Stopped to get a sub. Waited over 20 mins just to order with 3 people total in line. Order steak sub and watched the girl preparing it. Squeeze the steak meat with her hands... It was so gross. Bloody water poured from the fatty meat. So unappetizing. I asked her, "is the meat cooked?". She said it would be toasted. Then this guy proceeded to whisper derogatory things about me to her while she was preparing my sub. Did he think I couldn't hear him? (Eye roll). read more

It's Wegmans yea.. it's Wegmans. I've been here before, I forgot about a review. This is a slightly older store . The flow inside is like the one on Caulkins Road but narrower. They have a good selection of pre made food and a nice outdoor area where you can sit and the tables also have umbrellas and oddly enough it's kind of quiet considering. Staff is pleasant and friendly. Parking is to be expected crazy it's Weggies. They are usually stocked up and the flow of customers does not freak me out. They have parking cause they are Wegmans. This Wegmans in CHILI is very cautious. They have someone at the front door greeting you and making sure you have a clean shopping cart. You must wear your face cover as well, due to the Coronavirus precautions. This isn't the wegmans I always shop at, but it was really nice and clean. Friendly employees, great subs and fresh sushi. Wegmans have any and everything you would want and need for your household or business. From frozen, harvest, cooked and etc. I'm still looking for capellini and Asiago and also antibiotic free roasted turkey. I asked several people at the deli and they didn't have any. So, I'm just going to have to wait until this Coronavirus pandemic is over with and hopefully one of these Wegmans grocery stores will have it. My son and husband end up ordering a sub combo. You just have a special connection to your "hometown" Wegmans, right? The one you went to with your mom as a child & complained until you got your free cookie? The one you want to after prom to grab snacks? This is that Wegmans for me and I honestly believe it is the best Wegmans location in town (yes, I am looking at you Pittsford location. This one has you beat!) Maybe it is my west side sensibilities or maybe it is just nostalgia, but this location has the quality in service and ease of shopping that Pittsford lacks. Chili-Paul Wegs has a super specific vibe, and every time I go in there I feel a sense of community and togetherness unlike the many other stores I've been to. This store changed layout for the better and has everything you might need. The employees here are simply the best and their prepared foods are delish. Today I visited Wegman's in Chili and purchased a 2-pack of their large cannolis from the bakery. I noticed when I took a bite of one of them, the shell was soft, not crunchy, indicating it was not fresh. But even more troubling, was the fact that only the ends of the shell were filled with cannoli cream - the center was hollow. Both cannolis were like this. It has been a while since I last purchased these, but I don't remember them being so frugal with their ingredients. Is this shrink-flation or what? The new self checkout system is terrible. I've spoken to the SCO staff about it and they agree, they have received many customer complaints about this terrible system, why is nothing getting done if everyone agrees its terrible? I am no longer shopping at wegmans because of how ridiculous and slow the systems are. It takes double the time it used to to cash out, and my only other option is waiting in crazy long lines. I am not going to steal, but I feel really annoyed with these machines making me feel like a thief! Get rid of them please, no one is benefiting and people are starting to shop elsewhere. read more

COVID boredom continues to lead my roommate and I to explore a wide variety of Wegmans. This one is particularly far into suburban nowheredom; we thought we'd driven too far when it appeared like an oasis at the side of the road. It is quite a good Wegmans. Probably at the border of 4 and 5 stars, but I like to be judicious about my five-stars. It doesn't have the absurdity of Pittsford or even Eastway, although it does have a very large selection of cheddars in a separate wall-mounted refrigerator, and the produce seemed quite fresh. It was crowded, but that might have just been going during the day. I'd say it's most comparable to East Ave, except a bit less cramped. read more

I just love wegmans! But in all honesty I haven't really shopped at this one to have the full experience! I was in the area and slightly hungry and decided the wegmans buffet sounded delicious! It was a Saturday afternoon around 1 o clock when I arrived to the lovely gates of wegmans! Food was on the brain and I see fresh pans of hot,steamy, delicious food being placed on the buffet line. Just looking at it put me in a food coma! Immediately I grabbed the biggest to go container I could see and just started shoveling In! I just love the various options you can select from for being such a small buffet. I always go to the Chinese portion first. My box was piled as high as I could make it with delicious sesame chicken and low main! The fried rice is pretty good too! (Wish there wasn't egg in it though!) It's a Wegmans....like I said....Wegmans. I have previously discussed my like of Wegmans and all of what they offer and the Chili branch is no exception to this. The same sections are ever-present here which are not limited to the baked goods, sub and pizza shop, meats, produce, and flora. I admire how well this branch is kept up, not a stain to be found...impressive no? The employees are very resourceful, much more than I thought possible. They have a "Helping-Hands" section of a job where they help eldery or people in need, carry their bags for them...that may seem generic but it works pretty well. My only complaint is the lines as some of them move slow but nearby ones speed on by...but I don't know if the employees are to blame for this so i don't let it bother me. As Wegmans goes, this is a fine branch to do some grocery shopping for the week or...for as long as you like. read more

