I'm planning a kitchen renovation, and Jack at Daisy has been so helpful. I'm beyond pleased that Daisy is managing our building.

Any minor issues that came up were addressed in a timely manner, which made a big difference in my overall satisfaction.

Nancy and New Scotland Management, a middleman with DBO (?) filled out rental assistance paperwork and gave me grace periods for rent payments. My rent was not increased, possibly because I was going through cancer treatment and financial issues. Also, my studio was super tiny. I will never forget what Jennifer, Nancy and Dan did for me. Management promptly addressed smoking in the building. They also fixed a broken spring on the front door. It took a LOT of prodding over many months to get them to fix a heating problem (too hot, not too cold), but they did eventually fix it. Once DBO took over, common areas all but stopped getting cleaned. Prior to DBO coming in, the entryway, little lobby area and stairwell were vacuumed, mopped and dusted very regularly. I had to beg DBO repeatedly for the filthy common areas to be cleaned. Grime and bits of garbage remained in the vestibule after the "cleaning". The garbage disposal area went way downhill in cleanliness too. I hope DBO rises to the challenge of maintaining the integrity and character of the beautiful 1800s building I lived in. I enjoyed 7 foot high windows, 12 foot ceilings, brownstone type stairs and a chandelier. Many OOT landlords come to Albany and reap stunning profits from Albany residents but give nothing back to Albany tenants or the community. Please be respectful and fair and help protect the dignity and historical beauty of our homes, our dollars and our lives! We are counting on you! Thank you.

PROS: Great neighborhood...animal friendly...close to Universities and hospitals...on the bus…read moreline...full basement with W/D hookups...maintenance is mostly responsive to requests... CONS: The walls are thin so unless you have decent neighbors you'll get sick of them ( I can hear mine pee in the morning from my bedroom). Shoddy upkeep as far as the grounds are concerned. Gutters haven't been cleaned in the 3 years I've been here so the rain water just kind of pours down our back door and steps. Snow removal is a crap shoot and depends on which guy does it (we lose off-street parking spots to mounds of snow in the winter). The paper thin walls, lack of insulation and unsealed doors and windows mean your National Grid bill WILL be ridiculously high in the winter and likewise high in the summer if you expect to stay comfortable inside. (I was actually told that the reason our drywall cracked upstairs was because there's no insulation in the attic where the HVAC exits...really?!) You can tell the walls have been (poorly) painted see earl times between tenants. The only ventilation in the bathroom is the window so in the winter it's a job keeping brown spots off the walls and ceiling (unless you open said window and freeze.) there is no range hood in the kitchen so: 1. The smoke alarm WILL go off EVERY time you cook/pre-heat the oven, etc. 2. Everything in your kitchen/dining/living room will be covered in greasy cooking by-product and will need to be cleaned and wiped down often. Basements get wet when it rains so your washer/dryer will have to be kept up on wood pallets (if you're lucky enough to get them) that will grow mold and need to be replaced often. Also, on maintenance, for all their responsiveness they don't actually do very much to fix what's wrong in the apartments. They show up, take a look and MAYBE do a patch job...maybe. Also, your lease renewal paperwork will be late every. single. year. It will however be "your responsibility" to give a prompt 60 days notice of intent to vacate, or you WILL LOSE YOUR DEPOSIT.

Lisa called me to ensure my maintenance requests were taken care of and even provided me a credit for a shower-head that was damaged in the process. The property manager gave the keys to my partner so he could take our cats inside while I signed paperwork. Unknowingly he walked into another apartment with our same apartment number and unlocked the door. Apparently every tenant has a master key. When we first walked into our apartment we smelled a gas leak. Nobody in management or maintenance believed us or took it seriously so I called National Grid myself. They sent out a technician and sure enough there was a leak in our stove. We noticed that every single door and window either can't be opened or is very hard to open and close. Including the window to the fire escape, which only opens about 3 inches. The floor boards are so warped and have so many gaps. They also creak so loudly it can be heard from the hallway outside of the apartment. We have no control over the heating. The radiators kick on at 55 degrees and they just turn off whenever. It's either way too hot or way too cold. Also they hiss, rattle, and clang constantly so we haven't been able to get any sleep in 3 days. All of the radiators are being propped up on boards and are lopsided. The bathroom is very small and there are walls on either side of the toilet that are less than 2 ft apart. I barely have room to sit on the toilet and cannot comfortably wipe. There are so many other things wrong like hot metal poles that will burn you if you bump into them, random gaps in the ceiling, walls, and floors, the whole building smelling like weed, and neighbors stealing packages. Please do not move here.

Only complaint is there's no working buzzer system for the front doors. Visitors have to call your cell for you to meet them at the door.
