We have been trying to contact Simar for over two months and he refuses to answer or return our calls. Since then we have had an envelope inspector do a report on the roof. He found that the workmanship was very poor, and that standard roofing practices had not been followed, causing major issues with the roof. We have a very long list of all the mistakes that were made. We have had several reputable roofing companies look at the roof, and they all believe that it should be replaced entirely. This will be more expensive than starting with a new roof as the old roof will need to be removed. This repair has majorly delayed the rest of the renovation. It has also added costs in terms of drywalling, general delay and also extended rental at our current home. Additionally, due to a bank error, Simar was overpaid $3200, which he acknowledged and promised to return to us. It is many months later and he has not returned the money, nor has he contacted us. We have a signed contract offering a five year warranty. Dealing with Simar and Save More Roofing has not only been very stressful, but in the end it will have cost us additional tens of thousands. We have been nothing but polite and have tried to resolve this peacefully, but there is no response form Simar.

However, he was never informed that a promise to clean the outside of the gutters, the garage doors, and the glass on the sundeck was made. The sales rep made several offers of these 'extras' and adjusted the price of the cleaning service down because "we're in the area so won't charge for travel to and from your location". After the windows were cleaned, I was informed by the salesperson that the price had jumped up by $55 because I couldn't pay until four days later when my pension cheque is deposited. I had made it VERY clear that I would happily pay on Friday but could not pay the day the work was done. The sales rep got very huffy and demanded the extra $55 "because you're paying 4 days after the work was completed". I think this is unfair for two reasons. First, there was no guidance for the actual cleaning person, my garage doors were never cleaned, and the poor kid looked at me as if he was in shock when I pointed out what the sales rep had promised. Secondly, I don't like being harangued about a price increase when I was extremely clear that I couldn't pay on the day the service was done. I do not recommend dealing with this company. I maybe old, but I hate being bullied.

Last week I hired Pedro and Peter's Shack Shine franchise to wash the interior and exterior windows of my 2300 sq. ft. house, for a considerable price. The two technicians that Pedro left on site were polite and responsive to my concerns. However, the two window washing techs were not experienced or trained enough to perform the service to the quality of what any homeowner would expect for a nearly $1,000 job. During their time on-site I noticed and had to bring to their attention entire windows, hard to access windows, and screens that had been entirely missed, screens that were not replaced, and spots that were attempted and left, and streaks and water spots that remained on the exterior windows and simply left behind. The worst aspect of the entire experience was with Pedro the manager himself. I attempted to deal with Pedro directly by texting him during the service provision letting him know that quality control was needed and that he should return to the house. All Pedro replied was that he was in touch with the window washers, he assured that I would be satisfied with the quality, and said he would not be returning. After that response Pedro ghosted me on the text string and did not respond to any further texts. With a house photographer due to arrive at my home I was forced to spend the next 60+ minutes walking around the home repeatedly and coaching the two window washers myself to complete the windows to a satisfactory level. I asked for a discount to account for my time that it took me to direct and coach Pedro's employees. I might have been satisfied with a $100-150 discount. But, between Pedro and Peter the franchise owner, all I was offered was $25 for my negative experience. Neither Pedro by text afterwards, nor Peter over the phone a week later, would back down and resolve the situation to my satisfaction. They both simply made excuses such as "no one should have to supervise their own job, you may have misunderstood our process," and from Peter, "we never leave a supervisor on the job, the technicians on the job are qualified." I hope Brian Scudamore the CEO of Shack Shine reads this review. He should not be impressed. Like I said, I don't recommend hiring these guys.
