Aldis on general is good pricing but this store is inferior to the one in Greece in every way. No auto checkout and always understaffed. Also they won't even throw items in the bags you provide when asked to unlike Aldis in other location. This makes bagging even more inefficient relative to other Aldis in the area. I really like Aldi's as a whole. I enjoy being able to run into a store and not be overwhelmed by the amount of options for items I am in need of. Honestly, how many brands of cereal do you need? Or cake mix etc?? Aldi's offers one. On occasion you will find a name brand item, like Special K cereal bars etc... but this is few and far between. Make sure you check out their imitation Doritos, they are $1.19 and extremely comparable to the real deal. I'm not joking, check them out! As for this location, I am not a big fan. Its it a tad ... Need to save money on your groceries??? Head to Aldi's. just make sure to bring a quarter so you can use a cart to shop.....you get your quarter back after you return the cart. I really like this concept, never any carts just waiting to hit your car in the parking lot! Also make sure to bring bags or reusable totes to pack your groceries in....they will charge you for bags. This is a smaller location but they always seem to have something here for everyone. I really like their produce selection and dairy items. Can't beat the prices!! This is my go-to grocery store for cost-efficient and fuss free shopping. It does not have a lot of parking spots but they are enough. Things I recommend for costing less than Wegmans and good quality: cheese (especially the whole ones), avocado (when it's below 1 buck), milk, eggs, fresh chicken wings, fresh salmon, bell peppers, organic spring mix, 12-grain wheat loaf, chia seeds, flax seeds, cut flowers, almond milk, lamb rack/chop (watch out for the special). They carry almond flour, too!! Most fruits and produce, while the selection can be limited, are good quality and cheap. And their store-brand snacks, like chips and crackers, have no difference from their name brand counterparts. Also you need to grab the mango salsa :) read more

Aldi is a limited selection supermarket. You get high quality, usually private label, goods at very low prices. Aldi is one of the largest chains in the world, it operates in many countries. It has a unique concept (e.g. you need to "rent" the cart, using a quarter that you get back when you return the cart) and huge buying power that it passes on to the consumer in form of savings. We go to Aldi first, buy what they have, and then go on to a regular supermarket for the rest of what we need. Since we started this our weekly grocery bill has gone down about 30% from before. Most everything I purchase at Aldi is very good. I did buy the Priano spinach manacotti which some were delicious others were sour for some reason. Cheese filling had to have soured in some. The ones not sour were really good but makes me afraid to buy again. read more

Why not save some money? Bring a Quarter so that you can get a cart - Its a deposit you get it back when you return the cart. Also bring your own bags, so you don't have to pay the minimal price to buy some. I like Aldi for some routine items that I don't care what brand they are like Milk, Fat Free Half/Half, LF Cream cheese, Eggs, Frozen Veggies. They do have some decent produce that are reasonably priced and fresh -You have to check it over good though. I don't buy meat here - not that I've had a bad experience. They do have some brand name items here that can be decently priced but often the national brands they have here are at the going rate not with major discounts. Best grocery store in town! I shop regularly at a number of different stores including Wegmans, Costco, and the ethnic places because I love all the unique items that are available at those places, but ever since Aldi expanded their Jefferson Road store I have tried to start there first each week before going anywhere else. Basically they have the same bang for your buck as the big box stores, but they sell in small enough quantities that you don't end up buying something and then having it sit around your pantry for a year. Another thing I love about them is that just about everything they sell tends to be a good deal so I never feel like I have to stress out over whether or not something is on sell like other places. I can literally go all out, grabbing up snacks, OJ, pomegranate juice, steak and lobster, and just about anything else I could possibly want and get out without going past $100. I also like how they vary things up with different specials to keep things interesting, like the Pork Schnitzel they had this weekend. The staff were helpful and I was able to find all the other items that went with that dish. Another under-appreciated aspect of this store is the quarter-buggy system (although the first time I encountered it I must admit that I found it laughable), which basically gives people an incentive to not leave buggies lying around in the parking lot and put your car at risk of getting hit! Every other grocery store has a big problem with buggies laying around and if I have to bring a quarter or load everything up in a couple repurposed snack boxes each time, I say that's worth the trade off! read more

