I separate people into two different categories... people who dig Aldis and people who've never been there. Truth be told, I spend a lot of time at Wegmans & Tops. With the mothership Wegmans within a short drive, who wouldn't? However, I do save a lot of $$ when I include Aldis in my rounds. They've got a great selection of staple goods and periodic deals on other fine food items. I find it funny that friends who NEVER go here have gone GA-GA over the Pittsford Trader Joes. What they don't understand is Trader Joes shares a common corporate parent with Aldis. The stores share a similar approach to merchandising and quality of goods. The difference is the targeted market. Aldis skews its products more towards the price sensitive customer & carries fewer luxury items. That's it. I've already found some analogous products between the stores. The Aldis store in Penfield is the one I frequent the most. Very clean & well stocked. Very friendly & helpful staff. If you haven't shopped Aldis, give it a whirl. read more

I grew up in the 50s 60s 70s 80s my Dsd owned 4 IGA super Mkts so I grew up on Hellmans Heinz ETC all fresh cut Meats I have a very hard time shopping there so I think people go there for Price not taste at all well said read more

If I was able to I'd give Aldi's a 3.5 out of 5 Stars. It's "hit or miss" most days when shopping at Aldi's. Let me first start by saying Aldi's offers some of the best unassumingly amazing chocolate bars! They are delicious and cheap - and I can't ever seem to pass them up when I first enter the store. The stores set-up is always in disarray and things can sometimes be scattered about but if that doesn't bother you then you are in to receive some great deals. One of my favorite "hidden" favorites at Aldi's (which still even surprises me) is their $2.49 boxes of frozen mussels-- yes, I know...frozen mussels BUT they are delicious!! They come in three different flavors- mine is the tomato one. Usually I get fresh mussels from another store but these are wonderful, cheap and nice to have on hand for quick meals. I don't usually get meat products from Aldi's - they just don't seem to provide the best quality meat products (other then the spiral hams around Easter-- ALWAYS a great price and value). But they do have great frozen products, for great prices!! read more

First time to an Aldi and I'm still a little confused. I've been told that they offer high quality products at remarkably low prices. That may be true but it was hard to see past the supreme ugliness of the store. From the way the fruit was displayed, to the paint, to the color of the tile it almost looked like they were trying to make it visually unpleasant. They probably weren't going for a ghetto feel but that's the impression I walked away with. We've got an Aldi opening up near us next month so I'll have an opportunity to see if that first impression was a fluke or not. read more

I am a Stay At Home Mom... which means I don't make a salary outside of hugs and kisses... Aldi is a great way to help make my husband's paycheck stretch that little bit more. I shop at Aldi first... I get my basics here. Cereal, bread, milk, eggs, snacks,bottled water, even some produce... Heck- why not get my Driscoll Strawberries here if they are almost a dollar cheaper? it is a really great generics store. They don't skimp on flavor and the cost is fabulous. The employees are helpful and cheerful everytime I go. But it isn't very fast- there are only a couple of lanes going at a time- it is a SMALL store. So if you are in a huge hurry you have to time it right. There are no frills here. Be prepared for this- I dont mind bringing my bags- i bring them to Wegmans too. If you dont' bring them you buy them. YES you buy them! Not for much but you pay for the paper or plastic... You will also put a quarter in your cart to make sure you bring it back. No frills... You bag your own... yes... you bag your own groceries. It's all good though- you know you won't break your own eggs and you can make sure you are putting all your stuff where it goes... Yes, I am that OCD. I have actually come to like bagging my own groceries! OH NO CREDIT CARDS EITHER.... just debit/ ATM or cash... No frills= but the price is right! And your wallet will be very happy with you... so will your pantry! read more

This is a well stocked store and the staff is usually on point. They have everything you would want at your Aldi and sometimes sales on items too. As you know you need to use a quarter to get your cart and yes you need your own bags. If you are looking for organic they have it, non gmo stuff to.. it's in a good location and lots of parking. read more

One of the smaller stores in the Rochester area but very convenient when you are comparing produce prices in Penfield. When Wegmans sells $2 overripe avocados, drive a block down and buy at .79 each. Other produce worth getting here are spaghetti squash (I spent $7 for a small at Wegmans), red potatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, baby portobello, strawberry (same brand as Wegmans) and tomatoes. They even have chiquita bananas. The only produce I have complaints about is their lemon, lime and English cucumbers...yes even the minis. These are only good for 24-48 hours so be selective on the size and quantity. Their healthy brand of kale is great too. It comes trimmed and cut to perfect bits. Since taking up baking, I come here to stock up on heavy cream and butter. Tons of savings on the heavy cream alone! The old fashioned oats are very reasonably priced too. Their cereal isn't too bad either and they sometimes have top brands in stock. read more

Smaller selection but lower prices, and better quality packaged food ingredients, than most comparable items found in Wegmans/Tops. Always clean, usually tidy, but usually not well stocked while I like to shop which is during the off hours. Today I stopped by on a Sunday at 1pm to pick up cold comfort items and it was the busiest Ive ever seen it, but completely stocked of everything. I luv their Simply Nature product line. Service personnel are well nderful; polite, friendly and recognizing regular customers. Vegetable selection is good but quality is impoverished - mold spots on broccolis, asparagus you'd best eat immediately, iceberg lettuce with rotten spots etc. not acceptable. M arts and frozen foods are just fine. read more
