Stayed at the Alexandra Barcelona Hotel on a recent visit to Barcelona. The hotel itself is what I would call "boutiquey" - the rooms are small and the king bed is 2 twins pushed together. I don't feel that the hotel is business traveler friendly based on my experience. The WiFi was horrible. It consistently dropped and my zoom sessions kept warning me that my connection was unstable - even without a VPN. The fitness center is only available from 7a - 10p. For me, 7a - 10p were my working hours. I needed to work out at 5a to get anything in. I ended up purchasing a week pass at a nearby gym which was frustrating. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. Really just with the accommodations (WiFi and fitness center) were more dependable. Aside from The challenges, nice hotel otherwise. If you're looking to relax or simply touristy stuff - this would be a good property for you. read more

A quaint boutique hotel, that's associated with Hilton Honors just steps off of La Rambla in Barcelona Spain. This was a fantastic location in which to start our tour of the city. The hotel isn't large but has a terrace bar for enjoying afternoon cocktails or dinner along side a small pool that's just deep enough to cool off and relax by. They served a delicious breakfast buffet in the morning and a really cool charcuterie in their bar area that started in the afternoon. I felt the staff was super friendly and accommodating, which made our visit even better. read more

Hotel was nice and the location is hard to beat. Right off La Rambla, it's super convenient to find restaurants and shops. It's also a short walk to the Gaudi apartments. Check-in was easy and the room was simple but nice. It wasn't super fancy but was efficient and clean. The second floor was where breakfast was. Continental but some deli meats and cheese. Coffee, tea, and juice options. It's a Hilton, so you'll get points or can use points. read more

The location is perfect for walking around. The rooms are incredibly tiny. A nice pool lounge area, we enjoyed a few tapas there. They give you one bottle of water at check in and expect you to pay for any additional. A little attitude at the bar, we only ate and didn't drink. They still use the mini shampoos, very wasteful. Location is the best part of this hotel as they are so close in walking distance to high-end shopping, fabulous sightseeing, and terrific restaurants. The hotel is nice but very basic in decor inside the guest rooms. They could use an area rug on the floor to make it more noise calming. The bathrooms are good in size, and the shower was one of the best hot showers I can ever remember. The common areas are nicely decorated. The patio/pool area is a beautiful place to sit and have a glass of wine or a dip on the pool. I will say that the pool rules are posted saying no smoking on the pool area, but it seemed like everyone came to the pool area to smoke. The breakfast was good and fresh but nothing extravagant. Great place to have a quick breakfast before heading out to be a tourist on the town. I stayed here after a cruise and noticed that many of their guests were doing the same or they were headed out to the cruiseport. This is a lovely little boutique property in the Eixample district near Passieg de Gracie. This is less than 10 minutes via metro from Barcelona-Santa station or a 30 minute walk. Access to Metro 1-5 stations are all nearby. Bikes. Scooters. Taxis and buses are all easily accessible transportation as well. Getting a car would be expensive and complicated in a city that values most any other mode of transportation but a car. We walked a lot and found this to be very convenient. We visited in summer 2021 just after Spain opened It's borders to US tourists and travelers from around the world. We were among the few English speaking tourists anywhere we went. The hotel is five stories with unique boutique type rooms. Ours had a large terrace three stories about the street. We had a lovely view of the neighborhood which was busy until 1am most nights. The restaurant, Solomillo offered a fine dining, bar and street cafe experience depending on your taste and pocketbook. There was a small shallow pool with plenty of space to Lounge and sun until early Evening when it is transformed Into outdoors dining area. The breakfast area was in a Separate space and well Done. The food options were fresh and healthy and lots of coffee. Haha Our Room was very spacious, lived the special jetted shower and the in room espresso machine. The front desk was well staffed and efficient. They held our bags, booked us a tour and gave lots of advice when asked. There was a doorman for the weekends and adequate elevator/stair access. We stayed in two which is the Hilton honors floor and used the stairs to save on elevator wait times. The hotel seemed moderately busy and they mentioned that more and more tourists were coming to BCN. We expected this to be our most favorite hotel on this trip but alas it was not But it was lovely. Lots of shopping. High-end everywhere. We would easily recommend this location to anyone looking for a special boutique experience in Barcelona. read more

