Got a few items on a recent visit - Savoritz Pita Crackers: Sea Salt / Garlic & Chive - both are excellent. I usually get several boxes of them. I also tried Clancy's Cinnamon Apple Straws - after I had a bite of just one, I wished I had grabbed more bags (this has become a favorite). I have also become a fan of their Muenster Cheese - I like how it is packaged and easy to access each slice (can't say the same for the Sargento brand from a different grocery store). They have changed the layout since my last visit, but I can still find everything I need. read more

Not my go-to Aldi location but I was nearby and needed a few things so I stopped in. I love that they have a self-checkout. It's almost rare these days! The store was busy but I was able to get in and out quickly, thanks to the self-checkout. I would come back again if I'm nearby but won't go out of my way. The big attraction for Aldi, of course, are the prices often half or less than the major chains. The drawbacks are limited selection and constantly changing items in stock. This location is generally kept clean and there is plenty of parking. The produce is good, not great. Most onions, potatoes and fruit is sold in 5 pound bags, which are of little use to a single person. I like most of the Aldi food products and find them equivalent to national brands. One exception is soup. I found these to be tinny and little flavor. Usually only 1 or 2 check out clerks working and lines are usually long. I honestly really love having an Aldi location in Layhill's Shopping Center. It's so convenient and I appreciate that everything is pretty much affordable with still very good quality items for purchase. This Aldi location is a bit on the smaller end compared to other locations that I've seen. The staff is friendly but many of them do not speak english very well so be patient and work with them. Another issue that I have is that their products are fairly limited. They don't have a large variety of items to choose from so you may have to go elsewhere to find what you're looking for (I couldn't find Puff Pastry Sheets)! Parking is a bit frustrating as well since it tends to be a bit crowded and many people are walking back and forth to their cars and the store. I'd say to just be mindful and park further away if you're worried about someone tapping your car and such. Otherwise, it's a very convenient grocery store to have! Between the slimy lunch meats and rotten produce, I'm beginning to think less of shopping at Aldi.

I am a fully converted shopper. I used to shop at a different grocery conglomerate, but wanted to find something else. I love Aldi because it's a smaller scale store, I don't mindlessly stroll the aisles overwhelmed with all the options. It's small enough for the staples and big enough to buy some extra things down the "aisle of shame". I find some amazing things here. I especially love this location for self checkout. I usually go shopping here with two littles, so the simplicity of doing self checkout is a 10/10 in my book. read more

We shop here first. Best prices. Fresh produce. Lots of more European style foods. Checkout lines can get a bit long. But their staff is hard-working and they jump right in, when needed, and get you moving through. Take a quarter! You'll need it to rent your shopping cart. This is not my normal go to Aldi but it's a great substitute when I'm in the area. This Aldi is updated and spacious when inside. Each one is set up slightly different but I enjoy getting a lot of my organic staples here. Organic sugars, flour, oil, and frozen vegetables are always on my list when I come to this location. I typically find more vegetarian options at this Aldi Vs. the surrounding locations. For example, this is the only location with tofu. They do have an AOS section (you know that section with random stuff) but I find it tends to get picked over more than the Rockville location. Parking can either be easy or a pain. Actually that's not true, parking is easy but the parking lot is a mess. There's several other businesses in this strip and lots of foot traffic. Keep your eyes open for other cars and pedestrians! Because this location is 20 minutes away it's not my first choice but I would recommend it if you're nearby. Save some money and try unique products! read more

