One afternoon I saw a truck of guys ride into the senior parking lot holding guns. Wheeler High school is often pronounced 'WILLER HI'. On their announcement board that sits in front of the school it currently says that they were just ranked in the top 5% of all national high schools by Newsweek. I wonder how many schools are in the top 5% of all national high schools. I had some memorable teachers here. Mr Carter Ms Taaffe Ms Carter Ms Frazer. I felt like I got a good learnin' here even though I slept through a lot of my classes. High school. So, let me be purely subjective and biased about this lovely gem in the woods. During the three years of my enrollment from 1998 to 2001 the teachers here had raised me from an ESL nonnative speaker with promise into a kind of local leader in the subjects of my choice (science and math). The teachers were all competent or excellent, and with some special teachers' dedications to after-school activities (like academic bowl / science club / math club) and the AP curriculum (which can earn you college credits) I was able to find my passion and later my choice of university. It's sad to hear that some of my favorite teachers have since retired including Mrs. Spear and Mrs. Dutter. A shout out to Rowdy Roty if you know what I mean. She had to pull snarling brats off of another all the time. She started to feel uncomfortable even though she'd been at the school for a long time. She likes where she is now much better. I did not like East Cobb. The gym teachers were all supreme dicks. One of them got hit in the face with a golf club once. He was a sassy dude and he one time gave me 3 detentions because I was running in the gym. If I let my kid go here it would only be because I'd want him/her to see how jacked people can be. The chorus teacher verbally abuses kids to tears, the band directors make the band kids stand in the sun till they PASS OUT, and racism runs rampant among teachers and students. I can't tell you if the other schools in the area are better, but the one good thing I can say about this place is that there isn't much open and outward bullying, and most students respect one another. If you ask any student at this school, they will either say they hate this place or they will lie out of fear. ​
