I'm a big fan of Aldi due to the great prices, quality foodie finds, and neat limited time items. This is my parents local location, which was essentially torn down almost completely and re done in the past year. The new inside is fairly nice and clean. This is a very busy location at all times of day. During the pandemic, I was surprised to find the location wasn't doing that great at being careful! Infact the cashier was down right rude when I asked her not to switch out my cart at checkout. My local locations had been one of the few places I felt safe! Perhaps it was just a few rogue workers on this day. My mom and I had fun picking up some ingredients for shrimp and grits, and some fun cheeses. I was trying to convince her to come here more often! Make sure to bring a quarter for the cart and reusable bags, as they don't provide any. I personally prefer to unload my cart at the car now, into my travel bags to reduce contamination. I don't get the appeal of the aldi. First off its a cheap grocery store which is fine but if you're following the hannaford sales it doesn't seem particularly cheap to me. Maybe I don't go enough to see the true Aldi sales but the meat has not been particularly cheaper at all. If i want bulk items for cheap I tend to go to walmart. Also in all honestly you can't do the full week of shopping here generally; or at least it has that feeling. So it means you have to make an extra stop just to go to Aldi for some select items. Its like a cheap trader joes, which I also don't like. Anyway the main thing that means I should give it one star but I am holding myself back is the stupid coin deposit for a shopping cart. I get the premise that you use a coin to use a cart and you get the coin back but what kind of red blooded american carrier quarters anymore? This is the stupidest part of this entire store that should not have been imported with it. This aldi is not even within easy walking distance of anything where you would want to take a shopping cart. Most stores either have the auto locks or just take the acceptable slow loss of cart, but instead Aldi has to keep its euro gimmick of making you carry a quarter around. Also there's no way that a quarter is even a substantial cost compared to the cost of a cart. Maybe this make sense with a euro coin in a small tight neighborhood but in America this is a pointless time wasting gimmick that drives me nuts. I love Aldis! The prices are great and they always offer interesting things. The owner's a brother to Trader Joe's owner. So similar to Trader Joes, they carry their own brand of items. They do have a few items that are brand name though. Here, you must have a quarter to get a shopping cart. You have to return the cart in order to get the quarter back. That's a pretty smart system to keep your parking lots empty of abandoned shopping carts. I loved that they had pet Halloween costumes, Halloween themed cheese, pumpkin flavored seasonal items, and large healthy-looking pumpkins for under $3! That was the lowest pumpkin price I have ever seen. I came to get a mousse cake but they only had 1 left of one flavor. The other Aldis I went to had 3 flavors and had a lot more in stock. I got shredded gruyere cheese here and have never seen shredded cheese in this variety before. Usually shredded cheese exists for mozzarella, cheddar, Mexican blend and few others only. You don't get bags here so make sure to bring your own shopping bags. Something unique to this market chain is that the cashiers here sit on chairs. read more

I've shopped Aldi in the Utica area, and in the Omaha NE area (I'm originally from Utica and visit fairly often to see family). Great prices on most all staples, and their generics beat the heck out of many if not most brand names. I love their Aribatta (sp?) sauce! We normally get a full cart of groceries for around $80. I figure I save about 30% over Wal*Mart prices. About the only negative I can think of is that they do not carry a huge selection of meat, and have to go elsewhere every now and then for that. However, they do have regular special buys for meat. For nearly everything else, they can't be beat for both price and quality. The wait is not long at the register, and I feel much more comfortable shopping there than in the larger more crowded grocery stores. I work for the military and where I am now, they have no Aldi. Wish they did. Will be back in Utica this summer. read more

Best prices around. It's a hike to get to any one of these but well worth it. In my case, you can get double or triple the groceries you get at Price Chopper ect.. for the same price! And their food/produce is fresh! read more
