It's the most…read moreexpansive public park I've come across and I heard this is merely stage one, there's still a 3 kidney bowl to come.. that may be worth a trip for me from New York when it's done if the caliber of flow and construction is anything like the skate plaza. The park is wide open with no fence (hope it stays that way), creating a super inviting vibe. The concrete is well poured and as a result, beautifully smooth.. just pushing around it's amazing to hear your bearings singing with little pavement noise. The park is very well designed and totally possible to flow it end to end with countless lines, not to mention totally bangin one hitter spots if you're the type to keep trying one trick until you nail it (as was the case with most of the groms there the day I was). You can really get into whatever type of session you want.. I loved hitting the various wallride transfers and cruisin the park old head style, but there were cats layin down 8' drops down the big banks at the back and kids throwin kickflip crooks on the low ledges. Hopefully Ashbridges will stay clean of bad graffiti and the attention that comes with it, if not at least for better backgrounds in footage and photos. This IS a destination skatepark, take care of it.

The street section is also mostly advanced, not much fun if you aren't a good/very good skater, some ramps/higher incline would have been nice. I've been a few times and have no desire to return. Honestly it's smaller but I think 8th St in Etobicoke is a far better park, so is Iceland in Mississauga.

I was always able to take public transit there or get my parents to drive me. It's a large park to have a stroll, picnic or to play in the playground. It was a lot of fun being there. I would be surprised and forget how big it was just cause I didn't always have the opportunity to explore the park. Also, I remember a time where people were able to fly kites till it was banned. I don't know if they still do fireworks. For a time, the park would arrange fireworks on Canada Day and a lot of people would attend. During events like this, people would park at the Alton Towers plaza, walked or transit there because parking was limited. Local high school students would do their volunteer hours at the community center on the park. I think they need to apply online through the main city website (if memory serves me correctly).

Some decent hills for toboganning in the winter too! Nice shady areas and a number of gazebos availble for private picnics (must reserve spot with city to obtain permit). Well maintained garden area thats beautifu in the summer. Short trail with nice views of the foliage in the fall. A great park to visit during all seasons. Very lively place. People there at all times of the day even on weekdays but never felt like its too crowded. Plenty of space for all to enjoy. Lots of parking. Ice cream truck is often in the lot by the playground selling the usual overpriced items. There is a washroom onsite.

(WARNING: THIS REVIEW WAS MADE ON SEPTEMBER 2024. REVIEW MAY NOT BE ACCARUATE LATER ON)…read more McGregor Pool. A place where you could unwind. right... right?? So we will only be two topics Pool and staff so lets go! POOL: Alright so right off the bat. my visits. there was a kid who threw up 2 times different times and different days. And that was couple of days after it just opened. now its like what. but the rest of the times. it was good. Its very cold for cold weather. but if hot. it could be amazing. like amazing amazing. in case of babys bathrooms or shower. There are shower rooms that have showers then a dressing room (sometimes its locked sometimes its not) it just depends. but back to the topic there is a bathroom. now A QUICK WARNING. because people are going to need it. if you are a boy. who needs to use the washroom. if you go to the boys shower room and head to the bathroom. there is only one stall. now if you head to the unviersal. there is multiple. and the showers are the same only 4 for all shower rooms. there is a office for FIRST AID and more. STAFF: Now this one is going to be pretty short unlike the pool one. because well there isnt much things to say. some staff are nice some are not. and thats kind what sums it. as there really isnt nothing else to say expect most of the staff are nice. SHOULD YOU GO TO THIS POOL: Yea! Its peaceful sometimes. can get a bit crowed but if you are near mcgregor and want to go do a quick swim. this is your place! - Ethan K.

I remember spending 13 days in four different Toronto community centres including this one from 24-Dec-2013 to 04-Jan-2014. The North American event was called the 2013 Toronto Ice Storm locally. So much of this city was impacted by the significant severe winter weather storm that included a crippling blanket of ice that forced Toronto to open up a number of community centres as emergency shelters. I even celebrated my birthday here during a midnight shift, complete with a cake that another volunteer bought and then totally surprised me with! The staff here were terrific, then and now. What great memories about what these functional community centre are when times were really tough, and when I'm only here to freely exercise my democratic right to Vote!

There's a parking lot available and even at noon on a sunny day, we were able to find parking really easily. If you're just dropping people off there's actually a little roundabout closer to the park side where you can drop off people. In the summer I think that part of this area is a splash pad. There were some tall colourful flowers that were there and I imagine they spray water. You can use the change rooms to put your skates on right now. They have rolled rubber walkways all the way up to the entrance/exit of the building so you can walk out in your skates. There are benches and hooks that you can use, although there are notices to advise you not to leave your belongings in there. There are also washrooms and water filling stations in these facilities. On to the skating! There's an arena with boards that is used for hockey practice and shinny - no leisure skating is done here. There's a trail that is a squiggly circle around a little bit of green space. There is the faintest hint of uphill during one of the turns which is a little different than other rinks around the city. At the top of this is conveniently some giant cut stones that you could potentially sit down at if you need to fix your skates or something like that. The Zamboni did come out once during our time there to resurface the ice which was much needed. The only annoying thing that we encountered during our skate here was that there was a ton of hockey player spillover into where people were skating. Kids were stick handling and shooting pucks back and forth which wasn't really the greatest experience. There did seem to be some City of Toronto staff on hand but they weren't able to help.

There were maybe a dozen other skaters, leaving lots of space to skate freely. There is a standard hockey rink at the west side also, but the leisure skating takes place on a somewhat squarish trail, about 10ft wide with a few extra turns, and a wider space with some large stones for seating at the north end towards the railway tracks. The ice surface has been good and smooth each time, and seems to be well-maintained. I also read online that the skating areas were recently renovated. I have noticed that there is always a noticeable wind that blows across the eastern side where there are no buildings (or trees in the winter). There is also a building next to the trail with a changing area and washrooms, and there is always 1 or more staff members on the trail itself. In addition to the skating, there is a children's playground that also looks fairly new and a soccer field (with possibly a second field at the far end of the park) and a decent-sized parking lot near to McCowan Road. The area itself is rather quiet and isolated, with only a few industrial buildings in the distance and a residential neighbourhood across the street. Overall, I like the skating trail, and this is one of the few parks in Scarborough that offers outdoor skating.
