Pete's saved my daughter's graduation party!…read more I don't live in Chicago anymore. But most of my huge family still lives on the South Side. My daughter just graduated college, and we had the party planned for last Saturday. Long story short......my phone died while at the Cubs game on Friday. Woke up downtown on Saturday to a message that the place I had planned to cater from couldn't do it (nice....but that's for another review). I called Pete's. Becky in Customer Service couldn't have been more accommodating. This place is incredible - I really wish we had a Pete's in So Cal! Picked up all the food (even had fresh baked rolls right out of the oven). I had a lot of family asking where I catered from. I told them the story (and found out the place I was originally going to cater from has gone DOWNHILL in quality - so everything happens for a reason). All I can say is the food was INCREDIBLE. Mostaccioli with marinara sauce, sausage and peppers, Italian sliced beef, broasted chicken - amazing! I'm fairly certain Pete's has won my family's catering needs. At least I hope so!! Shout out again to Becky from Pete's in Customer Service who went out of her way to make this an incredible party!

He enabled thousands, perhaps millions to eat produce otherwise not affordable in small neighborhood stores or the mega chains. Likes countless others, my husband and I traveled from Chicago to purchase gas and visit Mark's. We never knew what we would purchase, because you didn't always know what would be available. We did know that bananas would be 4#s for $1.00, apples would be .69 cents a pound, and green peppers would be 4/1.00 or 10/1.oo. We always knew we would be warmly greeted by Mark, Jessica, Debbie, and other members of his team. It was a common occurrence to hear, "Mark, what is this? How do I cook this? Can I cook this in soup?" He was always so generous in his immense knowledge of produce. He made it a point of bringing in new produce. He always put extras in your order at checkout. He always made deals when he knew how much you loved something. Many times he sent home extras I passed on to family, friends, and neighbors. Don't think people did not tell him on hundreds of occasions how much he was appreciated, but sometimes it seemed he couldn't enjoy the love because he was so immersed in keeping his store stocked and running smoothly. He was such a blessing to me, my husband, aunt, and others. Mark....now you can rest on your laurels and enjoy the love and appreciation we all had for you. Now you can replay the compliments, fleeting conversations, and testimonies shared while you were tending to your customers and staff. Thank you Mark. You are missed and loved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are a lot of smoked meats and sausages, much of which are smoked on the premises according to the very nice lady behind the counter. She gave us each a sample of the pork neck which was delicious if a bit saltier than I like. Still, we knew it'd be wonderful when used in other dishes, so Dawn and I split a pound of it, and a nice, big loaf of bread, also homemade. We found all manner of canned and jarred food there, some familiar, some wildly strange to us with our Scandinavian background, but all fascinating. I got myself a jar of chestnut spread and a bottle of Bull's Blood, a Hungarian wine I'd long wanted to try. Dawn found some plum jam. We all got free chocolate! This is just a nice little place run by nice, friendly people and filled with good food and drink. If you love little ethnic markets the way we all do, check it out.

Baltimore Food & Liquor Store is one of the few places to go. Pretty basic looking. The beers and liquors are the best part, while the food is mostly processed junk, and overpriced for most things. About the only place for a mile to get any groceries. It's a few blocks from the Metra station, but this one isn't a frequent stop, which makes sense because there's not much going on around here. This is where the liquor came from at the host we hung with. Basic looking store and not a lot of good food to be honest. There's lots of chips and crap such as that. On top of that it's overpriced. This place is no Save A Lot that's for sure. Best thing here is the booze. It's not that cheap but it's not as expensive as the food. They however actually have a limited selection of fresh vegetables.

They have a varied selection of ethnic foods and drunk. Better yet, the snacks and cookies from different cultures are pretty tasty. Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Service, Product Quality, and Manager Conduct…read more I am submitting this complaint to document a deeply disappointing and frustrating experience at your store that warrants immediate review by leadership. I have been a loyal Whole Foods customer for years, regularly purchasing flowers and groceries, which makes this situation especially upsetting. I recently purchased flowers for my mother, only to have them wither the very next day. My mother was upset, and I contacted the store to resolve the issue. When I spoke with a manager named Mia (possibly spelled Mya), I was told to "bring pictures of the flowers." I found this request insulting and unnecessary -- particularly because she was the one who rang up my purchase and because I have built a consistent, professional rapport with her as a regular customer. Being asked to "prove" the issue felt dismissive and accusatory, as if my integrity were in question. When I returned to the store for a replacement, I was told that I had not been charged for the flowers in the first place -- an error made by the store. Manager Josh then stated that "associates make mistakes all the time." While I understand that mistakes happen, what concerned me was the lack of accountability and the complete absence of any meaningful customer consideration. Despite the inconvenience, the poor product quality, and the disrespectful interaction I experienced, I was not offered a discount, an even exchange, or any gesture of goodwill. To make matters worse, during this visit I purchased additional flowers and an orchid at full price. Even then, no one made any effort to acknowledge the situation beyond repeated apologies. Apologies without action do not resolve the issue, nor do they demonstrate that my loyalty or business is valued. A customer who has been inconvenienced, insulted, and sold a defective product deserves more than empty apologies. Respect is shown through action -- whether that is a discount, a replacement without interrogation, or a simple gesture that acknowledges the customer's experience. As the saying goes, "People don't care unless they know you care." At this point, I did not feel cared for, valued, or respected. In the movie Jerry Maguire, the famous line "Show me the money" became iconic because it represented proof, not promises. I am asking Whole Foods to show me -- through action, not words -- that my business matters. If this is not something your store can demonstrate, then I will take my loyalty elsewhere and make my concerns known. I am requesting a formal review of this incident, including the conduct of the managers involved, and an appropriate resolution that reflects the seriousness of this experience.