I've visited this Aldi's for the first time today and was pretty happy with what I found! I've always loved their brie and certainly found it was well stocked in the same low price I remember. I was also curious to see what steaks they had. They had an awesome price for a double pack of bacon wrapped filet mignon and I couldn't have been more excited to take that home to my husband! Their produce is always fun to look through, too. Today I chose a 2 pound container of Keewee's. I can't wait to share them with my kids! It's opening weekend so things are likely more crowded and stocking less coordinated than might be the case on an average weekend (will update review in a few weeks). This is a standard Aldi (think: lower market Trader Joe's...limited selection of items and brands but good prices on the items in stock). The produce section seemed a little sparser than the average Aldi but again hard to judge there were lots of unpacked boxes and workers looking confused about how to restock and where existing not yet packed items should go. The prices on meat/poultry were, in particular, very good compared to Safeway/Giant. As the prior reviewer said: be sure to bring a quarter if you want access to a shopping cart. One star for the service by a checker today at the Aldi's on Bel Pre. That's him in the photo. I didn't have my purse with me as I planned to pay with Apple Pay. I only planned to pick up a couple of things and didn't get a cart. Nor did I have a quarter. I didn't realize until too late that I bought more than I meant to (what else is new?) I went up to this cashier and asked him if I could please use the unused cart literally and behind him. He looked at me and told me with a straight face, "It's mine. " I couldn't tell if he was kidding so I asked if he was serious. He was! Geez. Funny, I just came from the Smoothie King next door and paid for the smoothie for the fellow behind me. The Aldi in Plaza del Mercado has now been open for about six months and I'll tell you what...the parking lot is always full now. Yeah, a bunch of those cars are going to the L.A. Fitness next door, but the bottom line is that between them they have revitalized the shopping center. I'd never shopped in an Aldi before and was excited because I'd heard great things. I was super disappointed the first few times I went in; I couldn't buy just a couple of bananas (or any other produce item) and they don't have any vegetarian section. It's grown on me, though. I've developed a short list of items (including bananas!) that I buy routinely at Aldi and I just go elsewhere for the rest of it. [A little secret for those who haven't noticed it: the almond milk is just as yummy as Almond Breeze but costs half as much. ] I know they keep costs down by not having chip readers or accepting Apple Pay, but an express lane would be a very welcome concession to customer demand. If they had one I'd give Aldi 5 stars, but until then, 4 it is. read more

