This rating to me is more like a 3.5 star. This is a really nice store if you're after health forward products like vegetarian, vegan options. They also have a lot of teas, coffees and organic foods. There is a spice wall and tea wall for bulk bagged amounts. I enjoyed seeing health-conscious items as well such as no sugar added, protein desserts etc. However, things here are very expensive especially if they're harder to find in other stores in the area. I was surprised at how much tempeh cost here. I also was pretty put off by some of the pseudoscience posters, like one right at the entryway sharing how to stop diabetes naturally--without insulin. The employees were all very nice, polite and helpful. The store was clean and orderly. read more

Organic Health Food store. Tons of fresh organic produce, bulk foods, supplements, and more. Has the feel of an old fashioned local supermarket. With the produce being displayed on a wooden cart at the front of the store and apothecary style herbal and vitamin section. I was on a mission to find a skin care product a client of mine has been using for more than half a century and her skin is amazing! On the hunt for Weleda Skin Food the original formula. She mentioned Green Planet sold it so I took the short drive. I did find what I was looking for, the price is about $5 more than online or website. But skip the shipping and the wait and supporting local is a better option! This store is packed with many natural, nutrient dense, and wholesome products! This place is AMAZING!! Who knew there was such an awesome establishment in this cute little plaza in Fairmount?? They carry SO MANY local brands for fantastic prices. Everything is chosen so meticulously with all of my values in mind: wellness, sustainability, small and local business support, etc. I am definitely switching from Wegmans and Aldi because now I won't have to even think about what's organic or what's not--EVERYTHING is, and it's not going to break my budget! Green Planet has local (when available), organic produce, in-store made raw food and desserts as well as a selection of raw, organic items. They carry a large selection of local items and really support the local artisans. Good selection of kombucha, superfoods, bulk foods, raw nuts, organic/antibiotic free meats. Organic Very Berry Mix has no added sugar and is delicious!!! (Dried berries including pomegranate, goji, Inca and other delights). Good choice on Kombucha and other fermented drinks. Lots of bulk nuts, grains, and legumes. Some produce and frozen foods. Lots of GF breads (all frozen). Wish they had better hummus and yogurt choices. What a pleasant surprise in Oswego!!! read more

I went here for the customer appreciation day with high hopes. I usually go to Natur-Tyme when I am home so I was excited to potentially find another hub for my organic needs. The product selection is not bad, but the prices take advantage of the market. I try to support local businesses whenever I can and the high prices alone would not have scared me away, but the customer service was deplorable. At the check-out the employees were still trying to sell me products, even though I was already making purchases. They had raw dessert samples out earlier and the check-out lady asked if I had seen the other desserts. Excited, I thought she meant more samples, she coldly said, "No, to buy." Green Planet's employees shared an elitist attitude that really turned me off. The only kind, non pushy employee I found was the older woman who was sweet as a peach. read more

Took me way too long to check this place out. Great store. Fresh food of excellent quality, especially for a small store. Wonderful variety of bulk organics. More organic bulk grains and beans than Wegan's, Tops or Aldi's. Frozen food variety is exceptional, with many vegetarian and vegan options. Prices were surprisingly competitive. A wide range of products made in New York State, small and local producers. The store was very clean, well organized and staff was friendly and helpful. I plan to go back frequently. read more

This place gets five stars because it has by far the best selection of organic, vegan, and raw food around. All of their produce is organic. This is great because it's all high quality. However, if I want a type of produce that is not available in organic form anywhere in the area I do have to go to another grocery. Their selection of dry fruit is pretty good. One day I could not find dried blueberries but then I realized that some of the dry fruit is stored in the refrigerated section in the back. They have a huge selection of organic spices and even have spices you can buy in bulk. They also sell some loose leaf tea by weight. They have many other items sold in bulk that you would see at some other groceries. I like their frozen food section as well. They offer some of my favorite items I have not found anywhere else. This is where you would find a variety of gluten free goods such as bread and donuts. I do not take supplements but for those who do this place has a wide variety of them plus vegan protein supplements. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. The store has a small cafe area with tables and chairs. They serve a few special dishes and a soup each day. They always offer a host of different smoothies. read more

I would pretty much do anything to move his grocery store down to Baltimore where I live. I love this store, I can't say good enough things. They have the best specialty products that I've seen in stores and have an amazing section of loose teas and dried food products (beans, peas, rice). In addition to all of the products that they carry, they have a little food shop with raw foods that they make in house. I've had the cheesecake and its outstanding. Here in Baltimore I have to go to 3 specialty food stores to get what I need when really if I went to the green grocer I could get everything there. They carry daiya cheese to tolerant pasta to healthcare products. I also think that their prices are very good. Every time I come home I come here at least once. read more

