we were given dowsing roads, emf readers and something else to detect "ghost".. here the owner/tour guide demos the dowsing rod

1.5 long tour of haunted downtown San Antonio for $15 is so well worth it! I found them on YELP. I was surprised at the amount of people who turned out for the tour. We were in two large separate groups. I was in no way in hell going to jump on the Girl Scout group.. Besides I liked our leader. He had a rather cool stache. He is also very knowledgeable in the history of San Antonio and has been ghost hunting for years. He knows his stuff. The tour takes you on 13 haunted areas. One of them is briefly the Menger Hotel which I the next day was lucky enough to get a private tour of the most haunted areas in the hotel by the Manger himself. Other areas is a tree that was used to hang criminals way back when and if you look closely at the branches you can see images of peoples faces in the tree itself. My friend came over last night and we blew up the images and could see what looked like five different faces that had the look of torment. We spooked ourselves a little. Anyhoo we also hit the San Fernando Cathedral where Crockett is buried as with other defenders of the Alamo. Not to mention bodies of others are entombed on back wall of the cathedral. We also visited the Spanish Governors Palace. These were just some of the spot that we visited. So, we were given EMF readers, a temperature lazer looking gun and a dowsing rod which was fun. It's a fun tour. You learn a little bit more of the haunted side of this city. In fact San Antonio is said to be the most haunted city is the U.S because of all the lives lost at the battle of the Alamo. Want to get scared... Stay at the Menger or the Emily Morgan...

    Thanks for the FUN night!!!!!

Went on the tour and had a very enjoyable time. Prices were reasonable. $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for kids. Military get a $2.00 discount. Gregg was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable about the sinister history and paranormal activities of San Antonio. Was like a 90 minute walking and interactive version of ghost stories by the camp fire. The tour provided "ghost hunting" equipment for use such as dowsing rods, Elector-Magnetic Field (EMF) and thermal detectors. My only critique would be having the tour do a practical application with the equipment on-site in one of the tour locations that has documented paranormal activity. I know this would probably require a working relationship with the property owners (hotels, etc.) but the end result would pay dividends!

JR the tour guide and myself !

The process for booking the tour was simple as it can be done online or in person. Patrons purchase tickets and are given a schedule of when the bus departs from the meeting point and of the sights the bus stops at. When entering the bus, patrons are permitted to sit wherever they choose on the double-decker bus. The Things elected to sit on the top deck in the baking hot sun (not recommended on a TX summer day). The tour is what you make it. You can craft your own route as the bus routes are designed to take you near the main landmarks in the city. By taking the hop on, hop off option, you can change routes and discover the city at leisure. The bus stops are multiple locations along the route, and the bus driver provides fun facts about the places along the bus route. While I didn't learn anything new about my city, The Things did. (Nice) One driver however, literally talked to the two women in the front seats about the Pink Concert that was happening in the evening. I was thinking.... Tell me about the damn history!! I just did a tour in Austin that was a lot cheaper and was way more fun and informative. (But it wasn't a hop on/hop off tour) Wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't do it again. Could have driven to most of the stop and even with parking, would have been cheaper.

You get to visit 5 different stops (mine was only four since it was the starting phase). I went on a Sunday tour, the tour differs between the two based on the dessert place (La Boulangerie on Saturday, Paleteria on Sunday). The tour was great, we start at Ocho, you get a taste of one of the popular dishes and history on SA, then start on foot towards Luke, receiving information about the city on the way. I enjoyed a great little dish and drink at Luke, then headed on to Nectar, and got a HUGE sampling of the meats and cheeses that they offer, from there we head to Zinc. At Zinc I tried one of the best guacs in town, and saw some of my fellow tour-ers the purchase a Prickly Pear Margarita, which was really really pretty. (Typically you visit a desert place last, but because i went on the tour before the Paleteria was confirmed, we skipped this stop.) The SA Food Tours staff is friendly and knowledgeable, they've put a lot of time and hard work into the tour, and its a great way to experience San Antonio's food scene and get some history at the same time.