This is the nearest Aldi to my home. Always well stocked ( unless it's right before a snow storm). Store always clean and organized. Produce always fresh and well arranged. Poultry could use some help. Not always super fresh looking or organized. Lines move fast but staff is so bland. No friendliness and I've never been able to find anyone on the floor willing to help. Cashiers are fast but again very unfriendly. Would rather feel very welcome when grocery shopping. Otherwise they serve the purpose for the distance it is from my home . Update 5/14/19: Cashier Was moving so fast. I asked for separate transactions and I mistakenly used the wrong card because I didn't realize she had moved on to my next transaction. I brought it to her attention and she asked if I could wait which I did with no problem. Once she could continue helping me I proceeded to commend her on how fast she was moving because clearly I was not up to par with her speed. Instead of just saying thank you she proceeds to argue me and that this is my mistake. Ok , she's frustrated at this point I get it. My issue is instead of addressing me with the issue she made direct eye contact with the people waiting in line in regards to my mistake, no making eye contact with me not once at this point but talking about me with the next customer. I love Aldi. The Bel Pre store is usually well stocked and the staff is always helpful and friendly. Note, however, that you will miss a lot when you shop at Aldi. There are no shopping carts scattered throughout the parking lot and no staff spending inordinate amounts of time reining them in. Instead, you put a quarter into the handle to check out a cart and you get the quarter back when you return the cart. There is no loyalty club. You do not have to prove you are worthy to shop there or to be confronted with confusing offers and touted "SAVINGS!" when you receive a 5% discount on a 10% markup. There is no piped in music. There are also no piped in advertisements. You can shop in peace at Aldi. There are no little tags all over the shelves touting special offers and deals. Those tags cost a LOT of money to maintain and the registers have to be programmed to deal with them. Aldi has no BoGos, no coupons, and no special deals. The price on the shelf is what you pay. For example: Bottled orange juice (never frozen, never from concentrate) at Giant is $3.50 a bottle but on sale they have two for $6.00. The last time I saw that offer, if I had a paper coupon from their flyer I could take an additional dollar off, bringing the cost to $2.50 per quart. Bottled orange juice (never frozen, never from concentrate) at Aldi is $1.99 every day. Your choices are limited. Aldi sells mostly their own brands but that is not a bad thing. Their Savoritz cheese crackers are every bit as tasty, in my opinion, as the Cheeze-It brand but at a substantially lower price. Ditto for their equivalents of Ritz crackers, Pecan Sandies, Fig Newtons, and much more. Their large box of raisin bran with granola is very tasty and priced below what a small box from Post might cost. Selections are limited. Giant and Safeway offer many sizes of canned vegetables from several vendors, i.e., Libby's, Green Giant, Del Monte, and more. Aldi offers two sizes of their own brand. Their quality is always good. You can choose between organic or regular. The checkout experience is quite different. Their checkers sit and scan products, which they place into a shopping cart. They take your cart and give you the one with your food in it. You will have to take the cart to a shelf area and bag your groceries. Note that if you use the self checkout at Giant or Safeway, not only do you have to bag your own groceries, you have to ring them up including weighing the produce. The bottom line is that our grocery bills have dropped substantially since we switched to Aldi. Time in the checkout line is usually less than at the nearby Giant, even when the lines are long. Do we miss the ability to choose between 15-1/2 ounce Libby's peas vs 16 ounce Green Giant peas? Absolutely not . Plus, there are no annoying ads every 2-3 minutes. First problem, paying for the use of a grocery cart, are you kidding 2nd, one of the main problems I haven't shopped at Aldi's, they never have had everything I needed. At checkout, they literally scan then shove/throw your groceries into a cart. Would be okay for bags of chips I guess, but please don't do that for my fruits and yogurts. If you are looking for some staple items to fill your fridge and don't want to battle with which store has what on sale, head here. They even have great prices on cleaning supplies and diapers! Their produce is fresh... and there are a lot of organic options! They carry a lot of store brand options as well as your popular brands. A few reminders so you arent lost on your first trip here: They do not provide bags, so bring your own. They have boxes that you can use. Many a grocery stores have come and gone in the Plaza Del Mercado shopping center, but Aldi was a welcome addition and looks like it is here to stay! I belong to the gym next door and find it really convenient being able to pop in and get some grocery shopping done post workout. It doesn't feel like I'm making two stops before home, a BIG plus. I love that Aldi offers an Active and Fit line and otherwise carries all the essentials I am looking for - like brandname Lifeway kefir for cheaper than Whole Foods. While I don't do all my grocery shopping here (I don't find the fruit selection as expansive as other stores), I can count on Aldi for some staples, no matter the brand. Parking is a bit shoddy and the hours aren't great for night owls like me. read more

I like it! Finally got a chance to go today. I'd been holding off on going because I didn't think I'd like it but I was wrong.There were lots of snacks and convenient items. For me, the location has sealed the deal... also, my check was only $35. What a steal. Check out their salad section, all the greens I bought from there were super fresh. Thumbs up! Great addition to plaza del Mercado. I love the produce section because they stock everything I want and because it's so cheap I can buy even more which means I'm eating more fruits and veggies. You cannot beat these prices anywhere not even Trader Joe's and I think the produce here is fresher than most grocery stores. They also have almond milk for like $2.49 for 1/2 gallon and organic milk for cheap. They actually have lots of organic foods. Horrible! They make you feel like a criminal, having to provide a coin (bygone era) to unlock a cart, like they expect you're really going to steal it. They make you guess how many bags you need, pay for them, and then bag the groceries yourself. This is a very bad customer experience design, given you can get Whole Foods delivered to your door, or even from Walmart. On top of the bad CX, their selection is random and limited. Not enough for full recipes. If you need onions or European tin cookies, maybe. It's like the Ross Dress For Less of food, but in a European airport where everyone is rude and unhelpful. read more

