I don't have an Aldi close to me so have only been a few times. I'm glad I stopped in this one in Fairmount! I found some really good sale items-AHA sparkling water 8 pack for 96 cents! Ocean Spray cranberry sauce for 50 cents! I also had read about their brioche bread. It comes in a pre sliced loaf for around $4.49. It was perfect for French toast and makes a sandwich more tasty. I also bought fruit and veggies that were fresh for much lower prices than the supermarket. This location was clean and a little more spacious than others I've been to. Both cashier and self checkout are available. You do need a quarter to get a cart at Aldi. Parking was a little confusing. There was a sign for Aldi parking but it was a paid lot. I didn't see any info about complimentary parking for shoppers. I parked on the street about 1/2 block away. Not good if you have heavy items. read more

I was excited to check out this new Aldi in my neighborhood. It's very clean and modern and has parking. If not familiar with Aldi, they are cheap because the staff is very low. You bring your own bags (or buy there for just 10 cents) and do your own bagging. There was only one cashier open. The produce was terrific. A mix of regular and organic. Some unusual items like Meyer lemons . Prices significantly lower than Acme or whatever. Good selection of cheeses. Average meat dept.; crappy ice cream selection. Weird assortment of dry goods. In short I would probably make this a weekly stop for produce only. Oh one more thing: they carry fresh Kringle from Wisconsin! If you've never had it, treat yourself to a slice or two with tea or coffee. You're welcome. read more

I thought this newer Aldi at Ridge and Fairmount might have a better selection than the one I frequent at 32nd and Girard but it did not. What it did have was the added burden of having to park in a garage and bring a cart down and up again on the elevator. Way more work for nothing special. read more

I like this store's layout and the quality of the food is generally very good. The prices are great. But there are issues and they relate to how it is run, and in particular in terms of COVID-19 best practices. On ever visit to the store I see the exact same thing with the cashiers. Masks slipping down their face, noses exposed. And when your nose is exposed, it means you are breathing on the outside of the mask. Then, just before handing a customer's items, the employees will adjust their ill-fitting mask. They do so by touching the part of the mask they are breathing on then their nose is exposed. Which means their fingers are coming into contact with potential infectious matter. And then they touch all of your food items as they check you out. This behaviour renders the mask itself practically useless. I'd like to see this store improve on best practices. I'd like to see noses covered up and furthermore, if an employee touches the outside of their mask, I'd like to see them use some hand sanitizer before handling food items. It's a matter of safety, not just common sense. read more

This is the second time we've purchased pork way before it's expiration date but we bring it home and immediately open it up to find that it is expired. The smell is so awful, it is completely rancid and two different colors. So disappointed, between this and the produce that only lasts a few days before becoming rotten, I don't know why we bother going back. read more

My review is for ALL Aldi's... Horrible if you are handicapped. You have to pay for a cart, but you get it back once you return the cart. Great if you have walking issues. (I guess they figure they only want healthy and wealthy customers). They designed their store so you have to turn your cart away from the exit in order for the cashier to check your cart. Why have a conveyor belt? They will be happy to give you store credit over cash for a return... Their merchandise can be purchased online from China at much cheaper prices at Ebay, Walmart...and sometimes Amazon. Their packaging is NOT environmentally friendly (but they are not the only marketplace doing this). Most everything they package is in unrecyclable plastic (check it out for yourself!). Grow your own food. You'd be better off. read more

Aldi's prices are great and their black label brand is 100@. They even had Scottish shortbread over the holidays (should have gotten more than one tin). Also, their Specialty Vanilla Ice Cream reminds me of the way ice cream used to be. read more

Check out the newly opened Aldi at 1309 Fairmont. Roomy store with even wider isles. Excellent selection of produce and new selections in the frozen food department. They have also improved there selection of cheeses which had been lacking. I recommend the vintage Irish cheddar. Same great prices. What also impressed me is the spacious and secure indoor parking garage. And you can't beat the quick check out process. read more

Not a good Aldi. Shelves are always empty. And prices are much much higher on meat and seafood than a lot of "regular" grocery stores now. Aldi is no longer the cheapest game in town. It's sad to see what happened to this chain during the pandemic. Trader Joe's, Sprouts, Walmart, and even Giant are all cheaper than this jawn. And I know a lot of stores have supply chain issues but nothing is emptier than Aldi right now. Just bare as bones in there. Aldi is still cheaper for a lot of dry items but do avoid there meat and seafood (that is if you can even find it). Atlantic salmon $8.50/lb at Aldi, $7.99 at sprouts, $7.90 at Walmart. Ground turkey $4.00/lb at Aldi, $7.69 at Walmart, $7.60 at Trader Joe's. read more

This is a customer service grievance. After making a purchase 9:03 A.M. and the security tag had not been deactivated. As I hesitated at the entry, I was accosted by a woman saying she was the store manager asking me to show my receipt. I requested she verify the sale with her cashier due to it only being one on duty. I stated, I am not responsible for tag deactivation. Also I referenced her to their security system for verification. She then said, I was not allowed in her store again. It is not required to provide receipts after a purchase and truly is unethical, as we the public provide stimulation to this present day economy. I am waiting to hear from the Aldi's district customer service manager. read more
