between my tour group. I have nothing against the guide as I understand you got to make money one way or another, but for me, I felt the tour was boring and was more comedic then scary. read more

Went on the tour and had a very enjoyable time. Prices were reasonable. $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for kids. Military get a $2.00 discount. Gregg was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable about the sinister history and paranormal activities of San Antonio. Was like a 90 minute walking and interactive version of ghost stories by the camp fire. The tour provided "ghost hunting" equipment for use such as dowsing rods, Elector-Magnetic Field (EMF) and thermal detectors. My only critique would be having the tour do a practical application with the equipment on-site in one of the tour locations that has documented paranormal activity. I know this would probably require a working relationship with the property owners (hotels, etc.) but the end result would pay dividends! read more

My husband and I finally had a free night so I thought about doing a ghost tour . It's something we have really wanted to do for a while , as we are native to San Antonio and thought it would be a great date night . We arrived a few minutes early and we were able to talk to JR before the tour started . He was very friendly and welcoming , and he gave off great vibes . The tour was true to the time frame as it was about 90 minutes long . JR used a microphone so it was very easy to hear him throughout the tour . I'd suggest dressing comfortable as the tour is all walking . All in all it was a great tour and JR was very knowledgeable about the history as well as the dark history of San Antonio. It's a great couple activity ! I'd definitely recommend this company as others I searched for were pretty expensive and this one had good reviews. Being that my husband and I don't get date nights often this one was well worth it! read more

We absolutely LOVED this ghost tour!!! This was our second ghost tour and I was not sure what to expect from this one since the one from the night before was really good. This one has been my favorite by far! I loved the hands on feel of the tour with all its gadgets and gizmos. JR was great and knowledgeable and kept it interesting. Jumping on the ghostly bandwagon, I am gonna review this one. A few months back, my hubby and I did this one night, and it was awesome!!! Martin (the leader) though having been tagged for being cheesy, really wasn't, in my opinion. He was very informative, and leaned more toward the historical and scientific approach as opposed to just trying to entertain. He answered a ton of questions, and even brought along these cool laser gun things for everyone, that are used to record temps of surfaces, showing where the spirits are. It was crazy, lemme tell ya! Also he had witching rods with him which (haha) I have always been fascinated with. And like Marsha said, it's only $10 for about an hour and a half tour...that's a better deal than if you were to go to the movies :) read more

So, I knew that we weren't actually going to see any ghosts, but I was expecting to get a little scared at least. We met our guide in front of the Alamo and proceeded to talk about the history of the areas all around the Alamo, including the Menger hotel, the Emily Morgan, and even the statue in front. All of the history was really interesting and informative and the talk about previous "sightings' was cool and all, but the basic tour was just a walk around the block with the tour guide spouting out the same jokes mentioned in previous reviews. The best part of the tour was the end when he showed us the photos of ghosts. It was something different than the ordinary date night, but don't go expecting to actually see anything. read more

I may or may not be a little bit of a ghost tour enthusiast, but that for now is beside the point. I'd been wanting to go on this tour for quite awhile now but had never gotten around to it, therefore over thanksgiving on the coldest wettest grossest night of the year I for some reason decided now was the time. Despite the horrible weather the tour was quite interesting, we walked all over the downtown area while the guide talked about not only the ghosts but the local history. Although it was one of the most formal ghost tours I have ever been on it was still a lot of fun and I didnt feel like the guide rushed through the information. In fact he was nice enough to stand around with us after the official tour was over and just chat about ghosthunting in general and all the traveling he has done. Get through the vaguely boring and lame first ten minutes of the tour and stick around afterwards and you are guarenteed not to be disappointed. read more

Give me a break. We went on this as a group from work. As soon as the guide handed out the laser guns and told us that because the building was warmer than the sky=spirits. He lost me at that moment. So once a couple more of us realized we were not going to be on Alamo grounds and were walking w/the tour towards our hotel, we booked it. Ended up at DRINK and that is a COOL bar. read more

This tour offers a very nice excursion around the area immediately surrounding the Alamo. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and easy to follow. In my opinion, the most interesting part of the tour is just walking around the area at night and enjoying the scenery and sights. The only thing I would have done differently was to not go on the tour on a Friday night. There were a lot of annoying drunks stumbling around as we went along and we even had a few who preferred to join the tour rather then drink their bum juice. Overall, it was pretty cool! read more

Great value for money if your are a history buff like myself. JR told very many interesting stories about ghosts, history and architecture. My wife, the ghost hunter, was disappointed. While JR provided great ghost hunting tools we didn't do any ghost hunting. This is our third ghost tour (other tours where Savannah GA and San Francisco CA). DONT do this tour. Terrible customer service. My 10 year old daughter had been looking forward to this for months. We planned it for the last night of our vacation. Made the reservation on line, booking confirmed. So we rush to get there on time, kids bursting with excitement. JR is late, I call 15 minutes after the scheduled start and no answer. 30 minutes, no answer. 4 minutes, call again and get JR. He says he's sick, the website shouldn't have Let us make the booking, and there won't be a tour tonight. And he will refund our money. Getting a refund won't do a thing to help explain to a couple of crying kids why they won't get to see the one attraction they pick for their visit to San Antonio. Don't blame the website, JR. It's a part of your business, and you messed up big. There is no way I would recommend this, or trust them with my business again. read more

took this tour yesterday with my friend who isnt into these kinds of things. we both really enjoyed it. i have taken many ghost tours before and this is the only one where we could use the e.l.f. guns. i thought the guide martin did a great job despite some jokes probably being routine. would recommend him to others. it is cheaper too then the other tours. read more

So I went on this expedition last year during HOSA state. Originally I was pretty meh about it because I couldn't go to Six Flags like we wanted. Anyways, our school went on this ghost tour instead! We walked around and heard the stories and tried the gadgets. But the most memorable part of this trip was the dowsing rods they give you. You're supposed to ask the dowsing rod a yes or no question and then it'll point either left (no) or right (yes). I was pretty skeptical about the dowsing rid but it was so fun to play with! My friends and I all asked a bunch of random dumb questions just to see. I asked if I would make it to HOSA nationals and get into rice and it said yes to both. My other friend asked if she would be valedictorian and it said yes too, she was notably number five at this time -jumping to one seemed super improbable. I didn't actually make it to HOSA nationals last year. I got fourth place, one place away from qualifying to nationals. So I was somewhat disappointed that the dowsing rod didn't come true. Shockingly enough, my friend did end up becoming valedictorian of our class, I got into rice off the wait list, and I made it to HOSA nationals in two events this year! So believe in the dowsing rod, I wish we got to keep them haha read more

Great place to go and visit with my ghost obsessed family. We all got to use loads of equipment like thermal metres and dowsing rods which is really fun and the tour guide kept up the suspense. I hope everyone gets a chance to experience something like this as it creates some really good memories to take away. All in all, we enjoyed this a lot. I learned about the sites we went to in a fun way and would like to do something like this again, it is a top attraction and I would reccomend it to all. read more

Wasted time wasted money. First they never mentioned you need id to use any of the equipment so my daughter and I wasn't able to use anything except the dousing rods. Most of the group left within 10 minutes of the tour start because it was nothing but a history lesson. Save your money go online Google the history of San Antonio yourself then walk yourself around. read more
