Been here for yrs and finally met the Dr today . Cool welcoming guy . Id say so far I am ready for our future together . He seems to know me well from the dr that came before him yknow the legendary Dr pelzar. I am kinda tired when I come here so I might ask dumb questions and the staff here seems all for it, they're very helpful. The dental assistants are where the real power play comes in . I wasn't sure how things would be with not being pelzars people anymore but the woman that gave me a cleaning was awesome. We talked for a bit and well we talked about some regular and also she was so informative about my teeth also. I like how I can go here and know there's things I can take away to learn to do better. She also had me wear these cool glasses instead of my own while I was in the chair. The music she had on while working on my teeth was pretty relaxing . The seat was relaxing . I must be bigger then i thought because I kinda knocked into stuff and she was so cool she seemed concerned about my safety there. She told me all about my x rays so I can tell how much of a pro she is. She even put the x ray bites in my mouth in a way that wasn't uncomfortable. This place is close to my house. It's so close I even walked here so I am glad to still be going here. read more

My experiences are mixed. Luckily the medical treatments are professional and I feel in good hands. Unfortunately, the front desk staff always seem so harsh and not welcoming at all. I had noticed this from the very first visit on and I thought the lady just had a bad day. But the tone towards patients and sometimes also colleagues is out of place and really makes visits unpleasant. I just had a cleaning today which went well. I felt in good hands. But checking out AGAIN was very unpleasant. The harsh tone of the lady at the front desk really bothered me. She made me feel as if I did something wrong and I am ruining her day by just being there and checking out. "You have to...", "We need to...", "Especially you have to pay right away because your I did out of network." Really? The tone is NOT acceptable! It really bothers me every time I come here and next time I definitely will say something. A friendly "Hello, how are you?, Have a nice day." goes a long way. I am wondering if the doctor actually is aware of this and what damage it can cause to his clinic. I am going here because the treatment is good but it's definitely not the perfect environment at the office. Treatment would get 5 stars but I only can give 3 because of the unprofessional, rude behavior that I have experienced every single visit. read more

Most of my San Francisco dental experience was in small rooms with no natural light or modern technology and though I had two excellent dentists, Dr. Ross and Dr. Stricker, I rarely looked forward to a visit simply because difficult dental procedures in limited space was always a challenge for the doctor and the patient. I had my first visit with Dr. Klebaner on 7/9/2025 and was gratefully surprised by the beautiful, clean office set in an old San Carlos home and the friendly staff. My first visit was two hours, the first half was a thorough examination and X-rays by Dr. Klebaner and the second hour was a cleaning. Everything about this office is exceptional and the reasons are clear. Each patient room is large with windows giving it a cheerful, welcoming feeling. The equipment and chairs in the rooms are technically up to date. Though the office is comfortably designed with a series of open space rooms along wide corridors, it is the staff that makes this dentist office truly exceptional. Dr. Klebaner is that rare combination of competence, humor and concern for a patient. The initial exam was thorough, Dr. Klebenar not missing a single point of needed care after he reviewed the X-rays, examined the teeth and measured the depth of the gums. Most importantly, he welcomes questions and clearly explains future procedures. The office staff are also experienced, friendly and considerate and do everything well. The dental assistant knew how to both take X-rays and read them correctly and the hygienist did a thorough cleaning (almost an hour long) that included four steps and left the teeth cleaned well. It took me almost a year and half to find a good dentist after my previous dentist retired and gratefully I have found one. One last important point, his referrals for outside speciality work are with dentists who are equally skilled and considerate and again, reflect on the high standard of care his office gives to each patient. read more

My husband had an accident and Dr Klebaner was recommended. He spoke with us out of hours and got him in first thing in the morning for emergency treatment. My husband doesn't like going to the dentist and this experience changed his whole outlook. Not only did his teeth get fixed from the accident, he now likes going to the dentist. Since we're only given one set of adult teeth in life, going to an excellent and trustworthy dentist is of maximum importance to me. Dr. Klebaner is that dentist, and his staff is great too. A now-retired beloved former dentist warned me of dishonesty and incompetence among other dentists, which has made me cautious. Since that former dentist retired, I wasn't satisfied with other dentists until I found Dr. Klebaner several years ago. Dr. Klebaner also happens to be nice and puts me at ease when I'm there. I don't have great dental coverage, and it's worth it to me to pay Dr. Klebaner out of pocket. When I've seen other dentists (who are covered on my not-so-good plan), they've told me I need a bunch of work done. I've seen Dr. Klebaner for a second opinion, and he's let me know that some of the work they suggested was unnecessary. I'm not sure if the other dentists are incompetent, dishonest, or both, but I only want to get the work I actually need done and have it done right the first time. I'm so grateful to have a dentist I can count on and I go to Dr. Klebaner for honest, top-notch, reliable dentistry. 5 grateful stars! read more