So I'm a huge Hilton fan, and the Curio hotels I've stayed in have always been wonderful, but this little gem was delightful. Not because of the room... it was nice. Smaller than US hotels, but it was quiet and comfortable for sure. The mattress was a little more firm than I like, but I slept well. The free breakfast (for diamond members) was good. Not great, it good. The lighting was a little dark, but overall the rooms were a solid 4 stars. What made this hotel delightful was the staff. The housekeeping was spot in, the wait staff was pleasant, and the room service was really good. The downside... the pool was ice cold. And not just your. Penal ice cold... attic cold. What stood out was the help of the front desk team. Ester in particular. She called us by name each time we entered/exited the hotel, helped us with dinner reservations, advised us on what to see while we were on holiday, and went above and beyond helping us find a poster for the Mercè festival that took place while we were in town. Everywhere we looked was out, but Ester found one outside of town and gave us directions on how to get it.... And guess what, we found one. Her level of customer service should become the standard for all hotels going forward. Any hotel would be lucky to have her be the first interaction they have with guests. Ten stars no question When I return to Barcelona, I hope to find her smiling face greet me again at this lovely hotel. read more

The location of this property is fantastic. It's in walking distance to a lot of tourist attractions. The pool area is really cute for relaxing. I'm so surprised to read so many good reviews of this horrible hotel. Hilton should be alarmed. We checked in for two nights and got "upgraded" to a room with two twin beds shoved together to make a king. The most minimal furniture including a wobbly desk that is older than I am. The main issue is our room REAKS of horrible horrible mold!! The smell was coming from the bathroom. We alerted staff and they sent maintenance to spray some solution in toilet, down drains and shower. They said it was fine. It still smelled horribly so they came again and sprayed. Now they claim there's no smell. Fake news. No one can miss this wet damp moldy smell. The issue is there's no vents in the bathrooms so when showering the wall literally leaks water out of its walls. Now they wish to downgrade us to another room , mind you we are diamond members on our last leg of our honeymoon. No thank you. HUGE issues , not good for your health to be staying in such rooms. One of the main reasons we booked this Hilton was because of the pool, well the pool was closed during our stay because a company rented it out all day to host an event.... How can this be?!? Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere!!!! No such care of diamond member status or customer service skills. read more

We stayed here for three nights before getting on a cruise, and I selected the Alexandra for location and price. We arrived pretty late after traveling for 22 hours and were greeted warmly and quickly - up in our room inside of ten minutes. The staff during our entire stay was truly nice and top notch. We booked a king room, which for *European standards*, was pretty spacious with a nice large bathroom. The room was clean, comfortable and sleep quality great. I run pretty hot, so I was pleasantly surprised that I could cool down the room adequately given many hotels govern the HVAC systems during different seasons. The location was fantastic and we could walk to almost anywhere that we were not getting to via a Hop On/Off Bus pass we had for two days. There were tons of restaurants, shopping and coffee shops within half a mile of the hotel, many of the big sites to see in Barcelona were within an easy 1.5 mile walking radius. We had breakfast one morning in the restaurant which was buffet style and quite good. Another evening we had dinner in their restaurant Solomillo which was excellent. The only two negatives were -- housekeeping did not refresh in the in-room coffee each day (I hate that) and the shower was kind of weird with the shower head coming from the wall not working, so you had to remove this side shower head to rinse off and shower. read more

I was a little cautious as some of the reviews weren't kind, but as a Diamond member I get too many perks to stay somewhere else. This hotel did far better than expected in my experience. It's a trendy, boutique style hotel which utilized the space it's given really well. Right in the middle of shops and a 15ish minute walk to pretty much anything (like the Plaça Catalunya). Attached restaurant upstairs and the actual hotel restaurant where breakfast is served is one level up from the lobby. Patio terrace on 1st with pool as well as a small fitness center around from the elevators. Service wise, I found the front desk people to be warm and helpful. They have a Hilton honors floor with a dark paneling and bright lights that makes you feel a bit like you're in a strangely lit cave, but that's more of an observation than critique. They upgraded as allowed from a queen superior to a king room with a small balcony. Pillows were crap, but the room was really nice with a huge bed and nice bathroom. Diamond members get free continental breakfast in the hotel restaurant, which can mean different things depending where you are in the world. Breakfast here was delicious, diverse, and filling. No complaints. Don't know what the cost is if you're not Diamond unfortunately. The public printer ran out of ink as I was printing my boarding passes and they were quick to help. Sent them the PDFs and they had them printed for me the second they hit their inbox. Definitely a good experience here and would stay again whenever I can make it back to Barcelona. read more

