This rating to me is more like a 3.5 star. This is a really nice store if you're after health…read moreforward products like vegetarian, vegan options. They also have a lot of teas, coffees and organic foods. There is a spice wall and tea wall for bulk bagged amounts. I enjoyed seeing health-conscious items as well such as no sugar added, protein desserts etc. However, things here are very expensive especially if they're harder to find in other stores in the area. I was surprised at how much tempeh cost here. I also was pretty put off by some of the pseudoscience posters, like one right at the entryway sharing how to stop diabetes naturally--without insulin. The employees were all very nice, polite and helpful. The store was clean and orderly.

With the produce being displayed on a wooden cart at the front of the store and apothecary style herbal and vitamin section. I was on a mission to find a skin care product a client of mine has been using for more than half a century and her skin is amazing! On the hunt for Weleda Skin Food the original formula. She mentioned Green Planet sold it so I took the short drive. I did find what I was looking for, the price is about $5 more than online or website. But skip the shipping and the wait and supporting local is a better option! This store is packed with many natural, nutrient dense, and wholesome products! No line for check out and friendly, informative staff.

Of course I saw some additional items that I wanted to try! It can be a little crowded and hectic on the weekends so I do try to get there early during the week.

One of the cashiers was available and came down to grab me and my cart, scanned and bagged all my items in a jiffy! We chatted about the new Easter and spring items, many of which I purchased, and the popularity of TJ's! After loading up my TJ haul, one of the employees doing some outdoor cleanup retrieved my cart. Spot on customer service. We need a TJ store in Liverpool, but it's probably better for my pocketbook that they are 25 minutes away!

GreenStar is my favorite market in Ithaca!! I think the prices, especially when it comes to vegan…read moreitems, are either similar or CHEAPER than Wegman's. They have such an extensive merchandise, and a wonderful prepared foods/baked goods section!! I recently tried the "Made to Order" sandwiches, and it was DELICIOUS. I made mine with BBQ seitan, hummus, vegan cheddar, vegan mayo, spring greens, tomato, + condiments on a baguette. So flavorful and such a wonderful size. I've also placed special orders for their cakes and it was sooo good. My family couldn't been believe it was vegan! Outside of their food, the staff is always super friendly and helpful with any inquiries. Additionally, the store is always super clean and never too busy. They also have CO-OP member savings which are amazing! I love GreenStar!! :)

Was great, now is sliding down hill…read more Quality was in local produce however, it is not uncommon to get a batch of local apples or sprouts which are rotten or past their prime even with the expiration date a week out. Staples like oat milk are a dollar more than at Wegmans - so you're paying again, beyond the yearly dues to support the co-op each purchase. Double check your made to order sandwich is correct as you might get a mystery sandwich- think they are in auto pilot when making You are also paying more than waiting for the farmers market and getting produce, say from Stick and Stone farm. People are friendly for the most part but that's is not the primary reason one goes there. They do have some good items to be sure and part of our mix but you are paying a premium but not always getting that in return, so three stars as average quality.

Before…read moreheading home, he had a particular lesser-known offbeat local landmark he wanted to see, which happens to be in the same neighborhood as the Coop. So while there we went into the Coop for some coffee and sandwiches, and enjoyed a nice curb lunch out front. The Coop has a variety of grab-and-go sandwiches in a cooler towards the front, near the self-serve coffee area, several of which are vegan. I tried the vegan chickpea salad pita. My husband had the vegan buffalo seitan on ciabatta bread. He went with the dark roast coffee, and I had the medium-roast Bird of Paradise blend at recommendation of one of the fun checkout crew guys. The staffer claimed it is the best coffee he's ever had. I hit the carafe at just the right time to be empty and necessitate a fresh brew ... and WOW, he was NOT kidding! What an EXCELLENT cup of coffee! I love a light, wispy coffee that is so utterly crisp that every sip is somehow both satisfying and vapid, like your palate is both satiated and cleansed all at the same time--and this wonderful palate-paradox is the exact experience with a fresh cup of Bird of Paradise! And as for the sandwiches, also delicious! My chickpea salad pita was creamy and crunchy, with a hint of spicy. My husband loved the buffalo seitan sandwich so much so that he nearly denied me a bite! But I did get one, and can concur YUM. We strolled the aisles a bit while we were there, and it is a sweet little grocer with a small selection of all of your typical market sections. The selection of vegan and specialty groceries, like keto and gluten-free, is well represented here, too. Vegan marshmallows were on sale, so we grabbed a couple bags, as well as a few bricks of vegan ramen. If we lived closer I would gladly shop here, at minimum come back for more of that Bird of Paradise coffee! The staff was super friendly, the prepared foods were delicious, the coffee was superb--enjoy this sweet little establishment Syracuse, what a gem! :-D
