I will say the people that work here are super nice. That is why I gave 2 stars. That being said, I am a professional who brought 1100 lbs of communication cable to this place. I un bagged it and put it in their bin. Their scale said it was 842 pounds. This is not accurate at all. It was over 1000 pounds I know this because I weighed it. I took my copper wire south and sure enough, their scale in santarita County was on the money. I will not becoming back with my non ferrous, I've lost to much trust. 200 lbs or more is unacceptable when you are a weights company. read more

I went here to recycle (and get paid) for my old Jeep Rims. The place isn't laid out to good and I was lost on where to go to get my rims weighed and where to park. I had to ask 3 different workers all of whom directed me to different areas. Finally because this place is small, I was able to get to the correct area, had my rims weighed, and processed paperwork to get my pay. According to law, I have to wait 3 days for my check to be mailed/or picked up. I elected to have it mailed. If you're in the Vallejo/Benicia area, this is an alright place to recycle your metal/aluminum/alloy. I just wished their directions were a little more transparent. read more

F this place. You need 500lbs of metal to get paid. That's a washer, dryer, stove, water heater, fridge, and a set a rims to get that weight. They basically want local residents to donate their shīt. Come one. Break off the locals with a couple of bucks. Why scam your customers? You're encouraging people to steal metals just to meet your quarter ton requirement. Apparently, at least 200 LB of ferrous metals must be dropped off to become eligible to be paid for delivering scrap iron here; but, we did not see that requirement posted anywhere on the premises. read more

Came here today at 12 pm. Was told it was best place to take scrap. Apparently it's lunch time. 30 min break. Then i wanted to leave but my truck was pinned in. Had to wait 40 mins. while a huge crane moved huge pieces of heavy metal over, around and dangling above my vehicle with other people standing nearby. Not safe at all.1 hour later and still waiting. Just for a few pieces of scrap. Not worth the hassle or my safety. read more

We waited 3 and a half hours for three little poles to be cute!!! The staff @ this Alco are the laziest i have ever seen. One of the staff members left all his customer waiting to be helped and went to his gray Nissan to eat his Banana, watched something on his phone with his Ac on is truck running the whole time then proceeded to take a long ass Nap!! WTF You could of asked someone else to help your line of customers you abandoned. Supposedly no Supervisors around to make sure customers are being helped. This place is a complete and utter scam. Two weeks and still no check. They will rate all copper the same (2) even if it's spotless. They should be audited by someone other than the worthless state. Save yourself time and frustration and go somewhere else. I'm going to talk to a family member of mine that works at the Vallejo paper and see what they can do about calling this scam out. I was told to take my scrap around back and see Luis, well Luis couldn't be ound or was to busy to get out of a crane, so I didn't get a yellow slip, the cashier ask me to back a get a yellow slip, I'm in a walking boot. Just took 100lbs of bright and shiny copper in and they paid $2.78 a lb I call my old place in San Diego that I used to go to and it $3.50 a lb and $3.60 a lb if you have over 100 lbs. Is this even legit? Maybe I'll hold on to it the next time...... read more

Horrible prices. Long waits to scrap and take your information. They will not even give you a quote for "house wire" over the phone. They act like they don't even know what it is. Thieves! I had them pick up my 12 foot steel recycle bin that I owned that was full of recyclable metals. I called them every day for a week trying to get my recycle bin back. After several weeks of getting the runaround they told me my container had been recycled and they didn't pay me for any of the contents of the bin or the bin itself. I've heard from several other local businesses that this is just how they operate. I don't know how a business can survive with such a horrible reputation. read more

Sale guy quoted me 85 dollars hourly rate to weld. He told me it would take 4 hours to make a skate rail and parts was like 37 for material. But he could not help me since I was not familiar with this place. He could only help if I knew exactly what I wanted. Evidently their posted hours are as irrelevant as their regard for the customer. I was in line, with presorted, bagged cans, and 15 minutes before the posted closing time an employee told me to take a hike, that by the time he got done with the 3 other people ahead of me it would be later than he was willing to be there. I called the office as I left, a man answered and asked if I'd hold while he spoke to someone about the issue. Then a woman picked up the line and she either hung up on me or the call dropped. Maybe they should post an earlier closing time, or stop people before they get out of their cars. Or maybe they should get employees who have enough respect for themselves and others that they don't need to be a jerk to make themselves feel good. read more

I do a lot of business with the scrap yards in the Bay Area being a plumber. I faithfully turn my copper in twice a month and generally I can expect to get around $400. I separate the clean copper from the brass from the dirty copper and that allows me to maximize what I get. You can imagine how surprised I was when I was told I was only getting two hundred and seventy one dollars. This was apparently due to the market crash. When checking around I discovered that these prices were at least 75 percent lower than the norm. I discovered this as I was talking to a manager at an unrelated Alco iron and metal company scrap yard. All I was trying to do was get some sort of understanding as to how they determine their pricing from shop to shop. I was rudely hung up on. These guys must not like business. Unimpressed! read more
