This place is absolutely atrocious, the workers in there are incompetent, rude, and the worst customer service I've ever experienced. The food is cheap, but it's cheap for a reason I went to look at their fruit which most of it had mold on it. In the overall cleanliness of the store is absolutely disgusting. Between the waft of mold and must you get right when you walk in to dirty sticky floors to even their shelved items having dust and dirt on them. I know right now people are looking for better pricing, but I do not recommend going here for that. read more

We did not have a quarter to get a cart, so we went cart less and thought we would need to carry each food item. The shelves were in disarray, the vegetables looked disgusting, and the men's restroom was closed our entire time there. In general, the store was filthy. The Salem N.H store, I was hit with a grey cart and when I shouted out I was told to leave. I was able to contact the district manager who didn't apologize to me. I went there last Friday and bought 3 loafs of wheat bread which found out they had green mold. Also the wheat bread we bought in Somerville had green mold. We took that one back and got another. We freeze the bread until we need it so we can not understand why it gets mold. read more

1/8/25 around 2:30pm. This is strictly about customer service. They only had one register open and when they finally decided to open up another register, the person who is open at the register was taking people from the line that had been waiting, but in the midst of that decided to yell at my father, an elderly man who is standing there confused because it was his first time in the store so he wasn't sure what was going on and was yelling at him screaming at him humiliating him in front of everyone in the store, which is completely unacceptable. Telling him it wasn't his turn to wait in line. Everyone else was waiting. He's not above anyone else to go to the back of the line little did she know he wasn't in line he was following me shopping. We decided to leave the carriage and walk out because of that disgusting behavior. read more

I go to Aldi's for certain items that are much lower priced than other supermarkets. In particular, I love their Simply Nature line of organic products which is wonderful. Bagging my own groceries is no big deal at all (I always carry collapsible shopping bags with me). Really appreciate saving money on various items I buy regularly and the convenience of being able to walk to this nearby store. read more

Boy do I love this Aldi since the remodel! I loved going to the old store but now the new one is beautiful and has everything so organized! You can't beat the prices here. We rent a car to come to Medford and it still ends up cheaper than other grocery stores. It also has a tons of other stores in the plaza so you can get all of your shopping done at one place. Feeling lazy? Even the Instacart orders are cheaper for delivery. Aldi gets ride of grocery store luxuries so you have to bag your own groceries, pay for a cart, and bring your own bags, but that's what helps keep prices low. The items are for their brand and some aren't good but most are amazing. We go around certain theme weeks (like german week!) to load up for the year. If you live in the area you should definitely be shopping here regularly. Your wallet and tastebuds will thank you. read more

Staff: This location is clearly understaffed - so the lines at checkout tend to get quite long. This was very noticeable - also I didn't see many staff members around the store in general like when I couldn't find stuff. Shopping Experience: This was my first time at Aldi and I LOVED almost everything I got - fresh fruits, veggies, frozen foods, breads, cheese, a lot of good stuff. Not the greatest experience here today. Messy, untidy and poorly stocked in the central aisles. Staff couldn't care less to help you. When I asked someone where an item was, the staff member carried on walking and gave me a one word answer, obviously irritated to have been asked a question. They're rude, basically. At some point, the owners split the company in two (Aldi Nord and Aldi Sud), divvying up who got which European country. But they didn't split up the USA, they decided to both operate here under two different names. The concept of each is to sell high quality house brand products for less than the supermarkets. At some point, the socioeconomic target also split: Trader Joe's shifted to appeal to a slightly higher bracket, while Aldi's sought out working-class profile customers. The suppliers for both chains are supposedly mostly the same, but the products each carry diverge. I like both, but I regularly shop at Aldi's in Medford. Their prices on breakfast cereal, produce, bread, cheeses, and fish are MUCH lower than even Market Basket. read more

