Household products, drinks, canned items, frozen items, tons of spices, cheese, meat, sauces, and what I'm always looking for~ fresh fruit and veggies that look really great!! I picked up some cucumbers, zucchini, and ripe plantains this trip, but they also had lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, cilantro, onions, limes, bananas, mangoes, potatoes, and more! The cashier here was very nice and helpful too. Will definitely be back soon for more plantains and to try the mangoes when they're in stock :)

I'm giving 5 stars because I really hope they make it a permanent menu item. There is nowhere else in town to get a good vegan chickn sandwich. However it is a little dry/bland. They only put vegan mayo on one side of the bun, idk about you guys but no bun should be without sauce/mayo. Next time I ordered it tossed in buffalo and got the vegan thousand island for my fries and it was 10/10. The staff is always very kind!

They also have lots of freezer items, snacks and instant ramen options. The layout is very open so it feels bright and easy to navigate. I think more signs would be helpful but the place isn't huge so walking around is okay. Staff have been friendly and checking out at the cashier has always been smooth. They have good parking up front. Driving here might be the biggest obstacle because the intersection it's on is pretty busy!

The former was easy enough to find (thank you, Goya), but even my Peruvian American friend from Chicago warned me that it's hard to find the Hot Yellow Peppers, critical to the Aji de Gallina dish from her native country that I wanted to make. And sure enough, I couldn't find it after walking all through the store! La Tapatia staff to the rescue: Through a mix of English, Spanish, and pointing-to-pictures-on-my-phone -- the staff made it a mission to help me find the Aji Amarillo. Turns out, La Tapatia had it in paste, in brine, and frozen! Can't wait to come back!

The produce is all packed and wrapped in plastic wrap. Harder for people to steal or is it for safety from filthy hands? The produce selection is super tiny and the bananas are on a sort of coatrack. The canned, jarred, and boxed selection is pretty fantastic as there are ethnic foods you don't see elsewhere or pay 2-3 times as much at places like Hy-Vee. It's a super economic store, especially for a privately owned store. Definitely a relic, and I hope it stays standing. Makes me homesick for my hometown, a real city.
