Our neighborhood was hit by a hailstorm in May with baseball size hail. Because I don't do business with companies that solicit door-to-door, I hit Yelp and saw all the fabulous reviews about Alex and his company. His crew came out and replaced the roof and vents in one day. His other crew came to replace all the gutters and downspouts. They even hung a new gutter/spout by the front door entrance and told me it would be no charge. Alex also personally replaced our hail-damaged screens. Now for the icing on the cake. Because we chose impact resistant shingles we are eligible for a significant reduction in our homeowners insurance. Alex took care of all the paperwork and communicated directly with our insurance company to make that happen. THAT is customer service and blew me away when he told me he would do that. I had a great experience with them and found them to have very good pricing. The owner, Alex, went the extra mile for me. He gave me a price quote before the work was started and it is exactly what I paid him when the work was complete. Alex was always available by phone as well, before and during the job. He was on premises at least half of the time the roof was going up and managed his crew very well. Alex is very friendly and attentive and addressed all my questions and concerns. He recommended good shingles and a good roof color to match the paint on my house. Alex personally patched up several areas on my roof where rodents could possibly get into the attic. First roofer we contacted wanted $700 to replace one vent, an estimate he formulated without climbing a ladder. Alex gave us an estimate only after actually getting on the roof, taking pictures, and explaining exactly what we needed done. Turns out we needed to replace 5 vents and 7 pipes, and the estimate was only a little more than the other guy wanted to charge for the one vent. Day of, he arrived early, worked quickly, and texted pictures of the finished work to us before climbing down. We are very happy with our choice to contact Alex and seek another estimate. Recently my wife and I decided we would like a car port to keep the vehicles out of the elements. We contacted Alex Chavez to come out and give us an estimate and some ideas. Alex came up with some wonderful ideas and said he could start in a week and would be finished in 5 days. He was out 2 days later to measure and lay out the area. After discovering that the source of some ugly brown spots that showed up on our ceiling after the last big rain was more than just a damaged shingle (and more than we could handle ourselves), we called Alex. He actually answered his phone, and was very responsive from the get-go. Considering that we live in Wimberley, and many service people behave as if they don't really need your business out here (even the ones who are based here -- go figure), this was an encouraging start. He met with us right away, answered all of our questions, and had everything handy that he needed to make us feel confident that he had his bases covered and would do good work. They had one more job to finish before starting our roof, and there was rain forecast for the weekend, so timing was important here. The crew showed up bright and early on Friday morning, and put in a full days work, but were unable to finish our 2000 sq. ft. house with several areas of rotten decking in one day. They were back again, equally bright and early, on Saturday morning -- and this is where they really impressed me. It was cold and drizzly, and it was Saturday, and they stayed out in it, giving it their best. They didn't leave until we had a solid (and attractive) roof over our heads, even though it was getting dark by then. They came back on Monday to finish up a few odds and ends and to clean up. There were no surprises when we got our invoice, either. I've never had a better experience with a home improvement or repair project that I've hired out in my 20+ years of home ownership.
