Not only do they have a plethora of varieties to pick from, but they also have Pears, Peaches, Plums and Blueberries too. I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I was never going to have a decent Peach ever again, especially with the way the corporate food conglomerates harvest them in Florida and California. By the time they find their way to New England, they're usually flavorless or mealy. This year, we picked some Peaches here at Palazzi's and they are the best Peaches I've ever eaten. We came across a staff member in the orchard and he told us what to look for when picking the best fruit. I really want to thank him for his advice, because I'm in fruit heaven for a while, until I run out and have to return to this wonderful place. We came one week too late to pick Plums, so next year, I'm scheduling a day in mid-August to grab some of those. If they're half as good as the Peaches, I'll be a happy camper. I also noticed a few trees with Asian Pears, my favorite kind of Pears, so I'll be going back in a couple of weeks when they've ripened.

They had a stand with a money box and you took your apples and put your money in the box. Unfortunately, I only stopped once because the apples were very soft and we ended up throwing them away. The new owners have done a lovely job with the orchard and have classes there as well as summer concerts. They have a cute gift shop with seasonal fruit, meat and handmade gifts from local artisans. After chatting with mom, (her daughters are moving things around the store and cashier - I am sure they do everything around the store as well) I learned that the tag line for the store is everything from Bibles to Bullets - and yes they sell bibles and bullets!. So I bought a fresh baked gooey cinnamon roll and gave the young lady a 2 dollar bill. One of my other well known quirks is to carry two dollar bills and use them for purchases and tips. She looked at the two dollar bill, held it up and yelled across the store, mom do we take these and she held it up. Her mom laughed and the young teenagers had her first encounter with a two dollar bill. What fun. Creating memories for her and me as the travels continue. They have a bunch of other things not just relating to olive oil, but candy, soaps, honey, vinegars, pasta, and spreads. They also have impressive gift boxes, that are very professionally packaged, and would make a great gift. I left with about $60 worth of honey and oils. It is very expensive, and the taste remains to be seen, but I have a feeling it will live up to its perceived expectation. It's also a good way to support a local family run business. Check it out!
