So generally I don't write reviews, but Aleks is legit, so read on. Moms stop here. Grab your man, and then keep going. First things first. I was vehemently opposed to having a home birth, but then we had our second daughter at home and changed my mind 1000%. At no point ever would I recommend any woman I care about to have a birth in the hospital ever again. Originally, I was like why would I pay for this if I can just go to the hospital for way cheaper and use insurance to cover all of the costs. Needless to say Aleks and my wife worked me tirelessly to convince me otherwise, and let's just say I'm I came around to their perspective and had a home birth. The ease and smoothness was not for naught. They were right. I was wrong. Aleks was attentive to our family, not only to my pregnant wife, but to me as well. She genuinely cared about everyone's experience. Our birth went very smoothly, and Aleks played her supporting role like a champ. Furthermore, seeing the stark contrast of my wife being treated like a piece of meat in the hospital during the birth of our first child, and then witnessing Aleks' personalized touch when having our second child via the home birth, I can definitely say the experience for everyone was so much easier and more relaxed being at home. I could write a very long essay here, but I'll be brief, if you are on the fence, go with Aleks. Trust her. She will take care of you. If you are thinking about a hospital birth, but don't want to deal with shenanigans, go with Aleks and have your kid at home. It will be so much more peaceful. If there's ever a time when I really needed a strong support system in my life, it would have to be for the process of bringing my daughter in to this world. I had unfortunately experienced a miscarriage after the birth of my son, and this pregnancy was so incredibly desired. I knew I would need a midwife that could not only help me with the physical aspects of labor and pregnancy, but also help me to process emotional traumas that could arise along the way having experienced a loss. I couldn't have picked a better midwife for all of that and more. Not only is Aleks brilliant in her line of work (with more experience and knowledge than most) but she has a way of creating space for you that allows you to process your thoughts, feelings, and decisions in a fully empowered and non judgmental way. She has a humble, loving nature that is also direct and honest- I loved knowing I would get the honest answers from her that were based on facts, never opinions. Some of our appointments together felt like healing therapy sessions where we would have deep soulful chats. Others felt like I was cracking up with a forever friend over some hot tea she made for us. There was never a time when I didn't feel supported by Aleks. She even included my son in all of our appointments, was patient enough to teach him how to use the Doppler, and how to take my vitals at each session together. I felt spoiled by her with healthy treats that she would make and home, just because- and my goodness were they delicious! When I was in labor, she knew exactly where to be and when to be there with out ever making me feel overly watched or under attended to. Not only did I get the blissful home water birth I desired, but she knew exactly how to handle the blood loss that occurred after and was fully stocked and prepared with fluids, medications and a calm demeanor the entire time. She makes sure to always ask before she touches you, your belly, or your baby and her respectful approach in which consent is always made a priority made me forever feel safe with her. We interviewed a few midwives before we found Aleks - and when we spoke with her we knew right away that she was the one for us. She is so nurturing and honest. She has so much wisdom so share, and she really listens and cares. I had an incredible home birth with my first baby. Not only was she there for me, but also my husband as well. He felt comforted knowing he had someone on his side who really cared for him throughout the whole journey as well. With my following two pregnancies I experienced losses at varying degrees and Aleks was there for me throughout the whole process. I'm now pregnant again and am so excited for this birth knowing Aleks is along side us again. I'm writing this review with deep sadness and concern in hopes of protecting other expectant mothers from the emotional and ethical harm I endured while under the care of Aleksandra Evanguelidi at Sacred Center Midwifery. As a first-time mother, I placed immense trust in Aleksandra's experience as a midwife. What I encountered instead was a pattern of inappropriate behavior, medical pressure, and manipulation that caused me extreme emotional distress during the most vulnerable time of my life. Aleksandra frequently crossed personal boundaries under the guise of "preparing me for a safe home birth." She questioned my relationship with my partner, asked deeply invasive and sexual questions (including whether I "like to swallow"), and advised me to practice "cock worship" and "get as much semen inside and on me as possible." She