I terms of ducts/vents cleaning they are OK. But if you expect an A+ customer service - look somewhere else. They managed to collect some items that have fallen into the ducts (f. ex. small toys, office objects etc), but failed to ask if we want to see what exactly they collected. They disposed it into the garbage without a second thought. Their justification was an ignorant :"You've never asked..." So, be aware - if they find something in your ducts while cleaning, you SHOULD ask them to, at least take a look at what was there (we never found out, we can only guess). Afterall - it is your property and ONLY you can decide in this case. It is not obvious for some folks, as we found out.)) When I booked my appointment and they said they'll be here between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. I work nights so I stayed up waiting for them when I got home at 7 am. then I got a call saying it's going to be between 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. then I got a call saying it's going to be between 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. I wasted my entire day and didn't get any sleep for someone who might not even come so I just canceled my so-called appointment I called this company because of its good reviews but that's not the case at all. STEER CLEAR OF THIS ORGANIZATION. My wife hired Alberta Furnace cleaning to do our house and I'm sorry I wasn't around for it. The cost is through the roof and the job they did was sub par. They're also really good with all the extra fees. you have to pay them to clean the HRV for $65; this is something every home owner can do themselves. I do it every 3 months when I change my filter. It takes 5 minutes and they did a horrible job of it. Find another place that won't cost $550 for a normal sized home. Just an absolute joke. read more

I've hired this company a couple of times and they don't disappoint. The two technicians arrived within the prescribed time period. They were very polite and respectfully covered their shoes before entering my home. They clearly presented the cost for the procedure and were available for any questions or concerns I might have had. They offered me a special reusable furnace filter but didn't press when I decided against it. I wasn't interested in spending another $150 in addition to the standard fee. I would have ordered the dryer vent cleaning but the extra $59 was too much for my limited budget. I may consider it next time if they give me a loyalty discount. The reason I didn't give them five stars is because they didn't phone me at the designated time to let me know estimated arrival. We were extremely disappointed with Alberta Furnace Cleaning!! Not sure if they have changed owners or what. I set an appointment to have our furnace, ducts and dryer vent cleaned in our four level split. The Ad stated $259 for one furnace and unlimited ducts. Our quote came in at just under $300. Once the technicians came they were asking for over $500. His reasoning for the price difference was due to having to go into the crawl space and the number of ducts in our home. What 4 level split home doesn't have a crawl space? That doesn't change the number of ducts! And why wasn't that mentioned as part of the initial quote? I was asked what type of home and square footage, prior to the quote. We have NEVER had to pay additional for people entering the crawl space to access the ducts! I reminded them of the Ad. We were told these were all standard charges. Then why is that not stated in their Ad? (This is our Ad price, however, there will be numerous additional costs, but, don't worry they are standard.) End of the day, we asked them to leave and we called a more reputable company that charges you what they quote! Not an inflated price after they arrive. Their Ad is obviously a scam to get their foot in the door. We will never use this company again nor recommend them. Consumers be aware! read more

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Had my furnace cleaned today , left right behind them to come home to a cold house , tried light furnace wouldn't light called them, they basically said they did nothing wrong and would not send a technician call a heating and plumbing company ! That would mean an expensive after hours call! The gentlemen were very friendly and courteous. They wore their masks due to COVID. The floors were protected as were corners of the walls. I have a very simple house to clean so they were here for about 45-60 minutes at the most. I had called Alberta Furnace Cleaning as they have done our furnace cleaning and ducts in the past and we were always happy with the service. We had called them out to do it again and now were were told they could not so any work because of some asbestos tape, tape that was there the other times and posed no issue. They left without giving information or anything. Why is there such an issue now and not before? Makes me think that AFC were not as thorough in the past as they seem to be now. I booked Alberta furnace cleaning company for a clean 1.5 weeks in advance. I was told it would be between 12pm and 5pm. I took the afternoon off to be home and received a call saying they would be by between 3:30-4:30. 5 pm rolled by so I called and was told maybe another 30 minutes. I asked to cancel and was offered 20 bucks off for wasting my entire afternoon away from my job. I declined. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking to get something done in a 5 hour window. read more

