There were over 200 exhibitors at the show according to the 6pm news.My favorite artist was there. Murf is the man. He is so talented. I purchased a few items from him. There were sculptures. Art pieces. Hundreds of people walking around. People pushing their dogs in carriages. I even saw a parrot on somebodies shoulder. Just a great afternoon.

It used to be a Post Office, then a federal building, it used to be a location for Romero's "Day of the Dead" that's why we checked it out, then discovered a cool place. Their first venue opened in 2006 on Broadway Street in downtown Fort Myers. While there, they were instrumental in creating the Fort Myers Art Walk which has been going on for ten tears. Later on they became daas Gallery and now their current incarnation is DAAS CO-OP Art Gallery & Gifts. In addition to running the gallery they stage different events throughout the year. Check out their Facebook page for dates and times. Today, DAAS is a cooperative that provides space for local artist to exhibit and sell their work. Support small businesses! The gallery is located in the Gardner's Park District along with other other businesses in the same complex including a garden store, coffee and food shop, and a butterfly aviary. Items they had for sale included wall art, mugs, jewelry, sculptures, magnets, notecards, and clothes to name just a few of the items. The store has a beachy, laid back vibe. I talked to the lady working here and she told me they moved the store to downtown Fort Meyers area recently. They initially had a store on the artsy Matlacha island but it got destroyed by hurricane Ian so they relocated here. I wish I would have gone to Matlacha art village but this store brings a bit of that world to you and to everyone in Fort Meyers. It is great to see work created by local artists. They have everything from pottery, home decor, paitings, sculptures, souvenirs, jewelry. Various styles, materials used for creating wonderful merchandise. Nice surprise to find this cute store and learn about their story. Great they reinvented themselves and keep supporting local artists.