Green Planet is not only a natural foods store but also a small cafe serving bites to eat at reasonable prices. A friend and I met there to chat and enjoy a cup of vegetable minestrone and winter squash salad. The soup was packed with large chunks of tomatoes, squash and other savory bites. The squash salad had potatoes, peppers, apples, in a lightly added veggie-mayo. Both offerings were delicious. We resisted the carrot cake which looked dense and scrumptious. As we left a pie was being fashioned with a pressed crust. If you like natural foods and love to experiment , this is a great place to go. read more

This review is not about the quality of the store but the owners practice. Until recently, I worked right next to the Oswego green planet and went there an excessive amount. I regularly spent almost twice what products cost online or at other locations because I want to support local businesses. Then, I heard that the owners of green planet fired an employee for venting on their personal social media about patrons not tipping at their cafe on Christmas Eve. One can assume that some delicate patron recognized themselves in the post and rather than evaluating their own behavior they whined to the owner about it, who instead of standing up for the employee fired them. That is pathetic, weak and enough to lose my business. I've held plenty of positions in my time that rely on tips to make a reasonable income and am personally offended by this behavior. Again, this business charges close to double the price on a huge amount of items and I can attest that the rent at their Oswego location was tiny so cries of overhead cost will fall on deaf ears. My big mouth is also happy to share this with everyone I can because a small business who overcharges and doesn't stand up for what's right isn't one that deserves my or anyone's money. There are other locally owned health food stores in the area and myriad options springing up every day. Have a backbone or step aside. read more

A comfortable, friendly and price-worthy grocery store with fresh local and organic produce and dry bulk items. There isn't one product there with high fructose corn syrup in it. (it's true, I checked) Their raw cafe is the best! Their fresh desserts and entrees are scrumptious! Everyday, they make an excellent hearty allergen-free soup and it is perfect to go sit and have lunch, dinner or a snack. Their Smoothies are well-priced and the staff will make them to order quickly with care. They have Recess and other local coffees and the place smells so fragrant when someone grinds their own beans there. They have educated staff in their supplement and beauty departments that are helpful in comparing products and choosing products. The staff is pleasing and knowledgeable and even though they have almost anything (chemical and preservative free), they would easily order anything for you. They are a true health food grocery store and it is so easy to try new things and make healthy choices at Green Planet. This business is a very positive influence in our community. Very pleased. Nice sized Natural Grocer. I love the dried herbal selection. I'm newish to Syracuse so I saw this store awhile back but didn't remember where it was or get a chance to go until this past week. I spent quite some time in the dried herbs section selecting and weighing my herbs and no one gave me the blues about it. Thank you. ( that may seem like the bare minimum but as Black person standing in 1 place "too long" in a store will have associates starting to monitor & surveil you thank goodness my experience wasn't ruined by that nonsense). They have a variety of things I've been looking for but wasn't sure I'd be able to find up here coming from a larger port city (Baltimore). I will be returning and the pricing isn't astronomically different form big box stores like it can sometimes be in these kinds of stores. I'm glad to pay 30-50 cents or so more for some things knowing I'm supporting a local business. read more

Such a nice bunch of folks. They carry a great selection of produce and local meat (frozen), eggs, and Ithaca Dairy milk. They also have fresh goat milk and a nice variety of local artisan cheese, guacamole and what not. Worth your time to check it out. Green Planet Grocery is great! The prices are very reasonable, and are comparable to other 'natural/organic food' sections of area supermarkets. The organic produce looks fresh and tastes great. The store is very clean and is locally owned and operated, with an in-store Naturopathic Doctor on staff for consultations. Staff seem to really care about the health and wellbeing of people in our community. I love the black bean pasta (with NO carbs!) and the inexpensive price on their cold pressed virgin olive oil. read more

This is my favorite health food store...I used to go to Natur-Tyme but found their staff unfriendly and a miserable atmosphere in general there. I love going to Green Planet because everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable about the products. It definitely has a great neighborhood feel too it. I love the staff here and its really relaxed. The atmosphere here is less stuffy than that of Natur-Tyme. The owners are super nice. I bought a smoothie there with chocolate, banana carrots and kale, which sounds gross but it was to die for and you couldn't tell it was super nutritious. read more

I love green planet. They have a little bit of everything. I can do all of my shopping for the week here. Their bulk section is fabulous. I've always been a whole foods fan and really missed being close to one. I was so excited when I found green planet. It's like a mini whole foods.
