This review is just for the pre-approval process. My husband and I are first time home buyers and we went through 4 different lender pre-approval applications and qualified for all but Alderus. The communication (or lack thereof) was the worst part among Gina's snarky attitude. 1. It took 2-3 days for Alderus to call me back prior to me submitting our application. 2. It has taken over 2 weeks for us to hear back, so I emailed them to get an update. Apparently there had been some "miscommunication" and they were waiting for some information that I already provided to them. Gina then proceeded to say that I am not qualified without that information. She provided no explanation, did not take any time to explain why or go over the numbers that they had. Absolutely no customer service. She's a very cut and dry person which I guess is fine if you've already been through this process, however if you are first time home buyer or appreciate good communication from your lender, you may want to look elsewhere. Like I said, we have spoken with 3 other lenders and all of them have sent email after email, phone call after phone, text after text in order to go over the numbers with us, asking if we had any questions, and telling us what we needed to do to qualify for a higher loan. They were always available and explained everything, and were HAPPY TO DO IT which is GREAT for first time home buyers. Alderus / Gina did none of that. I barely heard back from them and when I did, she was hands down the rudest person that I have spoken with regarding this process. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere! read more

RUN AWAY!! Disorganized. Inept. Incompetent. Unprofessional. These are all words I would use to describe Alderus Mortgage. By way of background, I have been buying and selling properties for more than 30 years and this is THE WORST financing experience I have ever had. I am an attorney. I have very little debt, solid income, solid assets, and a credit score above 800. Originally, they said the loan was going to be "easy", and "no problem". It took Alderus nearly TWO MONTHS, with trips up and down to underwriting, the "Head of Risk Management" and ultimately the CEO, Coby Baker, who finally decided to decline this loan. All the while, Alderus was telling me I would have an answer "tomorrow". This went on for weeks! Even my realtor, a broker with 40 years experience was screaming at them. Alderus repeatedly asked for documents that I had already sent to them, even asking for documents I had sent just hours earlier. Every day it seemed there was a new requirement, a new document, something else they needed. By the time they had finished, I had sent them more than 1,000 pages of documents. And why did they decline? Because I lost money on an investment in 2020 and Alderus could not figure out the difference between an investment loss and debt! I did not borrow money for the investment. I did not owe any more money for the investment. It was an investment loss and not debt. I even sent them the dictionary definition of debt, and they still could not figure it out. This company drug this out for so long that except for the good graces and understanding of the sellers of the property we bought, Alderus would have cost me $20,000 in earnest money! It was an incredibly stressful experience. After Alderus declined my mortgage, I went to Melissa Foster at Evergreen Mortgage. I had a verbal approval within three days and my loan closed two weeks after that. No stress. No having to explain the difference between investment loss and debt. No going to "Risk" or the "CEO" or whoever else Alderus used to pass the buck. Just fast, friendly, professional service and a closed loan. RUN AWAY FROM ALDERUS MORTGAGE!!! read more

Michael Rodriguez and team were absolutely wonderful to work with! They made our home buying process extremely easy by thoroughly going over all of the most important information and were always very responsive when any questions came up. Everyone on the team that we dealt with were very pleasant and made sure that we understood everything that was needed and happening with our home loan. Julie is a savior! Her and her team worked day and night to help us successfully close on our first home - and the home that we wanted all along. The Team at Alderus is very responsive, and works for their client. We had a very complicated situation with moving cross country and trying to get financed with income that was not continuous. So, unfortunately our closing is delayed for the third time. It's always the appraisers fault. That parts over but we are waiting yet again on a third party in Michigan. We were supposed to close on the 13th, then the 16th , then today the 18th. We found out they are selling the loan and waiting on that . ( I had to call that third party in Michigan to find out what's going on !) Meanwhile, we are sleeping on a mattress on the floor, have no winter clothes, the family Thanksgiving will be spent at a hotel. We have to shut down the Pods, movers, appliance delivery for the 4th time tomorrow. (with NO date to close) I can't say I would ever recommend this company- and my husband and I are both in the Business. I've never experienced such poor communication and unkept goals. They should have been more upfront with us. Some employees are nice, but their hands are tied so it does not help us. We were so loyal to THEM that we bypassed the builders lender and $2000 credit because we felt they had worked and deserved to be paid. Now we're getting the shaft. Gina did a great job helping us get our refinance put through. I purchased my house about two years ago and just got married this year. I wanted to include my wife on the house and also re-finance before the end of the year (we were worried interest rates would jump). We began researching and looked at 4 different companies. We ultimately decided on Alderus, because Gina was the most helpful in not just deciding to refinance, but in what was the best option for us.
