He started having horrible melt downs before school and he became a challenge at home. Fall 2016 I enrolled him in WAS. We have never been happier! He loves his school so much. Mornings are great because he can not wait to get to school. The staff is amazing and attentive. He is starting basic math already and has a pretty good Spanish vocabulary. The education Mr Barrera provides to his students is comparable to the education I received in an International Private school, he brought history to life right from his world literature class and changed our minds in the most positive ways with open ended class discussions about worldly issues, allowing students from different backgrounds to share their thoughts and ideas in a safe space for us to create a better common understanding of each other. It is teachers like him in Georgia who will positively change and enlighten future generations of adults to come. The chorus teacher verbally abuses kids to tears, the band directors make the band kids stand in the sun till they PASS OUT, and racism runs rampant among teachers and students. I can't tell you if the other schools in the area are better, but the one good thing I can say about this place is that there isn't much open and outward bullying, and most students respect one another. The school looks really nice from the outside, the only place I really speak on is the gymnasium since that's where we spent the most time. The gym is really nice, the bleachers are the hard plastic and were the school colors and spelled out Cats in yellow. Nice touch. The auxiliary gym was hot and nothing to call home about but it served its purpose. I would say the lady they had cleaning worked her heart out because it was so many people in and out of the gym it was just overwhelming for her. She did a great job keeping everything clean.

Now I really realize how messed up it was to mess with my mind just because you can't do your job. The inner mother in me wants to protect my younger self. I can't go back in time and fix anything. It took me until I was 35 to get on the correct medication because I had been medically, mentally , emotionally, physically , spiritually abused. I had no one I could trust or cared about me and was completely alone in the world. My Guidance counselor told me just to pretend that everything was ok when it was not ok. So I learned to disassociate and was forced in to the world a beat up and broken person. That is such a nice thing to do to our young females. Thanks for not giving me a chance at life.