Case in point, the negative nelly who gave Wegmans a 2-star, although entitled to their own opinion, can then go shop at Tops or Big M?? Now that we live in NC, we totally miss Wegmans. Wegmans isn't my favorite grocery store because the prices are relatively higher than other stores and now they moving to only sell their products. And some of those items I don't like. However, I do like their personally made things; cheese dip, donuts, subs. So I will adventure into here on occasion for one of those items. This Wegmans in particular is my morning stop on the way to work if it is my day to bring the treats. Opens super early so I can get the freshest baked goods for my co-workers. As always, employees are beyond nice and accommodating. This one happens to be in Chili (for you out of towners, people here for some strange reason pronounce the town of Chili as "chai-lye" rather than "chilly") and it is nearly the same as most other Wegmans around town. It's not just a grocery store, it's a super market. A mega market. You can basically do close to 75% of your shopping here if you wanted to. If you have explored the reviews of other Wegmans, it's essentially the same. Fresh produce section, cafe section with coffee and stuff, bakery, meat market, sub shop, pizza, cold cuts, seafood, organic stuff, cheese, olive bar, canned/boxed stuff, dairy, cups, glasses, kitchenware, bathroom stuff, makeup, florist... I suppose I'll stop here because it would take probably a few more minutes to list enough stuff to cover what you can find here. Of course, I will make a special note that the craft beer selection is good for a regular supermarket. Wegmans is always clean and employees are helpful. Lines move in a fairly quick fashion (usually... there are times when the cashiers look like they're in a different world) and there is a lot of selection. It's also open 24 hours. A HUGE plus for me. We don't realize how lucky we are to be spoiled by this. I lived in FL for a while and there is hardly anything open past 10pm near where I lived. I would get home from school and not be able to go to the grocery store. So yeah. I like Wegmans. read more

Wegmans is like a cult. If you did not grow up in Upstate NY you'll find this out when you move here. I'm still disturbed by it. They sell too much Wegman's brand crap and discontinue brands I like. I'm not sure what makes people love this place so much. It's clean, super-clean, love that aspect, but otherwise it's a freaking grocery store. People act like it's Adventureland and get all excited about the place. Don't ever say anything negative about it or you will be looked at like you're insane. Just grin and say it's awesome even if you don't really believe it. Their pre-made dinners/food are GARBAGE. It' the most bland food you could ever buy in your life. Literally nothing has flavor. I don't know how they manage to make everything without flavor. Their pizza is actually decent because it's thinner crust. You'll have to throw some garlic and red pepper flakes on for taste, but for Rochester it's actually a very good option for pizza. Wegmans....ugh. read more

This review is for the beer. Nice selection but rarely fresh. Stuff sits on the shelf at room temp for months. And the craft pack is where beer goes to die. Even beer that should be fresh by a certain date is stale, lacks hops or has off flavors/aromas. I just got a craft packs recently, checking the beers dates carefully and 4/6 were duds and only worth dumping down the drain. Really frustrating. You can't take beer that has sat in warm temps and not kept cool for months and then throw it in the cooler and expect it to just be fresh all of a sudden. All their beer should be more closely monitored from distributor to customers hands and kept cold or cellared properly the entire time they are in Wegman's hands. Until they can change this I will be take my business to AJ's beer warehouse permanently. EDIT: 12/27/2016 updated their selection in the last few weeks to include several new breweries but all this has done is put more craft beer/cider on shelves and more macro cheap beer in the coolers. read more

I make a bi-weekly trip here and have an great Wegmans experience here. They have a very good selection of prepared foods and they just remodeled the meat section. I wish they could add the personal shopper to this location like pittsford so you can just order your groceries through the app and pick them up. read more

I'm rating specifically Wegman's Subs. I have not tried ALL the places that serve subs in the Chili Ave area but so far Wegman's is my favorite. A little over $8 feeds two people on a large cold cut sub. They put plenty of meat, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes on the sandwich. Personally I think they could cut the onions a little thicker.
