I happened to choose Alex since alphabetically he was at the top of the online booking options and have been going to him for the last 3 years. Consistently great haircuts and I never have to remind him of what sort of cut I get as he remembers every time. Super professional. Timely-no haircut has ever taken more than 15 minutes but not in a rushed way at all. Alex runs a really smooth operation.

But then they told me it was $25 because my haircut was "more complicated," which already felt misleading. Today, I came back and the same barber even remembered my face from two months ago. When I was approaching me he looked at me with a cold face, I ignored it and showed him a picture of what I wanted, and before I even sat down, he made it clear that I would have to pay a tip after the haircut. I told him I only had $25 total, and he said he couldn't give me a cut unless I could pay extra for a tip. That doesn't make sense. Tipping is supposed to be optional, not something you're required to pay. Being told upfront that I have to tip--and then being refused service because I couldn't--felt wrong. On top of that, the haircut quality here isn't even consistent. Sometimes it's too short, sometimes uneven. At this point, I'd rather go somewhere cheaper where prices are clear and there's no pressure. Customers shouldn't be turned away just because they can't pay extra beyond the stated price.