Okay so we all know that if we go into Aldis the people working there are going to be rude/not friendly. Whatever. Not a big deal - usually. I just left and was blown away this time by the employees. This tiny frail old man just finished paying and was looking at his receipt. An employee came up behind him and kept yelling "EXCUSE ME"at him (she had a cart of products that needed to be put back on shelves). The issue is that she could have went around him. There was legit 12 feet of space to the left of him where she could have very easily went around this poor guy. Instead she stood there behind him yelling "EXCUSE ME" as this guy was looking at his receipt and was clearly hard of hearing so that the woman that rang him up (he was legit 1 foot from the register on his right) started yelling "SIR SHE IS TRYING TO GET BY". Come on. You had 12 feet of space to the left of this poor old guy. Just go around him. Sorry if that seemed like it was an inconvenience to move your cart one foot around some who is a guest in your store. read more

This location is clearly understaffed during the busy holiday season. However, no qualms here because they go out of their way to help me find items on the shelves or check the back. The miserable customers who criticize the simplistic layout and low inventory need to manage their expectations while shopping during a pandemic. I've been a shopper for over a decade before social media glamorized Aldi. I have no brand loyalty and the affordable organic and pasture raised options keep me coming in twice a week. read more

A few weeks ago while standing in their strange excuse for a line during these Covid times, I saw a woman standing off to the side clearly confused regarding where the line started (I mean, who wouldn't be confused?) I'm not really sure how to rate this Aldi. I used to love this store because everything was so inexpensive. I went yesterday and didn't enjoy the experience. The carts are really old and I had a hard time releasing mine after putting my quarter in. I tried to buy bananas, but everything in the box was rotten. I mean, every banana was completely black and mushy. There was an employee right there. Remove the rotten bananas! This had me feeling weird about other fresh things. The milk cases were dented and crooked, and I had to move them to get a jug out. Their milk prices are amazing. However, someone else could get hurt trying to lift the stacked cases. My favorite wool socks were on sale and they had some kids winter clothing at good prices. However, I didn't really find things as inexpensive compared to other store. Somehow I spent $6 on a small bag of apples. So Aldi is good for some things, but remove the rotten things and check to make sure other things in stock aren't going to fall on people. read more

My favorite market because you can get a lot of everyday foods for REALLY GOOD PRICES! First of all, bring a quarter so you can use a carriage (you get it back after you return it). If you steer away from the processes, high sugar foods, you can find organic fruits & veggies, good quality generic products, organic milk, cage free eggs, and really good Greek & Aussie style (think noosa) yoghurt. I bought Atlantic salmon (on a bourbon soaked cedar plank that you cook it on) & cooked if for 30 mins in the oven. It was like having a gourmet meal! The even have grass fed beef!! As much as I LOVE this place, there are a few drawbacks. You have to use cash or a debit card, the lines are LONG (be prepared to wait, and you have to bag you own groceries (bring bags or they have boxes). It's hilarious how rude every cashier I've ever dealt with has been. They seem to be paid well, sit down at the register, and don't bag your groceries for you: yet every single person I've interacted with has seemingly loathed their job. It's laid out in a bargain-basement fashion: but the food quality and prices are great. They've got some pretty interesting food stuffs like pho broth and chili lime chicharones, and staples like greatly priced salmon and frozen burgers. I'll bag my own groceries and deal with the rudeness from cashiers for now, I guess: until the weather is nicer and I want to go a bit further to Wegmans or T Joes. Being about 30% less expensive than Stop n Shop works for me for now. read more

Finally ALDI has arrived in Medford. ALDI is a non-frills supermarket of the German kind. Small selection, but everything they have is good and cheap. You have to deposit a quarter to get your shopping cart, which you can retrieve when you return the cart. No credit cards, but debit cards and cash are expected. Bags to carry out your purchase - you pay for them - so bring your own bag! They carry canned staples and a few fresh items such as dairy, seasonal vegetables and fruits. If you have been to Germany, you will know them ... it was my primary supply source as a student. Open only for one week and I am a regular already. read more

