We got our Thanksgiving catering from Albero Verde this year. I had been there to celebrate a successful fundraiser for Living Stones and saw the advertising about the Thanksgiving options. I'll post a photo of the menu, but here are some of my thoughts: Turkey - so delicious Mashed potatoes - perfection Stuffing - I loved it but the kids didn't. Honestly they probably would have preferred Stove Top though. Green beans - very tasty but not great as a leftover Cranberry chutney - ok, I love the canned stuff but this was truly a hit. Rolls and butter - literally such delicious butter! Apple pies - they were more like empanadas. I was expecting mini round pies. The crust was amazing but the apples were a bit tart. The pickup was easy and seamless. Everything was packed well. Thank you! We can't wait to come in to eat soon. read more

Blink, and you just might miss Albero Verde. It's nestled in a strip mall plaza in the heart of South Hills. The restaurant itself is small, but their food is beyond mighty! Our waitress Ellie was attentive, patient, and helpful for our party of 9. She was even willing to give some of the guests tea bags from her own stash! Our group of 9 tried almost everything on the menu. They have a small menu with a few appetizers and main courses along with some desserts. Because we were a larger group, at least one of us got something on the menu. We also shared, so I tried many of the dishes! They gave us an amuse bouche, which was aracini with caramelized onions and peppers. DELICIOUS. I wanted more. We also got foccacia with an oil dipping sauce. The focaccia was denser than usual, but I loved it! Here's what we tried: [Sausage Greens & Beans]: A traditional Italian dish that was absolutely delicious. There was so much flavor between the panchetta, beans, escarole, and sausage. This dish was out of my comfort zone but so delightful. [Crispy Brussel Sprouts]: Man! These were good. They were perfectly charred and paired with a spicy sauce that took this dish to the next level. [Wedding Soup]: A little non-traditional since their noodles were much larger, but I loved the denser meatballs. [Caesar Salad]: My husband loved this dish! The croutons made the dish extra, and it was well dressed and slightly lemony. [Warm Mushroom Salad]: I hate mushrooms but I loved this. The rosemary smoked mushrooms were the star of this dish. [Shrimp Risotto]: This was so creamy and flavorful! [Chicken Marsala]: This dish was out of this world! The rosemary smoked mushrooms gave this dish a perfectly smokey flavored. The chicken was stuffed and accompanied with lyonnaise potatoes that were so crispy and delicious. [Roasted Veggie Rolled Lasagna]: Wow was this dish flavorful. The variety of vegetables were perfect, and the roaster red pepper ricotta in the middle was just what this dish needed. [Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie]: This was the perfect fall dessert. Apple turnovers, peaches, and pumpkin pie mousse. The perfection portion and not overly sweet! This restaurant made it to my top 5, and it was so delicious. All of the flavors were so complex! You need to try this restaurant or you'll really be missing out! I cannot wait to try more items on their menus as their specials and menu changes. Such a hidden gem! read more

Had been wanting to try Albero Verde for quite some time! Finally got around to it for a night out. BYOB, small quaint little place. The bread to start was just ok, a little on the dry side, but the other appetizers we tried knocked it out of the park!!! Shrimp risotto and brussel sprouts were delicious. For entrees my husband and I each got the bolognese and the tortellini and shared. I really enjoyed the bolognese and particularly the noodles cooked al dente. Tortellini was flavorful and good, but disappointed there were only four of them. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would love to try something different in the menu next time. This review is for my takeout experience at Albero Verde. I ordered takeout one evening. They were having a pasta special which included a side salad, spaghetti with a choice of sauce, garlic bread, and two cannoli. I placed my order online and headed to the restaurant. Albero Verde is very tiny and it is situated in a strip mall. It can be easy to miss. Even though the space is small, it's very open and bright which is nice. The kitchen is open so it is cool to see your food being prepared as you're waiting. The staff were nice and the takeout process was quick and efficient. I would like to try Albero Verde again but if I dine in, I will definitely make a reservation in advance. read more

The Mother's Day brunch was really nice. Anthony and staff had a buffet with a wonderful assortment of food. The tiny French toast, the seafood and salads were all great. Also had an omelette with crab meat and some peppers. The waitress was so friendly and good. It appears there is a small issue with the online Toast reservation system but that was not an issue. Have really enjoyed the brunch and lunches, will have to stop in for dinner. read more

Okay, Pittsburgh, you MUST go to Albero Verde Restaurant (Scott Town Center)! If you are a foodie and someone looking for a fun and incredible food experience, then this is the place to go! The chefs and owner are talented! My sweet friend and I went here to unplug from momming for just 2 hours to enjoy good food and good conversation. Based off another review I booked the Chef's Table at Albero Verde for my husband tonight. It was nothing short of amazing. Chef Anthony was top notch from start to finish. When I first contacted him he replied almost immediately and set up a time to talk with me about our preferences, dietary restrictions and overall food vibes. He sent me a menu within a day and welcomed feedback. Tonight we sat at the bar where we were able to see into the open kitchen and Chef Anthony walked us through every dish (both ours and those of other diners). Everything was delicious and with the exception of the cannoli shell, made from scratch, in house. Portions were huge for an almost 8 course meal and the pacing was great. The other staff were wonderful and beyond the flavorful food, the pricing is very reasonable. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. He also recently lost his sous chef due to him being in a really unfortunate accident. So if anyone knows someone looking for work... he's hiring. read more