also criticized my close bond with my mother--who I wanted at my birth--calling it "codependent" and urging me to exclude her. Despite knowing I was also receiving checkups and ultrasounds through my insurance at Kaiser, she routinely deflected responsibilities she was licensed to perform herself. She pushed for medical interventions I clearly declined, including a foley balloon and active management of hemorrhage, using fear-based language like "you could die" if I didn't comply. She even discouraged me from using castor oil (which later helped start my labor) and prescribed Chinese musk for hemorrhoids--something my Chinese medicine doctor warned me not to use due to hormonal risks in pregnancy. She pressured me to delay my induction so she could avoid scheduling conflicts with other clients, and when I neared 42 weeks (the legal cutoff for home birth), I asked her to transfer my care. She refused. Worse, she told other midwives a misleading story about me that sabotaged my chances of finding a backup. After being denied a refund or proper transfer of care, I had to pay $5,000 out of pocket to a new midwife with only 48 hours to spare. I went into labor within 24 hours of switching. I have since filed a formal complaint with the California Medical Board. Despite multiple efforts to resolve this matter directly, Aleksandra has not returned any portion of the $9,500 I paid for care I did not receive. My birth experience could have been beautiful. Instead, it became traumatic. Please take caution before trusting your pregnancy and emotional well-being to this provider. read more

Navigating pregnancy, healthcare, and all the micro decisions that come along with it during such an exciting and sometimes overwhelming season of life was made to feel supported and guided because of Aleks. We always felt like there was an abundance of time and space for all of our questions and concerns. We were able to feel as prepared as we ever would, and feel present and rested into the beauty of the process. Our son was born at home, and I was transferred to the hospital for blood loss after his birth. Aleks was an absolute rockstar. In hindsight, I can't believe how calm the situation felt. Aleks is an amazing midwife, who supported me through the birth of my son who was born with Down's syndrome and medical complexities, requiring a number of surgeries in the first year of his life. Aleks carries herself with humor, joy, grace and reverence for the holy work of bringing new lives into the world. Aleks is literally in LOVE with all the magic of babies and their moms and the birth process, and it's such a blessing to have someone like this in the room with you during such a fulsome time-- someone who's so genuinely excited to be on your pregnancy journey with you. After my child's birth, she was always fully present, mindful, and compassionate towards us and the circumstances our new family was adjusting to, and offered us all so much support. I had a home birth, but needed to take my son to CHLA shortly afterwards for medical intervention. She came with us and stayed till we were settled, and continued to check in the days, weeks and months that followed, and we are still close to this day, 15 years later!! Our home birth was super smooth, an inflatable water birth tub was filled in my bedroom, making my Korea town apartment feel like a place of reverence and bliss -- nothing quite like the relief of laboring in a giant warm pool. Alex kept tabs on me the whole time, supported the birth plan that we had created for ourselves, and even cooked us a giant pot of yummy soup, and prepared my placenta afterwards -- which helped with post partum depression. Aleks was the best decision we made on our journey to parenthood. After struggling to conceive for over three years, we were fortunate to become pregnant via IVF. When my girlfriend became pregnant, she immediately researched the top midwives in the Los Angeles area. Of the many that we reviewed, Aleks was the one who responded almost immediately and with the most care. She walked my girlfriend through the process of midwifery over the phone and the options that would be available to her. This small act of taking the time to answer all the questions my girlfriend had-before any agreements were finalized-was a great first impression. It put my girlfriend's mind at ease. She knew, even before we met her, that Aleks would be our midwife. When we finally met Aleks and her partner, Meaghan Snider, in person at their beautiful office in Calabasas, we knew we were going to be taken care of. We (obviously) researched everything we could about the journey of pregnancy in advance, and Aleks was there to confirm or debunk our knowledge. One of the great things about Aleks is how she stays on top of all the current trends in midwifery and weighs them against her own experience (which she has a lot of!). Additionally, if there is something she doesn't know, she's passionate about finding out and continuing to build her network of caring individuals who love their jobs as much as she does. I'm the kind of guy who likes logic and facts. I like having all