Do you want to go grocery shopping and miss the crazy crowds? This is one of those stores. I'd just discussed this store with my aunt, as I had passed it, but never been inside. So today she requests a pastry while I'm out running errands. The place I went had none, so I stopped here. I went in without a cart or hand basket. After all, I was there for a sweet pastry. I wandered around picking things for a military care package (Don't forget those who serve!) and a pastry. A few minutes later, I'm at the checkout with my arms full of items. I noticed that there was a Deli in the back. It cared prepare, hot and cold, food choices. Looked yummy. Cold and off-putting demeanour of the rude manager is enough to stop me from visiting this place. I visited this market twice before for convenience and the ease of shopping and checkout as it is a smaller store. There was nothing exceptional about the service though nothing offensive to threaten my future business. Today's visit included a comment by the manager carried out in poor taste, accompanied by the cashier's snickering. Out of place, necessary and offensive. My expectation of exceptional customer service dwindles slowly day by day but I refuse to be insulted or treated rudely in establishments where I spend money. I was a huge fan when the original owner reigned supreme. That wonderful man took genuine interest in every customer and made sure to solicit feedback and take corrective measures. Boy I miss him. His nephew now runs the place and his arrogance shows. Fresh Market implies great produce. Now the produce must be seconds bought by them for a discount. Does this guy think we are all stupid? Skip the produce section. The takeout is great and I believe the same culinary genius as before is to be credited. The deli is ok, but it was far superior when Boar's Head was the featured product. Please Don't Shop Here. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. The owners have become overwhelmingly disrespectful, condescending, nasty, and racist to Black shoppers. Here is a post from Nextdoor.com from a shopper who had a horrific experience. Today a friend and I shopped at Bizios. We both had several bags each. After waiting for the manager to take care of something for us we were on our way. After getting home and unpacking my bags I realized I was missing three items totally around $16. I called the store and asked for the manager. After waiting on hold for ten minutes I hung up and called back again and asked for the manager (I believe he is the owner) to which he picked up. I proceeded to explain to him that I was just in his store and had purchased some items with a friend and he possibly remembered me. I then gave him the names of the three items that I was missing after I had unpacked all of my groceries to which he replied so what did you do with them. I then stated I don't have them. He then replied why don't you have them (all the time with a very condescending and accusatory tone). I then stated I don't know what happened to them but I don't have them so I don't know if I left them there or someone else took them that's why I'm callling to inquire about it. He said I don't know where they are, what did you do with them. At this point I was frustrated and just done with the accusatory tone and so I politely told him that I have no need to try and get roughly $16 worth of items from him that I'm not did not rightfully pay for and that do you really think I will go through all of this to get a couple items, I'm not the type of person it is not that serious and then asked if he could just check with the young man on the first register if he has the bag to which he said ok and then hung up the phone. I was steaming at this point. I called back and the young man that checked me out answered the phone and I asked him if my bag was at his register to which he then said yes I have it you can come and pick it up. Okay fast forward I immediately leave out and return to the store, receipt in hand and waited off to the side while the manager took care of some of the customers who needed alcohol rang up. He glanced at me all pissy eyed. After he finished his last customer he reach to grab my bag as I was stating that I was there to pick it up and thrust his hand forward at me forcibly. At this point I had just had enough and so I began to speak but in a mild-mannered tone as I am normally a mild mannered person. I simply said can I ask you a question why did you speak to me in the tone that you did very accusatory and rude when I approached you very nicely and calmly about some items that I had purchased. And let me just tell you it was like World War III had broken loose he began yelling at me flailing his hands telling me don't talk to him that I did not say that and that you don't come in my store talking to me like that and to get out of his store. I then told him that I approached him very nicely and with respect and that he should and he cut me off and told me I don't want to talk to you get out of my store who do you think you are. I said are you serious right now and he told me to shut up and started flailing his hands and yelling at which point I started raising my voice and we were going toe to toe then I I told him that I knew people and that I would report him and that everybody will know how he treats his customers that the lack of customer service was utterly shameful and he said to the top of his voice are you threatening me as he's walking up on me, I put my hand out and told him stop no we are not going to do this you are not going to over talk me while walking up on me. I told him that I have been frequenting his store for many years and that this was appalling. He said whatever shut up and get out of my store as he picked up a hand cart and walked away. All the other customers in the store was looking in shock and well just shock. I felt so bad for the young man he was so fearful he backed towards the corner with fear on his face. It was unbelievable. I have never in my life experienced such disgusting behavior. His attitude towards me was that I was subservient to him and how dare I speak to him and question him. I recall someone on nextdoor stating that they had witnessed him treating another customer in a similar manner. This type of behavior and treatment of customers is unacceptable and I will not patronize any establishment that treats their customers like this. My husband told me that I should have taken him with me because he knows he would not have spoken to me that way. I'm sorry that this is so long but I felt this had to be shared. read more