Let me first say that this is the first negative review I have had to write about a company, I am not one to scrutinize a company or pick apart their efforts. However, I feel my entire experience with Alberta Furnace Cleaning was not positive. I chose this company as they regularly send coupons in the mail for a $129 Furnace Cleaning. I scheduled an appointment for a weekday AM (so that I could go to work in the PM). I received a quote for $269 because the basic furnace cleaning did not have any additional options and you have to pay for environmental fees. Ok fair enough. They called me twice to confirm my appointment and then they called two days before to see if I could re-schedule the appointment to that day because they were in the area and they had cancellations. I said no. Then they called the day before my appointment to advise the two hour window they would be showing up and said it was going to be between 12:00-2:00PM. I had to ask why they aren't coming in the morning and she said they were scheduling appointments by location because it worked better for them. I had to accept as this was the only day that week that worked for me. They should ask if this was OK with me as I had to miss work that afternoon. Two guys came in and cleaned the furnace and AC - They were nice and considerate, I don't have anything negative to say as they seemed to know what they were doing and were probably being pressured by the company to sell things. They told me they were going to replace my air filter with a washable filter and I said OK. They never told me this was an extra or how much it would cost. When I received the invoice at the end of the appointment, they charged me $169, I could have bought one on Amazon for $40. The gentleman says well, the filter is good forever because it's washable so it's worth the money and you won't have to get another furnace cleaning for 4 years. And then they put a sticker on my vent saying my next cleaning was in 2 years. I had to remind them three times to apply my coupon towards the service as they presented my bill without it on there. My total bill came out to $557 - More than 3X the coupon value and 2X what I was quoted for because of additional vents. The standard price includes 10 vents to be cleaned which I assumed would be for a standard size house and did not think I would have much more than that, if any. I live in a small townhouse (1200 SQ Feet) and I had 9 additional vents to pay for. They called the day after my appointment to see how it went and I told them all of this and the lady says "Oh sorry to hear that, is there anything else I can help you with?". I told her I later realized they didn't clean one of my vents because they left a vent cover on there and said I would like to be reimbursed for the one vent because they didn't clean it. She agreed and said she would send me a cheque for the difference (because cheques are convenient right?). It's been 3+ weeks and I haven't received anything. I will look elsewhere next time I require a cleaning as I feel like this was not an honest service. read more

Alberta Furnace sent another employee (Benito) to carry out the cleaning in an effort to make things right and included the A.C cleaning at no charge. This gesture was well received even though I'm not the one paying and came across as a genuine attempt to resolve the situation. The new employee (Benito) was nice, respectful and did a good job at cleaning the vents. He also had a good personality and apologized for the bad experience the first time around. I would have given 4 stars based on my recent interaction with this company but I feel like they should have delivered this level of service the first time around so I'm updating the review from 1 to 3 stars. Thought about taking down the youtube video but realized that I never received an apology from the original employee (Alex) so the video of him will stay up until he calls and apologises. I hope that Alberta Furnace are taking the necessary steps to retrain him in order to prevent future incidents. I also hope that they are taking steps to improve the transparency of their pricing scheme for future customers. By that, I mean no hidden costs. Ideally, they should be asking every customer prior to the visit whether they have A.C or anything else that could drive up the price of the basic cleaning package. If the extras are not mandatory, then it's fine to try and upsell at the time of the visit but anything with a cost that is mandatory needs to be communicated and confirmed ahead of time. read more

No company is a complete scam unless you happen to deal with African billionaires needing to park money in your account. Alberta Furnace cleaning isn't in that league but they do have their faults. First the good news. You can book on the internet and they don't ignore you, they don't make assumptions that your home in Alberta is the same as every other one, they don't destroy your property in the process and they show up on time. The two technicians were polite and personable I really can't say that about other furnace cleaners I've had in the past. The bad news is that the internet advertised price is a bait and switch price. There will be all sorts of hidden charges on the bill by the time they're finished. But, Hey that's capitalism in Alberta, isn't it? What I consider more serious is that the technicians turned off the pilot lights in the gas fireplace and the hot water heater, leaving me without any hot water for my laundry and dishwasher. It's a good thing I discovered it before I stepped into the shower.the next morning. Also, they messed up the vent settings so it took several days to get the temperature around the house back in balance. I knew to expect that problem because every furnace cleaner I've had in the 28 years I've lived in this house has never finished the job properly in the way I expect. After they were gone, I received a call from a chirpy woman with one of these dumb one to ten rating questionnaires that avoided asking about any deficiencies in their work. I just moved to Edmonton and needed to get the ducts and vents cleaned at the house I moved into. Both my real estate agent and home inspector recommended Alberta Furnace Cleaning, so I opted to try them. I was very impressed with their service. Not only did they respond quickly to my website inquiry, but they called to confirm in advance of my appointment. Plus, the actual guys who came to clean the ducts were very nice, and explained everything in detail. They also wore booties on their feet so as not to dirty my floors. After the cleaning was done, I received a call from the office to confirm everything went well and was asked a few survey questions. I liked that they took the time to make sure I was satisfied and asked my opinion about their service. All in all, great company and great service! I would highly recommend. read more