Immediately I was impressed by Dr. Klebaner's professionalism, honest opinion, desire to explain different treatment options and ability to listen and even change his ideas to satisfy the patient. Dr. Klebaner was very patient in fixing what was done by my previous doctor, thoroughly step-by-step improving my chewing ability until full satisfaction. My wife was also extremely happy with Dr. Klebaner's competency and attention to details when he installed the front tooth crown for her. If there were 10 stars Dr. Alex Klebaner and staff would deserve it! I live in San Diego CA and came to visit my sister and brother in law. I just had 5 teeth pulled and the stay plate didn't fit. I got off the plane and we drove to my brother in law's dentist, Dr. Klebaner. His receptionist was so kind and understanding and then the doctor was a life saver. We have a new dental "home." This busy working mom is doing a *big* happy dance. My entire family was in need of a new dental practice. The adults were overdue for hygeine and checkups. My kiddo was outgrowing her pediatric dental practice. Where to go? In years passed I'd cycled through a few "recommended" dental practices where the dentists and hygienists all turned out to lack any bedside manner or much intelligence, frankly. The last practice I found through an online review site (ahem) left me asking myself "Are all dentists dumb?" Now clearly that's not a fair statement about dentists, right? But my experience had been telling me that all those aggressive little businesswomen out there flogging dentistry via postcard and various other means couldn't possibly promise me "good care" in the usual sense. They were good businesswomen (for some reason they were all ladies, not sure why - I'm very pro-businesswoman!). But they were, frankly, cr*p dentists who were "phoning in" any semblence of patient empathy. Then, last fall somebody bought the gorgeous old craftsman building around the corner from us. Lots of construction going on! I asked the foreman "Who's going in there?" "Dental practice," he says. Ok, I said to myself - let's check these guys out. I mean really...I've had some bad luck before, how bad can it be? At least these guys have great taste in architecture. Yelp reviews were positive, so that was encouraging (but I'd been steared wrong before). I emailed the dentist - Alek Klebaner, thinking "No way is this man going to answer me." But he did - right away, in a friendly, gracious, articulate manner. (Wow, I'm thinking, great start). Can you possibly help me get my daughter a hygiene appointment soon? I asked him. Her old practice books months ahead. Other practices were quoting MONTHS to get a cleaning. Dr. K got right on it - had his staff call, then he worked us BOTH in, mom and daughter for checkups and cleanings within 14 days of my request. Holy cow! He's smart, analytical, careful, patient, well spoken and he obviously cares a great deal about offering care that's high quality *and* high touch. He cleaned my daughter's teeth himself - to work her in on her Spring break. I saw "Judy" I think (for hygiene) and I adored her - smart, experienced, charming. Dr. K spent extra time with me to discuss my daughter's orthodontic plan, then jumped on the phone to consult with the orthodontist so "We're all on the same page." We love Dr. Klebaner and his staff. My daughter is especially happy with him. He has a little girl about her age, so he understands where kids are coming from. Highly recommended. Do not pass go. See Alek Klebaner if you need quality dentistry. They're at 501 Walnut Street now, by the way. In a lovely older Craftsman building that - kind of like a Tardis - hides its sizeable inner workings behind a charming facade. read more