I really love Aldi. Excellent prices on produce, cheeses, canned items, frozen food, dairy, snacks- well, you get the picture. Aldi also has holiday specials with imported foods and chocolates and cookies- as well as household items/clothing/exercise equipment which changes. No, it does not have everything and you have to pack your own bags but the cashiers are very careful when they put your items in the cart. This Aldi was built in their new mode with bathrooms and more items. The other Aldis in the area have been remodeled as well. In the same shopping center is a French bakery with amazing almond croissants and good coffee. The money you will save at Aldi will more than cover this treat. read more

I am not a good, budget grocery shopper. I forget coupons, throw items in my grocery cart on a whim, and rarely stick to my grocery list. But I had heard about Aldi's low prices for years and was curious to shop there. Finally, husband and I visited the fairly new location not far from our house last week. Our first challenge was how to unlock the chain on the grocery cart. I watched the lady beside me and remembered you deposit a quarter (you get a quarter back when you return the cart). After unleashing our cart we entered the store and Rich immediately grabbed a box of granola cereal for $1.79. We picked up hamburger buns and carrots and some other vegetables. As others have said there is not a huge selection on some items, but on others there is quite a variety. It seemed like there were a lot of snack items, cheeses, and nuts. Eggs were 59 cents a dozen, soup 69 cents a can. There are some name brand items but most are Aldi's brand. In the frozen food case I noticed mussels in butter and garlic sauce. We had them that night and they were every bit as good as most I've had in nice restaurants. We liked them so much I went back a few days later and bought more, plus the tomato garlic flavor. At Aldi you bag your own groceries. The cashier rings them up and puts them back into your cart. There is a ledge along the front wall and you take your groceries there and bag them yourself. Honestly, Aldi's makes it so easy to save money, that while it won't take the place of my regular grocery store, I will definitely be going back on a regular basis. read more

I absolutely love Aldi! Before it opened I had heard that the produce is often too ripe and the store is unclean. This is not the case at all! It's great food and great quality. My review is regarding an incident which happened yesterday. I returned an item unopened with the receipt. The cashier did not scan the item as usual but glanced at the receipt and enter an amount which is half the price of the item. I asked why, I paid that much as shown on the receipt. She did not answer and corrected the price with the manager assistance with the key. I did not get any explanation. My previous returns were without problem. Will continue to shop Aldi but will be paying attention to receipts ! read more

With living in Damascus but working in SIlver Spring, it was always a hassle to make my way to the Aldi in Germantown to go grocery shopping. Now I am ecstatic that one is open literally 2 minutes from where I work! It was a must to go there and check it out, as I'm sure this will be my new regular shopping location. I have to say they did a great job with the whole space. It might just be might but it seems like this Aldi is bigger than others I have seen. It is still very well organized, with overhead labels directing you where different items are. I think the selection of fresh produce is larger as well. I can easily find most of what I need. Except I spent a good while lapping the store trying to find Worcestershire sauce and never did! Maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me, but I was hoping I would find it there, as a commonly used ingredient. I have only stopped in to pick up a few items so far. If you are in the same situation, instead of getting a cart with your quarter, I usually just try to find an empty box laying around to gather all my things. I love that this chain is expanding, especially one that is so Eco-friendly and affordable. Why go to others when you can find products just as good here for a better price? When I go BIG grocery shopping here, I spend a fraction of what I would spend at Safeway or Giant for the same things. So overall, I am Aldi all the way! read more

One of the newer Aldi's in the area, so I love that it is cleaner and more modern than most. This is location is close to Route 200 so I hit this one up on my way home from work. Many in this community were happy to have a grocery store back in the neighborhood since Giant left. Some of us were a little peeved when we heard it was Aldi. I never shopped there before but just had my own biases. I am happy to report that my entire view of this company has changed. The store is very efficient in keeping the items they provide on the shelf. They may not have every item but they have the important necessities. The store is kept clean and the produce is top shelf. My only wish for Aldi is that they open an express line for folks like me with 12 or less items . The store is well managed, kudos Aldi. read more