I also booked on points thanks to a lot of nights in Hilton hotel properties and we were treated very well by every single person on staff. we stopped at the front desk a few times for restaurant/shopping and sightseeing suggestions, to hail a cab, etc. and every time was a very good experience very centrally located with high-end shopping 1/2 block away and a ton of great restaurants within walking distance the room was fine. seemed clean if a little dated. there weren't enough toiletries in the room when we arrived, that that was easily remedied next time we stopped at the desk minor nit: the rooftop pool could use some updating. it's not as inviting as you might expect from the photos we didn't have time to try the beautiful restaurant, but had we more time we would have for sure I definitely recommend this hotel and would likely re-book next time we're in Barcelona read more

Location is everything when staying at Alexandra Hotel. Its a beautiful Hilton/Curio property. Truly attentive staff, ready to take care of everything you need. Rooms really start on the 3rd floor. 1st floor is lobby/bar. 2nd floor is a restaurant. 3rd floor is their "1st floor". Rooms are beautiful, modern, and so nicely put together. Modern yet feels welcoming. The shower does have the best water pressure in all barcelona, its the little things. Lol. Wish i could of stayed longer, however will be coming back for sure. Average Star Hotel but location. I'll do a positive and negatives below: Positives: 1. Absolutely perfect location near downtown area with access to train , restaurants, and shopping. 2. Walk left exiting hotel and all luxury shopping is available from Gucci, LV, you name it ! 3. Walk right and are many restaurants and typical shopping places you would see in a mall 4. Breakfast is pretty good and buffet style , very clean $18 a day unless your gold or diamond 5. Staff speaks English and pretty good customer service. 6. Parking garage available for those renting cars. 7. Bar is and restaurant is pretty good if you are big on Ham or Steak Negatives: 1. Walls are paper thin, so bad it almost sounds like somebody is in your room especially in the mornings 2. WIFI is pretty slow even with "premium" coverage as diamond member. Barely can watch a YouTube video slow. 3. Rooms are very very basic, absolutely nothing special to show and speak on. It's marketed as a boutique but it's just small and basic. I love this place. Pandemic no demic... it's always fabulosa! Great service! Great location! You can't go wrong! I can't stress enough how helpful , reassuring, and wonderful the service was here! The front desk was amazing. Juanjo was so nice and helpful! This past weekend has been challenging for Spain and all of Europe. Everybody working at this hotel stepped up to the task and took care of their clients. I've stayed here many times for many years and I'm really impressed with how pleasant they made our stay in the midst of the chaos that is consuming the world right now. Alex, the bartender, was also outstanding. I enjoyed talking with him and all the other guests at the bar. Spain closed all their restaurants but allowed hotels to keep their bars open for clients. With all the flight cancellations and uncertainty there was never a better time to sit at the bar for hours and drink vermouth and red wine and chat with Alex and the few other hotel guests that were all in the same boat. I like to stay at Hilton Hotels for their style, service, and cleanliness. The Alexandra Barcelona Hilton is not up to the standards of a Hilton hotel. It's very tired. The carpet in front of our room had a large stain. Inside, the room was simple but you couldn't adjust the temperature on the thermostat. It was set on heat, so you had to open the window to cool the room down. My room was on the street side so it was very noisy. This hotel didn't have a concierge. What Hilton doesn't have a concierge? Since this was my first time in Barcelona, a concierge would be extremely beneficial. This is a subpar Hilton Hotel. read more

