I did not receive a proper teeth cleaning here. The dentist did both my cleaning and inspection, where normally a dental hygienist does the cleaning first but she did everything very quickly under 30 minutes. I received only tooth polish for the cleaning, no plaque scraping with instruments were used as in standard practice, which I desperately needed. I almost feel like I was insurance scammed. She was nice but this was the most inadequate cleaning and visit I've had at a dental office. read more

If there were another way to schedule an appointment with Dr. Wu, I would, but her receptionist is the least empathetic and caring individual that I've ever encountered; to schedule an appointment here is a pain. I, unfortunately, had missed my appointment by 30 minutes because of work and I asked if there was any way to reschedule an appointment. I needed a cavity filling, but of course, I have to do a check-up before that, but the next available appointment wasn't until the END of September, granted we JUST started August. She didn't give me any hope for the time in between. Not a "We'll call you if space opens," not "Let me help you find another dentist," or any words of reconciliation. I understand that we're dealing with COVID right now, but what isn't okay is the absolute lack of care with the receptionist. Dr. Wu is the only warm person within the facility because quite frankly, I have to change my dentist now because there's no way to get treated within the next month, even. My first time at Laurel Dental was simply amazing!!! I'm so used to going to dental offices that that don't know what they are doing. Coming to this dentistry honestly changed my perception on dental practices. Both the dentist, Dr. Wu, and the hygienist, Cindy, really know what they are doing and the best part is that they are extremely good at it. You can just tell right off the bat. Cindy made me feel extremely comfortable and was so sweet to me, talking me through everything she was doing. Dr. Wu is excellent and also extremely sweet. I came in for a consult regarding some gum tissue that was covering my back molar, and Dr. Wu was able to reassure me that it was nothing to worry about. She explained to me very thoroughly why it may have occurred, and it all made sense! This information that Dr. Wu and Cindy told me NEVER came up when I had went to my original dentistry... I had another cleaning today. It's hard to recommend Laurel Dental enough. Dr. Wu is extremely thorough and grounded. I trust her professional opinion. She is punctual and will not upsell you with unnecessary dental work. In the not so distant past, I saw three different dentists in SF over a period of 2 years. Each dentist diagnosed cavities that required immediate attention. I passed on filling them since they were "small". However, it was bizarre that there were no overlaps of cavities identified among the three dentists. Needless to note, Dr. Wu did not see these ephemeral cavities in my x-rays. Unfortunately I cannot attest to the prowess of Dr. Wu; my review is only for their scheduling processes. I have Delta Dental Care USA, and recently changed providers to Laurel Dental starting July 1. When I called to schedule an appointment for after July 1, the scheduling manager on the phone said she is unable to schedule me now, and that I have to wait until after July 1 to schedule an appointment. I then confirmed with her that she can schedule new, uninsured patients (she said yes), so I asked if I could be scheduled now for sometime in early July. Then, on July 1 when my insurance kicked in, I would be covered. She said this was not possible. Upon calling Delta Dental Care USA, they said they would call Laurel Dental on my behalf. The woman from Delta Dental Care USA then returned to the line and said that Laurel Dental isn't accepting any new patients at the moment. If they aren't accepting new patients, a) why did they not communicate that information to Delta Dental Care USA so I couldn't elect to change my provider to them?, and b) why didn't they say that on the phone when I called them directly? I don't think it is too much to ask of Laurel Dental to schedule me for a dental cleaning for the first possible date in July, rather than making me wait a month (only to have early July--if not all of July--book up) to schedule. While I think Delta Dental Care USA could be partially to blame, I did not appreciate the lack of customer service I received when I called Laurel Dental today. read more

Dr. Wu is an excellent dentist. She is very kind, comforting, and above all else, a highly-skilled dentist. I hate the dentist but she makes the experience way more bearable than other dentists. I've had tooth extractions, fillings, cleanings, and crown dine by Dr. Wu and I've never been in pain. And just to make sure, she's always checking to see how you're doing during a procedure. Her office staff are great as well. A major plus is that they do a great job of utilizing your dental insurance benefits. read more

When I went back to California to visit my parents, my tooth started hurting on a Saturday night. I called Laurel Dental of San Carlos, since I've previously been a patient there before and received excellent service. After I explained my problem, Dr. Wu immediately was able to prescribe me some medication for my tooth pain (which I subsequently filled at a 24h pharmacy!), and even managed to squeeze me into her busy schedule at 8am the next morning for a visit! She expertly addressed my problem and resolved my situation the next morning, so I have nothing but good words to say about her professionalism and bedside manner! Dr. Tran recently opened here. She is my primary dentist and I have followed her throughout the bay area. I am terrified of going to the dentist and always end up putting off my visits time after time. She gets you in and out of the chair and makes getting your mouth check painless! She's also opened here on Sundays so I get an extra weekend day to schedule an appointment. Dr. Tran is attentive and cares about me and definitely wants to make visiting the dentist the least stressful thing in your day. Parking is great here as well. This place was listed as "in network" on Cigna. My family member who is visiting from out of town has Cigna and had a dental emergency this morning. After calling to confirm an appointment, we showed up to the office. The office told us they could not check our insurance on a weekend. We said we'd be happy to file it later but asked if they could take our copy of the insurance info and bill it against insurance tomorrow (ie, on a weekend). Great place to take care of your teeth while Covid! I had my appointment today and everything was super clean, they took my temperature and I filled a form about covid symptoms which made me feel very comfortable because I know they care about it. Good Dentist... Worst office staff EVER!!! I have been a patient of Dr. Wu's. I had to change my DeltaCare insurance plan (due to longer getting my insurance thru Covered California). It's basically the same plan, covering the same things. The office manager told Delta (and me) that since my plan has changed from Covered California to Delta Dental, she considers me a new patient and they are not accepting new patients. When I asked to speak with the Doctor I was told that speaking with her would do no good as she doesn't decide these things--even thought it is her practice. Shaking my head...