I agree with Joe. We also used this company, because you see the flyers everywhere. Theyr are a fraud. We contacted them to clean our furnace and we were going to use them to clean our carpets. We cancel the carpet cleaning after the deplorable service they did with the furnace. Our house is just a few years old and we dont smoke or have pets, it wasn't that dirty to beging with, but they didn't do nothing, when we complained, there excuse was that they had traines that day doing their job. Another think dont get fooled, by the offer of their flyers is a scam, the bill came at the end at $350 for doing nothing. They should be profiled in one of those shows that uncovers scams and probably they would be shut down for good read more

Recently had these guys clean our furnace and ducts. Positives... The two guys that showed up were polite and quick. They protected the floors and walls wherever they could. Negatives...One major downside is the company has these guys programmed to upsell upsell upsell. Not the workers fault for doing what he is told solely the companies fault. I questioned them on A/c bypass charge, I saw nothing extra done so they took it off the bill. Tech seemed a little foggy on new furnace and AC technology. That all said a average experience nothing to make me recommend them nothing to make me not recommend them. read more

I had my carpets done yesterday. Within 2 hours someone had already called me to check how satisfied I was. I hadn't come home yet as I was letting them dry so I couldn't say whether or not I was satisfied. When I got home I phoned them to say I wasn't sure if I was being super picky but there area few areas I felt could be cleaner. They were immediately apologetic, arranged a time for a senior tech to come and look and even though I'm not totally satisfied yet, the courtesy from everyone I dealt with is the reason I am giving this business 4 stars. I also reads one reviews that their techs were pushy, I think mine was very informative as to what the extra services are and how they will benefit me but at no time did I feel pressured. read more

We were very disappointed with our last visit from Alberta Furnace Cleaning. So much so that I'll likely never use them again. We've just completed years of renovations, including the install of 2 new furnaces, and decided to cap it all off with a duct cleaning. First off, it was a lot more expensive than I'd remembered; over $500 for our two story house and 2 (brand new) furnaces. When I found out that was barely an hour of work, it seemed a bit extreme, especially since both furnaces were brand new and therefore couldn't have needed more than a cursory cleaning. The number of ducts we were charged for was higher than last time, too, so either they only recently started counting cold air returns or they missed a bunch of ducts last time they cleaned. Second, they give a 6 hour window when they book. I was going to be home that day anyway, but if I was taking time off work to get this done that would have been a major inconvenience. They then call the day of the appointment to give a 2 hour window, but they ended up calling twice because the time changed, and still the guys showed up before the window I'd been provided. Again, not a big deal for me, but a big problem if I'd still been at work. Third, they tried to sell me permanent filters three times throughout the appointment, each time coming back with new arguments about why I shouldn't use the disposable ones. It would have cost me $330 for filters, and I would have had to vacuum them every couple of weeks. That's just not worth it to me, but they didn't want to let it drop. But the biggest problem is that they damaged my humidifier. We have flow-through humidifiers, so there is a drainage pipe that comes out the bottom of the humidifier, runs down the back of the furnace, and then into the floor drain in the basement. They had to cut an access panel in the plenum for the furnace, and did so immediately beside this drainage pipe, and in the process broke the connector between the humidifier and the drain. When they left I found a huge puddle of water behind the furnace, with water running out of the humidifier from the broken connection. Obviously the puddle wasn't there when they got there, and they were the only ones working in immediate proximity to that drainage pipe, so it's easy to deduce that they broke it. Accidents happen, so in itself this wasn't such a big deal, but when I called to complain I was first dealt with by someone who was incredibly condescending (kept telling me not to panic like I was somehow being hysterical), was initially told I couldn't speak to a manager, then dealt with a manager who kept trying to convince me they didn't break it. She kept talking over me and wouldn't even give me a chance to explain what was broken, and that she was misinterpreting the photos their techs had taken when they came back to look at the damage. The techs agreed it wasn't their fault - apparently they think it's likely they didn't notice standing in a small lake while cutting the access panel in the furnace that afternoon. They finally agreed to send someone to assess the damage, but weren't going to actually fix it until they'd done so. As I was unavailable for the following week and didn't want to be without my humidifiers for that long I insisted they send someone to repair it - not just assess it - or I'd get it fixed and send them the bill. I gave them part numbers and a detailed description of what was broken and how to fix it. After several hours on the phone and waiting for them to call me back they agreed to send someone the following afternoon, but wouldn't give me a time for the appointment. There's another afternoon I had to spend waiting around for them. The repairman himself was great. Called before he came, showed up when he said he would, polite, quick, fixed everything in 5 minutes and showed me his work. I'm glad I refused to pay for the service call until this damage was fixed. I suspect I would have had a harder time getting someone in to fix this had they already been paid. Update: after posting this review the company contacted me, apologized, made amends, and shared some of the steps they're taking to avoid problems like this in the future. The general manager, at the very least, impressed me, and I've therefore adjusted from 1 star to 3. If I use them again I would supervise the work, and do a review of the house with the techs before they go. read more