Pros: Location Free Breakfast Cons: My Father in Law is Diamond for Life with Hilton and booked the room with points. Diamond for Life requires 15 consecutive years of Diamond status, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars over this time. Because he used points, they gave him poorer quality rooms for them and us. When he complained, the JERK at the front desk reminded him the room was on points. Needless to say, he will be getting a refund of his points due to the rudeness of the staff. I can't say enough how awful the front desk staff is. Our room had strange people knocking on the door at 3 in the morning, was next to the elevator, and you can hear every door open and close. Service in bar area was non-existent. They closed pool an hour early and refused to let us use it. Asked them to fix fridge and they never did. I've stayed in multiple Hilton properties, the rude and poorly trained staff, especially at a Curio property, that is just stealing from loyal Hilton customers. Not a 4 star hotel. I have stayed over 1,000 nights in hotels in the last five years. This was the worst night of all of these. First off, the positives. The bar/restaurant was really good. Nice wine, great but limited food offerings and a nice bartender who knows how to give a nice pour and good recommendations of local wines. Also great was the location near the best stores and shopping, great cafes and other places to eat and drink. And an easy walk to many of the best tourist attractions. All in all, this is a great place to stay unless you have some intention of sleeping. You won't. We checked in early to mid November after a seven hour wait and two hours past their guaranteed check in time. No apology, just an inaccurate explanation. When we got to the room it was very hot and so we put the air conditioner on and it seemed to get hotter. We called down and they explained that the air conditioning system had been turned off for the season and that the only thing they could suggest us that we turn off the system which would be supplying more head and open the window to cool it off! It didn't seem to get cooler quickly and so we went for a walk. We called down and asked if it was safe to leave the window opened and we were told no. We asked again if there was anything which could be done, explained that the temperature was unbearable but were told that the air conditioning was turned off until summer. We got back from the walk, opened the window and it was still not. I called down and saiid we would be unable to sleep snd were told many other people had the same problem but that they choose to go out for a late dinner and drinks. The noise through the window was Extremely loud. Barcelona is a fun active city late at night if you don't have an early flight! We took off our clothes and tried to get some rest despite the heat and noise. A little after midnight there was a knock at the door. I asked who it was and he said he had been sent up because of our complaint. I asked him if he could do anything about it and he said he could open the window but I told him that I had already done so and thanked him for coming by. The uncomfortable mattress served to give us something else to talk about instead of the heat and noise during the night. At checkout I was asked how our stay was. I explained that the hotel was so hot as to be uninhabitable and that we couldn't sleep. He thanked me, handed me a copy of the invoice and we were on our way! read more

Wow- just realized I am really behind on some of my reviews. I stayed at the Alexandra last summer and had a very pleasant stay here. The location is great and the hotel has a nice, modern look to it. The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The rooms are a little small (but that is not shocking for an older European city). Overall we were very comfortable in our room and had a good nights sleep there. There is an outdoor pool in the back which we did not get to try but looked like a relaxing spot for a hot day. Additionally, they have a small restaurant in the lobby that expands out to the poolside area during the evening time (but, again, we never tried it so I can't really review it, but the menu looked good). read more

Kinda looked like an office. But central safe location to Main Street of shopping and eating, very safe and lots of locals. Good bellboy service, helped with bags n called a minivan for our large stuff, so bonus tips for that. When we checked in, nice touch with the warm chocolate chip cookie. Check in: fast and easy. All guests need to present their passports. This is standard in all hotels. I asked for an upgraded room and we were given a king bed corner room on the 5th floor. Lastly, we received hotel info, breakfast vouchers, and the expected doubletree cookie. The room: we were in room 521, which had great views of the city. The bed was huge and so comfortable!! Everything is updated with new fixtures, convenient outlets and wood flooring. Our bathroom had a whirlpool tub with jets. I do wish there was a step to get in and out of the tub ( which was also the shower). The windows open and provided a nice cool breeze at night. Breakfast: amazing. Meats, cheeses, eggs, bread, the tomato spread which I fell in love with, fresh squeezed orange juice, nespresso machine, the works. There's also sweet breakfast options like pastries and croissants. Fresh fruit is also much appreciated. Service: we needed some recommendations, and the front desk was happy to oblige. We were also able to use the guest computers to print our tickets to tours. Location: can't be beat. You're right in the middle of all the amazing shopping! Halfway to the beach and touristy areas, and halfway to the north (more local vibe). Good location, keep in mind this is in the heart of the city and comes with a certain level of street noise. The noise doesn't go long into the night so it wasn't a significant issue. The service is good and everyone we interacted with was pleasant and knowledgeable. The staff had a great command of English so this was very helpful. The room was nice, bed was very comfortable and the bathroom and shower were great. Breakfast was included if you're an Honors member. The breakfast was great and I loved the jamon Iberico, actually some of the best I had in Spain. Tip: request a room away from the 'office' this is where the staff starts their day and store their supplies so there is a lot of activity in the morning. read more

We were walking distance to La Rambla and even some of the city's best Tapas Bar around. We felt safe walking in the area at night after 1am and never felt concerned at all especially with the police presence. This is a charming hotel in an ideal location. It's only a few blocks from several of Gaudi's beautiful homes. It's surrounded by shops, restaurants, spas, etc. The room was cozy and charming. It felt modern, yet still warm and welcoming. It had beautiful Spanish tile accents on the floor and a balcony that was excellent for people-watching. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The outdoor patio was a beautiful, tranquil retreat with a bar and a small pool. There is a restaurant on the property that looked nice, but there are so many places to eat in the area, I never ate at the hotel. I'd definitely recommend this place for a single traveler or couple interested in visiting the attractions in center city. read more

