    Matt's Moving

I decided to leave the outrageous prices of California for life in the Midwest. The notion to move…read moreall my items from California is a big mess, but I was referred to Matt's Moving company from my buddy who convinced me to move to Minnesota. This was my first time using a moving company and it by far was better than I ever imagined. All my items were delivered in perfect condition and they even unpacked my items in their respected rooms. After I got all my items, all I had to do was put things in the shelves, and my house was finished. Talk about a very easy process! God bless Matt's team. I hate moving, but using Matt's Moving service it made it a lot by 1000%.

Our move was scheduled to start at 10:00 am on a Saturday morning. The night before our move, in…read moreJanuary in Minnesota, we got 8-10 inches of snow. The movers were coming to our town from 30 miles away. We were advised at 9:30 am that the movers and truck would be 1 hour late, arriving at 11:00 am. They stated they were having engine trouble and the truck wouldn't start. We understood, this is cold MN in the winter. We agreed this was fair, knowing the road conditions would improve also in another hour. 11:00 am rolled around...no movers. We called customer service. We ended up being told they would arrive at 12:00 pm. This was starting to press our timeline, as we were supposed to be out of the house by 3:00 pm. We reluctantly agreed, what else could we do? Well, 12:00 pm rolled around...still no movers. We called again. My husband ended up in a heated discussion with customer service. We were told they would call us back... they crew was still figuring out their engine issues. At this point, I offered to drive to Rochester to rent a U-Haul if the moving crew would just show up at my house in whatever vehicle they could to load said truck. Customer service told me that wasn't necessary. (Boy, were they wrong!). We went around and around with customer service 3 or 4 times. Eventually we were told that they were sending a completely different truck and crew from the Twin Cities and they would arrive by 4:00 pm. 4:00 pm?!? We were supposed to be out of our house at 3:00 pm! Well, one thing let to another and we moved what we could in our own vehicles...we had already wasted all morning waiting on the crew, we didn't want to waste the whole afternoon as well! Come a few minutes before 4:00 pm, the truck showed up. These guys, by no fault of their own, were already tired. They said they'd already done a full move in the Twin Cities that day and then got sent to our house. Seriously?! I hope they got a huge bonus! Bless their hearts, they worked their butts off!! BUT... we didn't get out of the first house until almost 7:00 pm and didn't get moved into the new house (7 city blocks away) until after 9:00 pm...we were supposed to be done by 4:00 pm! I was in tears, my husband was beyond upset. This was supposed to be a happy, carefree, easy move for us! I called customer service on Monday and asked how they were going to make this right, as customer service on Saturday told us there would be a "significant decrease in the amount due". Well, our bank account got charged the entire $750. When I spoke with the person who could "make it right" they offered me a 5% refund, then a 10% refund, and then settled on their "best offer" of a $100 refund. I took the $100, hoping for no more whammies! Long story short, I can't say I would ever recommend this company. I was not pleased with anything but how hard their crew worked, once they finally arrived. But, I suppose we'll always be able to hold onto the memories of what a nightmare this move was... and hopefully someday we can laugh about it!

Great Western Moving - Loaded with care

    Great Western Moving

DO NOT HIRE - BAIT AND SWITCH SCAM! I'm warning anyone considering Great Western Moving - STAY…read moreAWAY. This was by far the worst moving experience I've ever had, and the price more than DOUBLED once my belongings were loaded. They REFUSED to unload until we paid the full amount -- and demanded cash. Initial Quote: After submitting a detailed, itemized inventory, I was quoted $1,687 for 4 movers. This included: Truck and fuel fees Unlimited padded blankets Loading, unloading, unwrapping, reassembly, and item placement No extra fees for stairs, long carries, or bulky items (confirmed by Matt Pierce in writing and calls) I specifically requested 4 movers because our move was same-day (we were closing on one house and moving into the next, just 2 blocks apart). Matt confirmed it would take 4 hours to load and 2 to unload. He said they do this all the time and unloading only takes half the time as loading Booking: Matt was responsive and helpful before the move. He answered questions, reassured me that all costs were included (unlimited padded blankets, disassembly, wrapping, loading, unloading, unwrapping, reassembly, and proper placement, and said additional fees in the contract (Bulky items, long carry, stairs, etc) only applied to long-distance moves. I felt confident in the process. BIG mistake. Moving Day Nightmare: Only 3 movers showed up -- the 4th arrived nearly 3 hours late. The foreman was rude, demanded water (after we had already offered), and even demanded food from my elderly parents who were helping WHILE we were gone at the closing signing paperwork. If we would not have helped (along with the parents and their truck) so much during loading, they would NOT have been out in time for the deadline that was reiterated constantly from getting the quote through loading. I do not think there was a minute to spare. Once at the new house, they refused to unload until we paid the new total of $3,509 -- more than $1,800 OVER the quote. This delayed EVERYTHING as they sat doing nothing for an HOUR until we got back. I was never informed about "drive time pay" -- but they suddenly added it, even though Matt had the exact addresses. They also charged $416 for 'packing', with no explanation. Poor Workmanship: They damaged our hardwood floors, dropped and stacked boxes upside-down, and even brought in FURNITURE upside down (fireplace TV stand) They claimed 4 hours were needed to unload and required payment upfront -- but finished in 3. We hurried the process by just having them put boxes in the garage/driveway to avoid further damage and save time. Only one mover actually worked hard; the rest were slow and took repeated smoke breaks. The Final Insult: After all of this, the foreman demanded a tip. Unbelievable. No Response: I've called and emailed the company multiple times. ZERO response. No apology, no explanation, no refund. AVOID GREAT WESTERN MOVING AT ALL COSTS. This company is unprofessional, dishonest, and operates on bait-and-switch tactics. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone.