Dr. Klebaner is the BEST DENTIST EVER! He is so kind, gentle, honest and has a fantastic personality! He almost makes you want to get a cavity -- just so you can see him! :-) My go-to dental hygienist is Judy. She is AMAZING! She's the only one I will see. I'm sure the others are great too -- but I adore Judy. I look forward to seeing her every 6 months -- as it's always a pleasure to "catch up"! Nicest person EVER! Side Note: It was virtually impossible to get my husband to go to the dentist (for 18 years), but after seeing Dr. Klebaner and Judy - he actually looks forward to going! And trust me... that's no small feat! And of course I cannot forget to mention his staff... they are all FANTASTIC! They are all so knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and competent! I really appreciate having Dr Klebaner for a dentist. He's very smart and always remembers whatever I told him about my life the last time I was in 6 months before. That never fails to impress. Further, his skills with a needle are quite good (I have had few cavities in my life so I was a little worried about it, but I barely noticed when he used it) and his "chairside" manner is excellent. I've been going to Dr. Klebaner for 5-6 years, so I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review. He is awesome -- conscientious, considerate, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and very careful & detailed in his work. I was referred by my brother, and through all kinds of insurance situations I have never wanted to go elsewhere. Covered or not, I will continue to go to Klebaner's office. I've had all kinds of dental work done since I was a kid -- palate expansion, braces, teeth pulled, etc. So, I have no real fear of the dentist, and thus I don't need my dentist to make his/her office look & feel like a spa or resort. I prefer the practical, no-nonsense dentist, one who will focus on my teeth. Dr. Klebaner's office is clean and comfortable, but not over the top -- they focus on what they do best, not window-dressing. Over the years I've had a number of hygienists (some better than others), but my current one is by far the best -- Jelena (Dr. Klebaner's wife). She is detailed, considerate, and very kind, I enjoy my visits with her. Highly recommended! read more

Besides their "bedside manner," which is the best anywhere- concerned for the patient's comfort, attentive to the slightest negative reaction, talkative but not incessant- they know their craft and go about their duties with diligence and precision. My dad who is 90 years old is afraid of dental work but he finally agreed to see Dr. Klebaner after things got bad. Dr. Klebaner's receptionists were friendly and very helpful to get him in right away. I explained that my dad doesn't have dental insurance and that was no problem. After four invites, my dad's smile is much improved and he can eat things he couldn't before. Dr. Klebaner is very generous with his time, super friendly, very professional and I'm so grateful for his work. We were patients of Ben Stolpa originally. When Ben retired, Alek became our dentist. Alek is fine for routine dental work but not root canals. Go to a professional who specializes in this procedure. I changed insurance to Cigna Advantage (only one offered to me) and was told that they accept Cigna. Unfortunately they do not accept Cigna Advantage and we were charged list price - I called 3 times to inquire and were told that our next cleaning would be no charge which didn't happen. When I called the last time, I was told that I chose the wrong insurance plan - No, I chose the wrong dentist. The best part about this office is Judy. She is the best hygienist and the reason we stayed with Klebaner for the past 10 years - we miss her. read more

I was referred to Dr. Alek Klebaner by a friend as I needed a new dentist. As an adult, I had braces, and every risk associated with that, unfortunately, happened to me. I had three root canals, two gum grafts, one implant, and two crowns in addition to one permanent retainer, so there is a lot to look out for when taking care of my teeth. The first two dentists I tried out were nice and nice. They did a quick exam and let me know everything looked fine. I asked if there was anything I should be concerned about, and they both said "no." That response let me know the quality of their work as I had several teeth in bad shape and needed constant attention. So I finally go to see Dr. Klebaner. He was the most thorough dentist I have ever had and spent time examining my bite, my gums, and all of my teeth. He cautioned me about the ones that I knew were problematic. I don't need to speak about his professionalism or his incredibly trained staff because you can't find a better group of individuals to take care of you and your teeth. And this review is not based on the fact that he took me on an emergency basis and lucked out finding a great dentist. It is based on Dr. Klebaner's expertise, guidance, personable character, listening skills, and exemplary work! When I got home, I told my son he was going to see a new dentist. Dr. Klebaner is the most amazing dentist I have ever been to. My first visit to him I was in miserable, severe pain. He examined me and knew right away I needed to head to an endodontist. He personally made sure that I was sent to the best and that I was seen as soon as possible that day. A truly caring Doctor with excellent care. He even followed up the next day with a personal phone call to see how I was doing. They just don't have doctors like this anymore. On top of that, his office is so lovely and very clean. I came to Dr. Klebaner because I chipped my bottom tooth. They got me in the SAME DAY 2 hours later and did a wonderful job! Completely fixed it and I look brand new! I've always had a dentist phobia throughout my whole life and can never just "go casually" to a random dentist, however this one just worked out perfectly. Everyone in the office is kind and thoughtful, and they remember you. They have all the latest digital x-ray equipment, so Dr. K can immediately show your xrays to you on the monitor and point things out. He takes his time and explains things.