I had no idea what to expect upon entry. I had read the circular we received the week they opened, sent my roommate there before his July 4th camping trip- he reported it was "ok." Get to the door, sensors are slow to open for you, didn't have a quarter, hadn't finished my coffee, read the somewhat confusing signage about what sort of payment is accepted, didn't see a MasterCard logo, so went to the ATM. Wrong move, I guess they DO take most debit cards... Ugh. Back again with cash and a quarter I had my doubts. It's clean and cool and almost eerily quiet inside. I managed to stock up on a lot of dry goods and condiments and some of the snacks and treats we usually buy at a cheaper price. Hopefully these knockoff versions taste the same or better, I now know what I can actually save on and to be prepared with my own bags next time. The one thing I was not happy with: I had a coupon they mailed to me, it was $5 off, with no expiration date on it, just a picture of a calendar, which I assumed was a continued advertisement of the grand opening... I was not allowed to use it, even though they didn't print an expiration date on it. So, ALDI, if that shit expires, say so in the same way that EVERYBODY ELSE does, please. read more

Picture Aldi's as a Trader Joe's with even fewer frills, but the same high quality goods. There's a reason--they're owned by the same company in Germany! I've cut my grocery budget 20% by getting the same things at Aldi I used to get at Trader Joe's. That includes grass-fed beef, organic eggs, organic greens, awesome gluten-free goods, roasted almonds, and THE BEST European chocolate ($1.49 for a huge bar). Also fantastic prices on staples like beans, canned tomatoes, enchilada sauce, lunch meat, spices, frozen veggies and so on. There are quirks: You pay a quarter to use a cart, and get the quarter back when you return the cart. All the non-refrigerated food is out in its packing boxes. You bag your own groceries (bring bags!). And you're not going to find a thousand varieties of the same things. However, that's part of what I love about it. I can be in and out in 20 minutes, set for the week. Sure, the lines are sometimes long, and you want to look closely at the produce out on the floor--it's not on ice. But the staff are really helpful and you'll find some awesome deals here. I still go to TJ's for some things I just can't get anywhere else, but Aldi has changed my life and my grocery budget! read more

If you have bad things to say about Aldi, it must be because you don't like saving money and can afford to do all your shopping at Whole Foods. Okay, obviously this place isn't the nicest, but that's not the point. The point is that you can go to Aldi and fill a shopping cart for under $100. A cart that would cost you $250 anywhere else will probably cost you about $70 at Aldi. Their prices are so low because they cut corners in other ways. They usually only have one or two cashiers working at a time, they don't have real shelves, and you bring your own bags. Their stores are environmentally conscious and thats all I can really ask for. My boyfriend and I call it the "bootleg" store because they carry mostly off brands, or their own brands. Again, not a problem. My favorite thing about Aldi is their selection of cheap, ORGANIC items. They carry organic produce, poultry, eggs, nuts, nut butters, snacks, gluten free items, among many others. Its just the best. They also have almond milk, great coffee, and weekly specials that will bring tears to your eyes. I have literally never spent more than $75 there and I always come home with huge bags full of food. I live in Medford and I go everywhere. Trader joe, wegman, stop and shop, I go to them all. I also to to aldi. I am a select shopper so I go to buy specific items and I don't do all my shopping at one place. But I think it is really rude if a worker does not stop the conveyor belt when you are standing in line and trying to put your items on the belt. In fact, I feel that this is in fact very dangerous. I am planning to contact the store manager and I may have to speak out to someone in a higher management position. The workers who have been continuing to do this would be liable for injuries to all of any of the customers. read more

Growing up Illinois and living near Lidl in Finland, Aldi is a well loved part of my family. Now Aldi is all grown up, great produce, organics, kids and vegan products. Their ready to oven pizzas are the bomb and way cheaper than delivery. I love that the store is set up like a cornmaze so everyone is basically going the same way -minimal congestion! Plus they have great German products for cooking, mixers, pressure cookers, etc and a great selection of seasonal non-food items (chairs, swings, holiday items, kids swimsuits, dog bowls) well made a dirt cheap! I feed my multicultural fam of 5 for under $500/month- fish, vegan, dogs, baby, ethnic all included because Aldi has great stuff at normal prices. read more

