A guy walks into Alaska Ammo. One of the salesmen says something like it's better if you hold the gun in your hand and try it out. The guy replies saying his wife would kill him and started laughing. The salesman then says well you should just hold a knife in front of her... awkward silence as the guy seems slightly taken aback. Again the salesman says to put a knife in front of her, then maybe she'll feel the urge to go make you a sandwich like she's supposed to.... After surprise and more awkward hesitation the salesman clarifies that it was just a joke he clarified.... This was my first experience in this store and I won't be back. In addition another staff member seemed pretty put off with helping anyone between playing with his phone. If you know what you need and are a little rough around the edges you'll fit in just fine. If you're new to purchasing a firearm and prefer more respectful service I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

Great local company to fulfill all your gun needs. I've been here quite a few times now for various reasons; I've bought 2 guns from these guys and a decent amount of ammo and have never had any issues. Very recently I had a very poor experience with an employee here. To the point that I would not continue to do business here. I wrote an email to the owner and explained what had happened. Within an hour of him receiving that email he had called me to apologize for what had happened and told me what steps he had taken to correct the issue. I am very impressed with how quickly and professionally he handled my problem . He has definitely earned my business and I will recommend Alaska Ammo to everyone that I know! read more