Never met the "friendly" owner. Purchased a $15 frozen bass only to find it unscaled, ungutted, and completely inedible. Called to inform the store and was barked at and accused of scamming. Wouldn't give a refund, only a store credit after forcing me to BRING HIM THE GUTTED, SCALY, ROTTEN FISH. Yeah, the guy's a real prince. Also noticed chicken for about .25/lb. Huh?????????? Let me first start with how they operate the protein shake. They put so much ice and almond milk to the point where it's almost double the shake with one scoop of protein I get half the shake that means I get half the amount of protein they don't know how to make shakes I need to make them smaller if they're going to use the same little cups they use all the time it's making me so mad because I come get one almost every other day and they do the same thing over and over I continue to tell the lady to make it small and she pours 2 pounds of ice into it that makes no sense at all that means I'm missing half of my shake that I just bought that literally kills it I'm giving this a one star review I will never get a shake from you ever again nor will I ever shop here again fix it now read more

When I returned to the burbs from the Boston area, I went into a deep depression: ethnic food selection could be found only in areas where one might need a bodyguard for protection. At the least it appeared I would have to travel downtown (Fulton Market) or at least to Trader Joe's to find items of interest to a globally influenced cook. Then came Bizio's: the fish is fresh, not exclusively farmed, i.e. there is flavor to the fish, spices and ingredients not common to the suburban palate have been found here. The produce department offers a terrific selection of in-season products for very reasonable prices. Off-season prices can be more expensive, but at least the items are available. Service at Bizio's is truly old-world and often out-of-this-world. When the manager sees more than two customers in line, he opens another lane. I have even seen him work the register and bag groceries. Whenever I have a puzzled look on my face it registers with employee passersby, who always take the time to figure out the answer to a question I might not have formulated. These folks are pros. Being a smaller venue, I doubt they will carry kumquats for my cranberry recipe at Christmastime, but they please more than the masses. They appeal to discerning foodies on a budget. The meat prices are reasonable for the quality, but in this economy I cannot be reasonable. If you can RUN to this lovely place. Two suggestions: please carry Mariana brand dried fruit which has a far superior quality to Sunmaid or Dole, a far better selection, and far better prices. Secondly, Dei Fratelli makes a vegetable juice that retailed for only $1.69 at Walt's until they inexplicably stopped selling it. DeiFratelli trumps V-8 and any other brand of vegetable juice for fresh taste and value. Philips frozen seafood is known as the gold standard for frozen seafood and that would be a welcome addition to your line. Thanks for being nealy-perfect. PS Wine tasting helps decision-making. Nice upscale mart with a great wine selection. Came here specifically because our out of town guests had difficulty finding aloe juice in their area. Bizio stocks the aloe juice in all different flavors including cranberry, peach, mango, pomegranate and original. I was impressed with how mow many organic items and ethnic foods they sold. This is a great alternative with Trader Joe's or Whole Foods quite a distance away. read more

My family and I have been shopping at this store for years. They are overpriced but they have a few items that are worth the drastic up charge. After tonight we will never patronize this establishment ever again. My son was racially profiled tonight by a white male employee while shopping with my husband. My son is an honor student at a local high school and a star athlete. Never in any trouble. My husband was waiting in the deli for an order while my son looked around. This white male employee approached my son and asked him if he needed any help to which my son responded no that he was okay. This male employee then proceeded to tell my son if he wasn't buying anything not to come back into the store...... SO BECAUSE HE IS A YOUNG BLACK MALE HE ISNT ALLOWED TO LOOK AROUND YOUR STORE???? Every time i come to this store i look around the entire store for long periods of time. Is this not allowed anymore at this establishment???? Did we miss the memo???? As much money as the black community in this area spends at this establishment??? Literally every time I'm here the majority of the customers shopping there are black. How dare you?! I never had the desire to become a Yelp reviewer. But since I moved to the south suburbs a few months ago, I've found so many great businesses down here that are going unnoticed by Yelp. Bizios Fresh Market is one of these. My partner and I love this grocery store. They have a great selection of produce, organics and products you just won't find at the big-box corporate grocery chains that dominate the suburban landscape. In comparison, Bizios looks like a smaller store, but I am constantly surprised by the depth and quality of their inventory. I love the deli, the fresh meat and fish, and the prices! Our total grocery bill is far smaller here than at the big-box stores, even with the big-box "loyalty" cards. The staff is helpful and friendly. You will often find the owner or other family members ringing you up at the register. This is a mom-and-pop business at its very best. read more