Oh my gosh, the reviews on here are hilarious. Too bad about ALDI's close proximity to Camberville because the elitism is palpable. They didn't have organic, locally-sourced kale?? The store layout wasn't expertly designed for maximum visual appeal by an aspiring artist + architect/microbrewer/artisanal popsicle and pickle startup shop owner? You can't use your credit card (let alone your smartphone) for purchases? The horror! Look, ALDI is cheap. There are zero frills. Everything is an in-store brand that looks eerily close to a major brand. The bakery products are called L'Oven Fresh. LOVEN FRESH. The cheese is from Happy Farms. I don't go to ALDI because it's cool. I go because I after I pay for my apartment and student loans, I feel zero shame in eating bread branded L'Oven Fresh. I go to ALDI because the avocados are 89 cents. 89 cents! And frankly, some of the products are actually better than typical American grocery store fare because they are imported. The chocolates are from Germany and not only are they insanely cheap, they are much better than Hersheys. So to sum it up: if you want to save money on the basics, go to ALDI. Needed milk for the house and happened to pass this market , was also curious about it as I never seen one before. I went in for milk not getting a basket as I did not think I would purchase anything else. After just a few minutes I turned around and got a cart as I kept finding all sorts of deals on foods there. HOLY COW I filled the cart and went home very happy as the prices were increadable! Prices here easily beat the big stores, even though it is a wide selection it is not as wide as a regular chain. After I left Aldi, my first thought was: "Great. I'm going to write one of those entitled Yelp reviews about credit cards and produce." But really, I was so excited to get in on the Aldi thing. I even went in with my quarter and my reusable bags. I was so ready. I guess the price on the veggie sticks was really awesome, and I got some cheese I'm excited about. Puffed Rice Squares? Oh I get it, they're like Rice Krispie Treats... only the actual Rice Krispie Treats in festive holiday shapes and colors are right next to them. What's the ALDI MO? Not just generics, not just seasonal goods that have worn out their welcome - it's more of a wide cast net that just reels it in and puts a price on it. And not always a cheap one at that. Which would be the key differentiator for spots like this. But when the cost of ground turkey falls somewhere between McKinnon's and the 24-hour Shaw's, and it's sidled by beat boxes of Baker Oats bran and, yes, treadmills, there are definitely less surreal options for your produce/CPG/exercise equipment needs. Two positives: the onsite manager was extremely friendly at checkout, and the in-house Fit & Active product line makes buying for that "New Year, New You" a breeze. The facade of this grocery store is very inviting, then you go in and find everything wrong there. To begin with no shopping cart or basket for your goods. They charge .25 cents to loan you a shopping cart! This was really first for me. Nothing was priced where you could see, it was like a puzzle to figure out what price went with what item. The goods they had for sale was also very odd! Selling pet beds? Then came time to check out, the line was so long and there was only one register open. I asked the person by register if he could ask for back up? He made it sound as if I had just spoken to him in another language. Rolled his eyes at me and did nothing. After waiting 10 long minutes in line, and seeing that the line had a super slow move, I decided to walk away from what I was about to purchase. read more

It seems to me that everyone is acting ignorant about Aldi's money saving policies. This European chain is all about saving money by getting people to put away their own carts, by giving you the incentive of getting your quarter back, and keeping only 2-3 well-paid employees to keep their costs low, so the shoppers can get the lowest price possible. Having moved here from the DMV area, I was on the hunt for a Aldi in this area (broke grad student's gotta eat). This one is the only one in the Greater Boston area, and it's a lifesaver. I really hope they start opening up more branches soon. read more

I have started a cleaner diet work low carb, fresh fruit, and vegetables and Aldi has been my go to for months now. This particular aldi is very clean. I bought cotton candy grapes (yes it's a thing look it up), I also bought a 7 layer bean dip. I travel for work and in the past 7 days I have been to Aldi in Minneapolis, Washington DC, and Boston. I love it so much. None of them ever disappoint and the pricing on everything is great. read more
