On a recent trip to San Antonio we were able to check out the Pearl Brunch Tour. Even with the awful weather (it rained ALL weekend), the tour was amazing. Our tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable about the Pearl Brewery area and all the places we stopped. We went to Local Coffee, Southerleigh Brewing, Nao, and Lick. The tour included so much amazing food - you will not leave hungry. San Antonio Detours offers other public tours weekly and I will definitely be checking those out the next time I'm in town. I signed up for "The Real San Antonio" city overview tour, not knowing what to expect. Melvin did a fantastic job sharing information about both the history of the city as well as taking us to some interesting San Antonio locations that I hadn't seen before. I liked his conversational style, and he was able to answer everyone's questions. The tour bus was very well-kept and clean, and I was impressed that the tour started and ended exactly on time. There was not quite as much walking as I expected, since it was billed as a "walking tour." However, I'm not surprised because we did visit so many locations (a mission, the King William district, and drove through the Pearl) that we had to drive between. Melvin packed a lot of sightseeing and history into two hours! I learned a lot about the areas of San Antonio that I visit frequently, so I am very happy with the tour. I would love to try more San Antonio Detours in the future, especially with Melvin. Two big thumbs up! read more

AMAZING tour. We signed up a group of 30 women from out of town to get an insider's look at San Antonio. The motorcoach they provided was clean and comfortable, and our tour guide Melvin could not have been more enthusiastic, knowledgeable or sweet. We took the Historic Mission Tour with Michael today, visiting the San Juan, San Jose, Espada, and Concepcion missions south of San Antonio. Michael did a great job, providing enough history of each mission without droning on to the point of boredom. He kept our group of 10 on schedule which provided ample time at each stop. Went on the Historic Missions tour 10/20, and had an absolutely fantastic time! We were blessed with nice weather, which made it the perfect day for this kind of tour. Our guide/driver, Melissa, was fun, energetic, knowledgeable, and just the right amount of silly for our particular group. You could tell she was really passionate about the subject! It was truly wonderful to get out and see THE OTHER historic missions in the area, because although the Alamo is well know, it's not the whole story of the Spanish missions in Texas. Was in San Antonio for a conference and had the privilege of going on a Missions Tour with Michael and Melissa. Being with a LGBTQ group of men ranging in age from 40-90 I was worried about our members feeling comfortable, accepted and cared for. Michael and Melissa were amazing! This tour company is wonderful. Online reservations are easy and quick. Confirmation is emailed right away. We took the Real San Antonio tour via luxury Mercedes van to Mission San Jose and King William district where we got out and walked around. Both locations had restroooms available. The rest of the tour was driving through neighborhoods and the Pearl District. Our tour guide Melvin was so knowledgeable, a walking history book of the area. His enthusiasm and friendliness was so wonderful. His smile went on for days and I could tell he loves meeting people and sharing the history of San Antonio. Water is provided and a special treat at the historic King Williams district. I suggest taking this tour on your 1st day so you can get ideas of where to further tour and places to eat. We actually ended our tour at the Pearl District hopping off the van before it returned to the pickup location, the St Anthony hotel. We wanted to eat lunch there at Cured. Three years ago, I took a food tour in San Antonio called Fork in the River. It was so good we wanted to take it again. In fact, it was the first thing we looked for when planning our trip. But, it appears they are no longer operating, at least for now? This tour wasn't even close compared to it. We had better food, definitely better guide and a careful mix of History and other city highlights. So, yeh, the food on this tour was good but not great. My daughter and I took a 3 hour tour of the missions with Misty and it was fantastic. Misty drove us to each of the sites, and highlighted the history as we toured each mission.