The worst experience in my entire travel history.Unbelievable rude and unprofessional receptionist names Aldo Peckera.Me and my sister arrived to Alexandra at 11 p.m ,reservation was made by my sister husband who is diamond member of Hilton .She identified that reservation made under her husbands name .Receptionist checked us in and we went to room to sleep after a long day of traveling.At 2:30 a.m Aldo knocked on our door and said "Open the room now ,u are staying here illegally using someone's name .If u don't get out now we will call the police.Me and my sister went downstairs and even crazier thing began .We tried showing prove of reservation,but Aldo said:"What are u showing me ,this is just photo of Barcelona."My sister husband called hotel and receptionist response was "We already called the police . We was shocked with the way they treated us ,we insisted them to check number of reservation and they found it in their system right away . Receptionist received call from Hilton New Your after my sister husband complain ,and on the phone in front on us they starts to lie that guests failed to identify that we are checking under my sisters husband name .No apologize was provided . This is my last night of a 5 night stay at this hotel. I was looking for a Hilton hotel in wanted to stay in Eixample being in town for a conference at Fira. The staff has all been amazing, allowing me a morning check in,assistant with taxis and restaurant recommendations. I have reached out to Javier at the front desk on a number of evenings for suggestions on where to dine and he has not steered me wrong. On my 2nd night I had a problem with my Room which was taken care of in the morning By placing me in a even nicer Room. There were 2 women at the front desk that I am sorry I don't know their names who were very responsive and thoughtful. The Room offers all the amenities you look for in a Hilton. I will say I find the bed a bit too hard however the location Of this hotel is absolutely perfect if you're looking to have many restaurants insights to walk to . The Alexandra's location is perfection! Walking distance to one of the cities best Tapas. And walking I mean not even a block away. Also, right on the corner of all the luxury shopping boutiques. We received an upgraded room due to our Hilton honors status. Room was pretty nice with a cute view of the court yard. The room could have used a fresh coat of paint and a little TLC but it was still nice. Our first night we noticed upon entering the room that our safe was stuck open (not reset). Concierge was not able to have the safe reset till the next day due to "the guy not being there." We had to give important documents and laptops (items we typically put in the safe), to the concierge that evening while we went out. Not super inconvenient but still not the best when we had to give them our belongings twice. Which also required us to wait for a ticket to be written up of the belongings we are giving them to hold for us. Our first morning we were awoken to a breakfast meeting/party outside our window in the court yard. This was around 9:00am. Which typically isn't too early but when you are jet lagged 9:00a can seem like 5:00am. This "breakfast" lasted till about 12:00p. WIFI is horrible! It took me almost 5 minutes to load 1 email. If you need to get work done, Starbucks down the road has better wifi. All in all I would stay here again for the convenience of the location and the cost per night being a very reasonable $170 per night. read more

I'm a little late posting the review - so forgive me! We stayed for two nights in February of 2022. Upon our arrival, our host, Bruno, welcomed us and made sure we had everything - and more - that we needed. We needed some assistance with the room and he was THERE in moments. He offered suggestions on sightseeing. Also, hidden away in the hotel is a little courtyard that we fully enjoyed with a bit of wine after a long day of travel. Esther, also at the front desk was also very helpful, giving us suggestions and getting us a taxi. The hotel breakfast was spectacular - very high quality and everything you'd want (hot foods, baked goods, coffee and tea). We would definitely stay here again. read more

Stayed at the Doubletree Hotel by Hilton Alexandra Barcelona hotel about 3cyears ago. It is a wonderful hotel, near the luxury shops of L' Exaimple, and within walking distance, Metro or a short bus ride away from all the major tourist attractions. It has a lovely garden and a pool, and the rooms are well appointed and spacious. The staff is delightful, and multilingual. It is a boutique hotel under the Hilton hotel label. I've never given a hotel 5 stars, however this one deserves it. I stayed here for 4 nights for $100 euro per night, which is an amazing deal. Centrally located on La Rambla, Alexandra is the perfect place for any tourist in Barcelona to stay. The staff is very nice, the rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable, the internet is free, the breakfast is perfect -oh, and you get hilton points and a cookie when checking in. Furthermore, the metro is just a block or two away. This hotel is again on La Rambla, in walking distance to the Mediterranean Sea, in walking distance to the open air market, and in walking distance to La Sagrada Familia. It's unfathomable to me why anyone would stay anywhere else. read more