This is the 2nd time I've been disappointed by Bizio's . First the Kefir I bought was long expired- I was in a hurry to check out- sorry I didn't notice sooner. I called and the girl was friendly and told me she's check the rest of them ( didn't offer to replace mine tho). Then yesterday I bought some Napa cabbage and all 3 heads were rotten inside. Great food, can always find organics here that you can't find other places in the south suburbs. Their deli has great food, too. Cheap imported wines and lots of imported food from all over the world. It's like a World Market but much cheaper. The owner is always in the store, too, which is nice, it shows he cares. read more

My family goes here all the time. They have good, fresh food at reasonable prices, a good butcher section, and a wide variety of wine. Quaint is the description that comes to mind when I think of Bizios Fresh Market. It's not as large as a mega grocery store, but it's much larger than your regular mom and pop's store. But it definitely has that mom and pop store "feel". They have a fantastic variety of fruits and vegetables, including organic, which have been fresh for me each purchase. The meat department has a delectable assortment. The English roast gets two thumbs up from me. They have a great wine selection, and the prices are moderate. Many hard-to-find items can be found here. If you like sweets, they offer a good variety of them here. They also sell fresh Angelica Bakery cakes here... yummmm! The staff is friendly, and the owner is a sweetheart. He always offers a quick smile and a helpful hand. He is often hanging around to answer questions, and to make sure that everything is running smoothly. You will even find him on the register some days. This store is definitely a gem. read more

Cashier also with attitude says you have to go back to register where first cashier told me she was closed. Great place initially, but they seem to be lowering their standards a bit lately. For example, there need to be more organics. The selection of vegetarian/non-additive foods is small. And their import section seems to be dwindling. I want Bizio's to do well and I hope they do, because the family is putting a lot of effort into it but they need to get a little more modern and health conscious with their selections. I like this place. It's kind of a south suburban trader joes, but smaller. They have great homemade greek yogert (it's greek run) some awesome olive oils and great deals on wine. it's refreshing to have a deli where you can get fresh smoked gouda (which i highly recommend)...and they have some nice "bare chicken" and other healthy meat selects (though pricey)...produce is good...and the selection changes daily so you know it's fresh......and they carry many brands i don't see anywhere else. very helpful staff (you NEVER wait at the deli or check out)...all in all, the best little grocery gem in the south burbs. read more

Was happy to find this place as an out of towner it's hard to eat well while I travel.

This was a store that I really enjoyed shopping at weekly since the day it opened. Never again!!! After ordering chicken for a small dinner party, I picked up the order took it home, and stuffed it unopened in the oven because I was having a surprise party for my son who was home. Also note that I order from this store several times a year for other gatherings. To my surprise when my guest arrived I opened the order and it was not what I ordered. I immediately called the store and spoke with the manager on call that night; he was nice and apologetic and told me if it wasn't so late he would remake, however instructed me to come back the next day and he would refund me for the mistake. I didn't make it the next day however, I went the following day. After talking to a friend who was checking out, i spotted the manager and said POLITELY, "excuse me are you the manager," I was met with a defensive "yes." I proceeding to tell the manager Jim what happened and he abruptly told me that he WAS NOT going to refund my money and that I "got what I ordered." Appalled and in disbelief by his rude tone the situation escalated. His mind was made up long before I arrived that the store would not in anyway accommodate me for THIER mistake. I left the store pretty heated after being told to get out and that he owned the store which was not the truth. When I asked about John the previous owner, Jim was further enraged, and shoved a box to the floor. I absolutely could not believe that I was met with so much disgust by this man who totally offended me by making me feel as though I was lying or looking for a reason to get my money back. The ironic thing is that I didn't need my my money back and even if the store was prepared to provide a credit I would have re-shopped!! The next day my husband went with me to speak to the owner Tony, who surprisingly was equally rude and said things to my husband that truly displayed a culture biases against the majority of his shoppers, African Americans. I couldn't believe the things this man said, Including him asking my husband if he should go home and "beat the shit out of Jim" his son, implying that this is what African Americans do...sarcastically. Years of me shopping there, him helping me with wine selections, I was floored! There's a pattern with this owner who displays an outward appearance that he has respect for certain shoppers, but once you have an issue the true person, with comments surfaces. Tony reluctantly, ask what I wanted and My husband said an apology from his son and from the store - he replied that would not happen and that his son didn't come to work that day because he didn't want to "deal with that lady." Mind you the lady who has quietly shopped there for years spending thousands of dollars and the lady who was disrespected beyond anything in her life!!! I will NEVER shop in this store and I'm encouraging my friends to shop elsewhere also. It's easy to run to a corner store out of convenience, however it's equally important to know who you're giving your hard earn money to and how they truly feel about their customers. What a great market! Food is fresh and such a great variety. The deli has a weekly revolving menu which I haven't tried yet. The homemade garlic dressing is amazing.
