They were selling green bell peppers for forty-nine cents a pound, which is a great deal. However, these peppers looked a bit old and were at the end of their life expectancy. They also had a meat market, but I did not get over to check it out as I was working that day and had a full day ahead of me and there was no way the meat products would survive in my car that long. They do also have a few aisles of grocery items and I was very happy to find that they carried the Puerto Rican hot sauce called Mi Madre Pique, which I discovered on a business trip to Puerto Rico and have since been a huge fan. I picked up a few bottles, one for myself and one for my son. Each bottle was a bit over five dollars, which is I guess a competitive price and a cheaper option than flying to Puerto Rico to pick up a few more bottles. It is very conveniently located, being basically on the corner of John Young Parkway and Vine Street. It is not a bad place to check out and has great prices, but as I have mentioned before, you do get what you are paying for. I guess three stars is a fair rating. Good prices, but the produce should be more fresh. By all means, go check it out. Just don't get carried away and buy something just because it was cheap just to throw it out in a day or two because it rotted.

Rising along U.S. Highway 192, the enormous fiberglass orange is one of those quirky roadside landmarks that makes you want to stop and take a picture. The story of Orange World dates back to 1971, when Eli Sfassie moved from Indiana to Florida and opened a Texaco gas station near the newly opened Walt Disney World. To take advantage of the growing number of tourists traveling through the area, he began selling souvenirs from the station's service bay. In 1988, Sfassie transformed the building into a giant orange at a cost of about $6,000. The resulting structure stands approximately 60 feet tall and has been promoted as the World's Largest Orange. In 2004, strong winds from hurricane Charley reportedly tore a giant decorative crystal ball from the nearby Giant Wizard gift shop. The enormous ball crashed onto the roof of Orange World, leaving a dent in the structure. According to local lore, the crystal ball was never found. In 2017 the giant orange has even appeared in Sean Baker's critically acclaimed film The Florida Project, adding to the colorful roadside scenery surrounding the movie's setting. Orange World suffered another setback in March 2023 when a fire broke out in the storage area above the gift shop, causing significant smoke damage to the interior. For a time, merchandise was sold outside while repairs were underway. The remodeled interior reopened in October 2024, bringing the attraction back to full operation. Today, Orange World sells fresh citrus, juice, orange trees, snacks, cookies, candy, honey, alligator jerky, sauces, jams and jellies, and a huge selection of Florida-themed souvenirs. Inside, you'll find plenty of inexpensive souvenir clothing, T-shirts, Disney and Universal merchandise, gifts, and other tourist memorabilia. I was surprised by how expensive the orange juice was. It was $3.50 for a small cup. Gallons were $14.99. While I absolutely love the giant orange itself, have to admit that I found the inside somewhat underwhelming. For me, the exterior is the star of the show. There is just something wonderfully nostalgic about this giant orange. If you enjoy quirky roadside attractions, classic Florida kitsch, and places that are fun to photograph, Eli's Orange World is definitely worth a quick stop. They have fresh cut meat, fresh seafood and produce. The workers are always around to help you if you have any questions or if you need to have the meat cut a certain way. The service is always great. Their prices are very competitive to those in the area and sometimes even better. This is my go to spot for live blue crabs, fresh shrimp, lobster tails and fresh meat, like goat and beef. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. There was a nice variety of vendors selling crafts, fresh foods, baked goods, and more, along with live music that gave the market a lively, welcoming atmosphere. We considered buying a loaf of bread but decided to pass this time. My son ordered a coconut drink served inside a pineapple, which was a fun experience. The ironic part is that he's mildly allergic to pineapple, so he only drank the coconut water while my husband happily ate the pineapple itself! It gave us a laugh, and I reminded my son that next time it's perfectly okay to ask if the drink can be served another way or to mention his allergy before ordering. Overall, this is a charming little market that fits the character of the town. It's a great place to wander, browse, listen to music, and enjoy the local atmosphere. I don't know how many times I would need to go here but it was a fun stop for us. It was very sunny out so make sure you wear a hat or take a walk by the water where there are trees and benches.