the information in front of me to make an informed decision because I'm also an idealist in many things. Obviously, when it came to the care of my child, I wasn't going to "phone it in." There were times I would push Aleks for specific answers to my questions or ask her to explain something a different way so I could understand it. She never shirked away from a debate or a discussion, and I always appreciated that. She was also honest with me in ways no one else has been before, and that meant a lot to me. But really, this is all just a preamble leading up to the big day: Delivery. When my girlfriend's water broke on a late Monday evening, I called Aleks and told her the situation. Usually, midwives don't show up until it's time to deliver. However, my girlfriend wanted Aleks there immediately because she felt it may be soon, and both Aleks and Meaghan obliged. Keep in mind that they didn't have to do that. Aleks could have easily said, "In my experience, this is a very long process, try and rest, call a doula, etc." Instead, both Aleks and Meaghan shifted their schedules and drove down to our house because she wanted to put my girlfriend's mind at ease-which was the right move because she ended up delivering almost immediately after Aleks arrived! I felt as though I found my person...Aleks is simply put, incredible. I had always wanted to have baby and well then, life happens.. and before I l knew it, I was 41 and at what they call at "advanced maternal age" to try and get pregnant. We searched and read and spoke with so many people, midwives and doulas... and Aleks kept coming up and standing out. We met, and I instantly knew she was "The One." Game over and I was done looking. I had wanted a home birth my whole life and lacked the support around that, and Aleks was able to fill that void and step in to my world of, "everything is possible," including having a baby in my early 40s . I was referred to Aleks at Sacred Center Midwifery by another midwife; from the moment we had our initial conversation on the phone, I knew she was "the one". I had experienced a traumatic emergency transfer with my first homebirth; because of that, I knew that the midwife I chose to work with for my next birth had to be experienced, wise, level-headed, respectful of my autonomy, and be able to put together a safe plan with my husband and I for my next homebirth. Both Aleks and her assistant Megan were a literal god send to me. The pregnancy care I received prior to giving birth was so special; each visit was open ended and could last for over an hour; we spoke about my emotional and mental and spiritual well being, beyond just feeling my belly and weighing me. She helped me verbalize and envision how I wanted my next birth to unfold and we pieced together a plan to bring that vision to life, while also respecting the fact that I truly didn't have control, and making peace with the idea I may still need to transfer. In the end, I birthed my baby standing up in my shower; she came out perfect and healthy and I got to crawl into bed and stay home in my perfect little birthing bubble we created. She was my ultimate cheerleader, advocate, teacher, and healer through both of my pregnancies and was always willing and able to meet me where I was with testing and tandem care when I wanted it. Aleks was my angel of a midwife for both of my babies born at home. From a surprise/early pool set up to a very fast birth in the bathtub, she was a calming, supportive, and insanely knowledgeable presence. The care I received before and after the births was beyond anything I could have ever hoped for with a traditional doctor/hospital. I did not even know until years after my first birth, that there was any problem. When Aleks gave the baby a "little kiss" and serenely suggested he use the oxygen tank, I thought it all just part of protocol. In fact, she was giving him a bit of mouth to mouth, and oxygen because he wasn't breathing well! I had absolutely no idea, due to her insanely calm and nurturing demeanor. The amount of adjectives I could use to describe her are plentiful. Suffice it to say, she is a powerhouse; loving and peaceful, steeped in wisdom, knowledge and the incredible magic of childbirth. Simply put, and without exaggeration, Aleks is a superhero. Days away from my due date in 2021, I came down with the flu, and my original midwife team (who had done all my prenatal care) ditched me. I was told homebirth was no longer an option, because this flu "would put myself, my baby, and the midwives at risk." Not wanting a hospital birth (I had done that reluctantly with my first), I started reaching out to other homebirthing mamas for advice. One friend sent Aleks' phone number and recommended I contact her immediately. Aleks spoke to me on the phone with calm compassion. Her energy put me at ease. She was available and unafraid. She showed up to support me with full heart and soul, and a world of expertise. I felt safe and in complete trust the entire time. My labor was long and mostly passive, but Aleks was accepting of that - despite the fact that a more active labor would have progressed faster.