We called in to use a coupon that advertised ducts and furnace cleaning for $99. When they showed up, they claimed that the coupon was only good for 10 vents. Each additional vent was an additional $12.75. With an average house having 20 vents, that's an additional $120 plus they charge a disposal fee of $19. They further stated that in order to use the coupon, I had to have ALL of my vents cleaned. They walked out on me and when I contacted them to discuss my concerns, I was told that there were other companies out there willing to clean my vents. They get in the door for a claim of $99 but really, you'll be paying upwards of $200 with additional fees. I will definitely take my service elsewhere. read more

I took a full day off work as they only say book between 11 and 6, you would think it could be a smaller time frame, then had a call at about 12 noon stating the technician would be arriving between 4 and 6. Not thrilled as I could have worked half a day minimum and when I said if they can't come by 4 just cancel, the service rep. was not very sympathetic and that they would probably arrive later. It is November and dark at that time so I just cancelled. I don't think they value their client's time as much as their own, rather one-sided and did not provide confidence in the service. read more

I had my furnace cleaned this August by these people. They did a terrible job. My house is so full of dust. It has never been this bad before . Don't bother to call them and complain because they just team up on you. there team against me. And of course the gal that you talk to she knows everything right from the get go. She also says I should of made my complaint 2 days after it was done. Had I know there was only a 2 day warranty I would not of had them do it. Well I don't know about every one else out there but I usually don't use my furnace until winter. And that is when I notice all the dust. Normally I change the filter every couple of months after they got done cleaning it I now change them every month. I think the reason they have these so called specials in the summer is that they know you will not be using your furnace for a few months. By that time they are long gone and the 2 day warranty if over. I will book my furnace cleaning for late fall . BUT NOT WITH ALBERTA FURNACE CLEANING. GOOD LUCK OUT THERE read more

Alberta Furnace Cleaning: BLACKLISTED! "In the future, find a different cleaning company because we will not come out again for you." This is what we were told by the Alberta Furnace Cleaning company after they: 1) Were unable to identify the source of a toxic burning plastic smell coming from our furnace (which my husband and I ended up finding ourselves right on the heat exchanger after they left) 2) Completed what turned out to be an unnecessary cleaning of our ducts without "performing a complete inspection and carefully explaining the work that will be performed before it is done", such as they state on their website 3) Forgot to turn our hot water tank back on and somehow changed the temperature setting of the water, which later caused the pressure relief valve to blow, flooding our basement floor. We are thankful they did not charge us for the duct cleaning in the end, although it did require some persistence. The tone of the conversations with members of their staff was not always as courteous and professional as it could have been. Unfortunately, we had a bad experience with Alberta Furnace Cleaning, but despite everything, they mean well and really do try to keep their customers happy. Well...those who don't get blacklisted! Perhaps this is a new business strategy: the "play hard to get approach", used when there is no chance in hell customers will ever attempt to do business with a contractor again. I just had my furnace and vents done in my house. The Guys showed up right at the very end of the arrival time so I can't fault them for that. They were very courtious and professional and did top notch work. The only complaint I have is during the booking phase of this venture. I was NOT told that ALL the vents in the house had to be cleaned. I was quoted a price and at the end of the venture it DOUBLED!!!! Again I am not unhappy with the service from the techs....gold star to them! What a scam! Advertised "special" adds up to waaaay more when they get to the home. They pulled out all of my furniture, then presented me with their updated invoice for more than twice the advertised price. I sent them away without having my furnace cleaned because they wanted to charge me extra for cleaning an air conditioning system that doesn't exist. When I called to get clarification, I was told I could not speak to a manager. The woman on the phone was very condescending, telling me that people don't understand what kind of furnace system they have. I have owned my home for twenty years; this is not the first time I have had my furnace cleaned, but the first time I have been asked to pay extra for components that don't exist. read more

Nothing but grief. We tried three times to get these people to clean our air ducts. They came to our house three times without ever cleaning the ducts, for a variety of reasons. The last time they said they would not clean the ducts because they feared their truck might be ticketed for parking on a residential street without a permit, in spite of assurances from the police that this would not happen. They also called me at 6:55 am to tell me they would be coming at 8:30 to clean the ducts. In the end they didn't clean the ducts, I had to stay home from work waiting for them and got a 6:55 wake up call. Be warned. read more

After getting a Hvac tech into my house to inspect my furnace not working, I was told I needed a new Thermostat module. Although requested, and with repeated phone calls to the office, I was not given a call back on the price of this for 4 days. Ironically, it was only when they called for a customer service check up that I did get a response on a price for the item. They quoted me $425 plus installation. When I had a online competitor quote for $95 for the identical part I questioned the cost only to be told it is an Hvac issue.
