Stopped in here yesterday to look at new jewelry for a helix piercing and I was so pleasantly surprised by the price of the jewelry! Granted, it is surgical steel and not gold of course making the price better, but I was so happy to have several simple options to pick from. I decided to go ahead and get a second helix piercing since I was below budget! The piercer here is so kind and truly did an incredible job. The atmosphere was very laid back and calm which is always a welcome vibe for a space to me! I can already tell that this piercing is healing nicer than ones I have had in the past. When I travel to a new city, instead of getting a souvenir like a t-shirt or anything, I get a new tattoo to remember it by. I call it my travel sleeve. So when I landed in St. Louis, I knew I had to get something to add to my sleeve. I remember seeing this spot on a list of the best shops in the country so it shot to the top of my list. After doing some research and checking out the artists, I made an appointment. The shop has such a cool vibe to it. I have never been to a shop this big and having such a diverse group of different artist styles. I opted for Kayla to do my tattoo this time. I loved what I saw on her Instagram and knew she would do a great job. I went for something a little more on the basic side. I wanted something that represented STL and went with the Fleur de lis option we came up with. Kayla was so great throughout the whole session and really took the time to make sure everything was perfect. I am so happy with this tattoo and experience. I went to the location on Chippewa, very welcoming, clean, friendly shop, Heidi is a tattoo goddess she does amazing work and is very easy to talk too the whole process was pretty easy from scheduling to finish. The other artists were nice, did not have that attitude you can get sometimes at other shops. My tat turned out beautiful I am very happy and will be back for sure. Tip : park in their lot next to the building and come in the side door, if you do go to the front entrance just don't linger outside the front of the shop the area near the bus stop , they can get some spicy characters later in the day. read more

Worked with Cody to design a *gorgeous* tattoo! I had a consult at the beginning of the month and was able to get an appointment only a few weeks out, which was super lucky. He was super easy to work with, really open to my input & changes, and printed several sizes of the stencil for me to choose between. He made me feel really comfortable and we talked for the entire hour of my tattoo which made it fly by. I can't wait to go back for another! They also offer free parking in the back -- signs say "authorized parking only" but that tattoo shop customers are included in that, so don't send money via PayPal like some signs say! read more

This was my first ever tattoo experience. Parking is a little tight at Alchemy, so you may have to park a street over to avoid pay-to-park in from of the store. The interior is well-lit, very clean and the staff were very friendly. My experience with my artist G was great. G Jones was very open and communicative with walking me through all of the pre and post tattoo care. On inking day, she was very professional. They charged me $30 for a consult which would have been cool if they told me it would be $30 but they went out of their way to hide pricing when I asked so that sucks. I came for a cover-up and the guy pushed so hard for +$1300 commission coverup and when I asked about the other designs he commissioned he just kept saying it wouldn't be as good and kept pushing for a design I didn't want at this point because I was uncomfortable. It's an inclusive, welcoming, spa-like atmosphere, and I'm overall very pleased with my decision...After viewing the various portfolios, I chose Christa as my artist, and she's just lovely to work with. From consult and concept, throughout the process, she put me completely at ease, My particular tattoo (Sacred Heart) is ripe with symbolism, and I was very specific about what elements I wanted to include. If you want to walk in and get a tattoo 10 minutes after you decide to get a tattoo, this might not be the place for you. For some quality, well planned work, bookmark Alchemy. Chelsea is difficult to get an appointment with, in a good way. She's picky about what she spends her time on and has a long wait time. Get one the website and add yourself to her wait list to be notified when she's booking, then you'll get a chance to book if she accepts your idea. She's an excellent artist and keeps you company while working. I personally think she works pretty fast and her rate was super reasonable. The design I gave her had tons of line work (see photo) and she nailed it. Once she noticed I was getting quite uncomfortable (after ~2.5-3 hours), she got it to a stopping place that I could live with, even if I didn't make it back. I will go back for another hour or so, but it looks awesome. I've heard great things about the other artists, although I do not have experience with any of them. The shop is cute and sunny, and located right on Cherokee to get your churros before or after. read more

Jessie did such an amazing job on my tattoo. I honestly had very little to go off visually, I sent her a few pictures I sort of liked, we talked about a few things, and it seemed like she instantly understood what I wanted during the consultation. I love all the work she has done for me! I also have permanent makeup done by Nicole. She is amazing! First got eyeliner. Wasn't sure exactly what I wanted and she said she understood my ideas. Perfect job! Next got my eyebrows done. Never done anything with eyebrow pencil. But I love them. I have never taken selfies because i hated what my pictures looked like. Worked with Derek for my first tattoo. We started with a consultation, since I had questions. He was patient with me and walked me through all the steps. He asked good questions to understand my vision of what I wanted. We split my tattoo into two sessions, the first with the line work (which would have been good enough to stop there) and a second appointment for shading and to add some details I wanted after seeing how amazing it was. The final product is better than I dreamed. Derek was great to work with. Considerate of my needs. A good listener and good at explaining the process. And he's also a nice guy. I had my first tattoo done here by Jessie and am very pleased. (I've also heard great things about Chelsea, however she has a very long wait time so beware). She worked with me on the design a little and definitely cared about doing her best work as an artist and creating something I would be happy with. She is a perfectionist about getting all the little details right which is exactly what I want in a tattoo. The environment is very open and I felt comfortable speaking my opinions and asking questions, even if they were probably dumb or weird. If I get another tattoo I'd definitely come back here. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Earth Alchemy! First of all I love that its female owned and Chelsea is super nice; everyone here is so responsive to requests and really friendly, it feels like you've known them forever. I get easily intimidated and even though this wasn't my first tattoo I can see how much of a difference there is between here and where I got my last tattoo. They are very welcoming here from the first consultation to the actual appointment. I had my consultation with Chelsea but was tattooed by Jessie, who was AMAZING! She responded to my emails within the day and we were able to work out what I wanted after my consult with Chelsea and my initial deposit. Jessie has a great eye for detail and she's a perfectionist which I appreciate, as well as a really pleasant and sweet person in general. She spent three hours on two tattoos for me, on my ribs and my sternum, and took her time to make sure they were up to par. She is pretty lighthanded as well but I do have a higher pain tolerance so that probably also had something to do with it. I'm moving to Kansas City soon but will be back to have Jessie do my future tattoos as well, that's how amazing she was! The shop itself is very clean and in a prime location on Cherokee with a lot of street parking. I highly recommend everyone trying this place out, I know it hasn't been open as long as the other places in town but this definitely the new place to go! I have been a customer at three different tattoo places in the St. Louis area (mostly because the artists I went to and LOVED either moved or were MIA by the time I went back), but this place had the most condescending and rude artists I have ever met. It seems like the owner might be great, but I'm not sure how if she is hiring terrible people to act as the face of her shop. read more