We went here for our anniversary, mostly because we didn't want to go downtown to our usual. Since it was a mile away and highly rated, we gave it a try. We were very impressed by both the service and the food. It is BYOB, 10$ corkage fee. It is an open kitchen, and the dining area is small but we had plenty of room. The Chef/Owner came by with a wonderful amuse-bouche of falafel with a tapenade. We had the Caesar salad for staters, which we split. It came with a Parmesan cheese cap and a nice basil egg yolk. Main course was a wonderful Branzino, deboned and stuffed. My wife a wonderful plate of Herbed Curligiones, which are a Sardinian ravioli. Dessert was a very nice chocolate chip cookie. My friend and I had a lovely dinner at Albero Verde last week. This was our first visit since it re-opened after Il Burloni closed. We were very impressed with the food and service. Before the meal, the chef came to the table to say hello (nice touch!) and offered us an amuse-bouche, which was a mini flatbread with house made hummus and other savory toppings. Perfect! We shared the roasted mushroom salad to start. Plump, juicy, flavorful mushrooms, including boletes, with arugula in light vinaigrette dressing. I had the veal skirt steak frites entree, my friend had the halibut. The veal was tender and well-seasoned and the frites were hand cut and delicious. My friend enjoyed the halibut but said it was just slightly overcooked. Unfortunately, we did not save room for dessert. I also failed to ask if the desserts were made in house. I am looking forward to trying the mini cannoli on my next visit. What a great idea to offer a small bite of sweets at the end of the meal. (The mini cannoli dessert is only $2!) Our server was attentive and friendly. The ambiance is what it is, the restaurant is in a suburban shopping center (aka strip mall). The noise level wasn't bad, and the white tablecloths and other decor gave it an upscale feel. I will definitely go back. I look forward to trying more of the entrees and starters and of course a dessert! I am so happy this lovely place is in my neighborhood!! read more

I happen to see this place just opened so I stopped in. It is elegant, with white tablecloths, but I asked if I could just order a first a first course for a smaller dinner. They were encouraging and I was given a lovely table where I could see the chefs cooking. I adored the classic Italian beans & greens dish with their own sausage. Next time I will come back for risotto with a main course of the fish- branzino, and I will bring a bottle of wine. The service was lovely, descriptive, attentive, but not invasive. The chefs are highly experienced in very famous kitchens, but striking out on their own. This is a neighborhood jewel! read more

A small intimate place, perfect for a date or girls night. BYOB so We brought our own wine. While waiting for our apps the chef came over and gave us a little pepperoni tostada, it was a little piece of heaven. We did shrimp and a Caesar for starters. The sauce that was served with the shrimp was amazing. Acidic, a little spice, bursting with flavor. Caesar salad was gorgeous, the parm dome was tasty and a nice touch. Even the dinner bread is amazing. I had the Curligiones, which reminded me of little dumplings filled with cheese and herbs, flavor bomb. My boyfriend had Linguine Bolognese which is one of my favorite flavors, brazed pork, red wine reduction, truly chefs kiss. For dessert we had espresso gelato and pistachio cannoli, AMAZING. Went there last Saturday. Great that they take reservations because it is a very "cozy" place. We hadn't realized that another restaurant went into the same space where Il Berloni Italian restaurant used to be. So it is easy parking in this strip mall. The food was fabulous. A limited menu but everything was excellent. First courses: Warm mushroom salad and wedge salad. Second courses: Fran & Fudge which is a Pork chop bone in with pirogi and red cabbage and Scallops & Langoustine Spaghetti and housemade pasta and sauce....delicious. No room for dessert. We might split a first course next time and then split a dessert. The portions are generous and we had no room for dessert. Many great options however. Highly recommend.. we will be back soon! read more

What a gem of a place in the Green Tree area! I attended their soft opening/fronds and family event and was able to try a sampling of their dishes in a family style setting. It was lovely and all of the food was amazing! The pasta is made fresh and the food is scratch cooking. This is the kind of place I've been hoping for in this area for many years. So excited to have another BYOB restaurant, and its chef owned so you know that the food is going to stand out. They have lunch Wed-Fri and dinner Wed-Sat. Liquor store right up the street makes byob easy! read more

We had to cancel our Easter Brunch reservations because our father had a taken a bad fall the day before. When we notified the restaurant they were very understanding. A new hidden gem of the south hills!! Food was outstanding and the serving was excellent. We had the warm mushroom salad and the Caesar which were both a nice twist on classic dishes. We also had the best greens and beans I've had outside of Italy. The sweet sausage is made in house as well. For the main we split the bolognese which was made with fresh pasta and delicious. They are also BYOB which is always nice. We will definitely be back soon and bringing friends!! read more
