Advised agency of these issues and attempted to email the owner, no follow up. The care manager seemed inexperienced and not interested in trying to improve our experience or keep our business. We were in the car driving because we live 40+ minutes away. The remaining appointments were silently cancelled shortly after. The office did not bother to call us, we called them before our scheduled appointment to verify. No one answered so we left a message. Our call was not returned. We called another location that didn't offer OT, and they are the ones that told us all our appointments had been cancelled. Without commenting on Maggie's competency, we find the treatment we were given by the front office utterly unacceptable.

Long story short, he stole a lot of money from my sister, he alienated her from her friends, her neighbors and our family. He convinced her to remove me as POA and he took over her bank accounts by lying to her. When he was finally fired, he moved in with her. This all happened in less than three months. He seemed as though he was a seasoned scam artist. He took off with her when the police arrived to serve the Order of Protection. Multiple welfare checks by police, multiple reports to adult protective services and finally court dates convinced my sister he was not going to marry her and she began to realize the truth. It was an absolute nightmare. I don't know what kind of background check they did on this Lowlife, if any. Not to sound sexist, but perhaps they should revisit their policy of sending male caregivers to wealthy widows.

The facility manager quickly came up behind me asking if he could help with anything. He was professional and explained that that extra storage is in the med room and probably not the most secure option as they get donations for other people and the briefs and wipes at a free for all. I can get mom free standing floor cabinets for her things but started to wonder how much of that first showing was sales pitch. I thought the front desk lady should get another opportunity to be positive. My wife's salon gets fashion magazines that pile up and when I asked her if they would be interested in them I received the same condescending attitude again. I am a paraplegic who uses a wheelchair to ambulate and I am quite aware when I'm being dismissed. The leasing agent also pointed out the non existent smoke detector, non functional refrigerator, and a blank plate cover in need of repair. At that point I did not feel like I could approach the front desk lady anymore as she was still chatting with the same resident and gave me the same condescending attitude twice already. Not looking too good when the main contact point person pushes folks away with a terrible attitude towards communication. I waited till I got home to call the number of mom's activity coordinator. She was not in but thankfully I spoke with Destiny who quickly answered my concerns and came up with a plan to get it addressed. Front desk lady is obviously not interested in helping me at all as she could've easily directed me to the person on the phone. The entire time I was there no one came by to check on mom in her room. This was over a few hours on a Friday. That does not jive with what my wife and I were told in the initial visit. I'll change this post as mom stays there longer. I hope things get better from here. If not there are other places at this price point and care level. Destiny was able to get the fridge going and was respectful when she spoke with me. I will not be paying any attention to the ableist working at the front desk bringing questions and concerns to the more professional staff.

She gave up waiting and tried to go by herself, and ended up tripping over her oxygen tube and falling. She broke several bones and ended up at UNM hospital during COVID-19. She didn't qualify for surgery to set her broken bones and was taken to a home with hospice care. Elmcroft was rude and put her belongings on the curb, eviction style. My grandmother passed away a few weeks later from injuries sustained from falling here, all caused by lack of response to her calls to use the restroom.