I have been a loyal Aldi customer for many years. It's simply the best store I have ever shopped in, by far. It's not the fanciest, not the biggest in terms of selection. But what Aldi has is a genius no other store has: limited selection of generally high quality products, and absolutely amazing prices. Prices like it's the 1990s. I honestly don't know how they do it. This particular Aldi is my regular and my favorite. Everyone there knows me and my wife Tracey, and they truly feel like family. I like Aldi but I am in love with Wegmans and nothing but Wegmans will ever be good enough for me. Growing up my mom shopped at Aldi often to get great deals so when this location opened I knew I would look into shopping here more often to save that money. There are some great deals and Aldi has some really great product. I suggest coming here to stock up on random pantry options. They have great prepackaged sides and snacks. There is a good selection of frozen foods as well. Being that I am a Wegmans gal I wish this location was a big larger but it will do. Aldi is frustrating for so many reasons. The quarter in the cart concept is annoying. I don't walk around with quarters in my pocket. Yes, you get your quarter back after you return your cart but whatever happened to the honesty policy. Dear Aldi, I promise I won't run off with your cart after shopping. So I always have to walk in here without a basket or a cart and it makes me want to just walk right out. Another reason why Aldi frustrates me is because it's unorganized. Dry food are in these cardboard bins and you really need to go up an aisle one way looking at only one side and then go back down looking at the other side because it's easy to miss things and the aisles are far too wide to do the left right look at the same time. Maybe it's me, maybe my vision is going, but I don't think so. Now, I liked Aldi because they have a precent decent selection of gluten free snacks like rice cakes, cookies, brownies and crackers. Not the healthiest as everything I picked up was loaded with either saturated fat or sodium, but it's nice to know they have these options. They even had gluten free baking flour, brownie mix and a pizza mix which I thought about trying, maybe if I had a cart. The produce looked pretty fresh from what I could see and the price is right, that's why people come here, I think. I'm just always hesitant about buying things with brand names I've never heard of, especially when it comes down to the frozen food. Out of all of Aldis in Rochester, I think that this is the one that is typically the busiest every time. You can access the location by pulling around Wegmans, in front of Citizens bank, just avoid the pot holes for your precious whip. Best times to come are during the day if you can, during the week. Fresh produce is put on on Tuesdays and Sunday mornings to comply with their weekly flyer. Sometimes this location runs out of things because it is busier than the Mt. Read, Penfield, or Lyell locations (I can't speak for Hudson Ave). They carry gift certificates and now accept credit cards. Soon they will be accepting public assistance for those who direly need fresh produce on a tight budget. This store is usually pretty busy, but they are well stocked over all. I wish they had more than 1 or 2 registers open, but that seems to be a common thing no mater what store you're at. Fantastic grocery store with fantastic prices. Aldi's has a no name brands, but they do have a little bit of everything, but not a lot of variety. I go to the market for the majority of my food but there are a few key things I get at Aldi's. Peanut butter, they have an great organic peanut butter that is really affordable. Ground Turkey, 20 oz for about $3, awesome deal. I make 3oz sliders with a nice variety of spices. Butter, milk, eggs, and paper products round out my shopping list.They have a lot of seasonal items as well and you never know what you'll find. read more

I am a fan of Aldi... I have to say that then we first moved to Roc and were living on one paycheck, it got us through, lol! I still come here a couple times a month to pick up things, and it does save money. Their prices here are quite low. Many of their items are as good or better than the "brand name" items... You just have to be open minded! My snobby husband was *shocked* that I bought the Aldi's mayo...as he insisted he only liked the "blue ribbon" brand...and he actually preferred the Aldi! Their cereals, cheeses, dairy are usually pretty good. For produce, proteins, and coffee, I invariably go elsewhere... But for basics and snacky things, Aldi is solid. Be prepared (as I was not aware the first time I went) you have to "rent" out a store cart for a quarter which you get back when you return the cart, and bring your own bags...or else you have to purchase them. For some reason WNY State has issues w/ booze in stores a good deal of Aldi's with no liquor issues have wine & beer. For the price it's pretty good. Look at the produce, the prices for some stuff it's the best price around other stuff your better off going someplace else. Not a bad location except lot of stuff is gone over and if you go to lesser known locations they will have more of what you are looking for. I love our neighborhood Aldi. It's my preferred place to shop, and it's near everything: Wegmans, Whitehouse Liquor, Marketplace Mall, Walmart easy parking and you can't beat the prices; get your "white whole wheat bread" for half the price of larger chains. I love that you need to bring your own bag, or buy one . Fresh salmon is cheaper here than most places, and it's fresh & delish. Their hummus, goat cheese, and hard cheeses are very good. I also really like the Fit & Active products from the 100 calorie cookies to the frozen French fries to the boxes of broth. The nuts are also good and, of course, priced reasonably! My daughter likes the baked goods, specifically the big choc chip muffins. The "generic" cereals are good too, esp the Cinnamon Toast Crunch knock off . Salad bags are good. Meats are good. Greek yogurt is good. Produce is inconsisten, but when it's good it's great; you have to be choosy. I think I visit my Aldi 3x a week, because they do have sales, so I stock up. Aldi is a great little store for the person who wants to stretch their dollar a little further. They're nowhere near as big as a Tops or Wegmans, so don't plan on doing your weekly grocery shopping here. Aldi gets a lot of their products shipped in from international brands (especially Germany), so they have a lot of great alternatives at a cheaper price. Looking for mini muffins or Fiber One bars? Aldi has a cheaper off brand. Looking for some cheese and crackers to go with your wine? Aldi has great cheeses at fantastic prices. They even have a small bakery section where you can find all kinds of breads and bagels. If you have an Aldi near you and you're looking to save a little money on some of your groceries, check them out. Just remember to bring a reusable bag or two. Aldi doesn't put your purchases in plastic bags like other stores do, but they have paper and reusable bags under the check out counter that you can purchase. Depending on what type of bag you get it can cost you anywhere from $0.06-$1. They also encourage customers to take any empty boxes that they find lying around the store and use those to put your groceries in.
