Pool to ourselves in the early evening
    Andrea R.

There are so many amazing hotels to choose from in Barcelona, but we are a Marriott family so went with the Hotel Arts while visiting this past week. We spent our first 3 nights here before heading to San Sebastián and then the last night of the trip before heading back to reality. The location is along the shore. My husband mentioned he would prefer something closer to the city center so we spent a lot of time in cabs, but have a feeling we would have done that anyway since Barcelona is pretty spread out. We also walked/ran along the shore daily and loved having that beach view just right outside our hotel. The service was top notch and the hotel very much reminded me of what I've experienced at most Ritz Carltons. I think this is basically the Ritz of Barcelona. Everyone from the check-in desk to the concierge to the restaurants to the spa could not have been friendlier and more attentive. By the end of our trip we had enjoyed the bar (big fan of their raw salmon tapas), bite restaurant (avocado toast was delicious), the spa (love the private water room before the massage), hair salon (most expensive blowout ever) and lovely pool. We were traveling sans kids so the pool area was perfect for us, but think it would be a little small for my children. Our only annoyance was when trying to get a cab to dinner one night. There was a lack of cabs due to a holiday weekend + Mother's Day (Spain apparently celebrated a week earlier than the States). They weren't that helpful at the front helping us to secure a cab and was surprised they weren't able to somehow call one, but seems like Ubers and other similar services aren't as popular in Barcelona. Finally we gave up on our dinner reservation and had a lovely evening in the bar, but was still a bummer. I would definitely stay here again if traveling by myself or with other adults. I may explore more kid friendly options if I brought the kids to Barcelona, but the entire experience was as perfect as can be.

We chose this venue for a company meeting with approximately 150 of and made use of the main and adjacent conference rooms, the restaurant, and the grounds. It was a fantastic selection. Everything from the coffee in hot carafes outside of the conference rooms to the audio/media setup was flawlessly executed. The food was delicious and served rapidly. In this pristine, clean, well appointed environment we got down to our business. Sadly, I had little opportunity to enjoy much else but from my beautiful hotel room I could see the beach; maybe next time!

Beautifully done property and very well maintained and managed. Lots of food options and extremely central to everything. Loved it and the service. Great stay! Beautiful city.

Hotel Arts Barcelona is a nice, luxurious hotel to stay during our visit to Barcelona...and just a nice intro to all the wonderful architectures Barcelona has to offer. We had a nice, high level corner room that had a view of a harbor and the view was beautiful. Up on the top floor, the lounge also had access to food/drinks to relax into the evening/night as well. What I loved about the hotel was its location. It's located along the Olympic Village and accessible via subway (~5 min walk from the olympic village subway station. You can take T1/2 bus from the airport and transfer to subway at the last airport shuttle stop, too) or for a nice walk along the beach. Or if you don't feel like walking, taxi is always available from the hotel. We had a chance to take a nice, long stroll along the beach and eventually into La Ramblas and into La Boqueria market one afternoon and I really enjoyed the walk. It was a nice way to see the city than just taking a taxi/underground for sure. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The highlight for the room was also the awesome highly pressurised showers from 4 sides of the shower...very relaxing! A few things though were that...perhaps the check in area was a bit small...so they tend to have a wait around that area to check in/out, get some help like breaking down cash into smaller bills, etc and that I could hear some people outside pretty well at times (so I wondered what the noise insulation quality was too). Else, if you are in for a splurge at a luxurious, beautiful hotel, give this place a shot. You will love coming back to take a nice shower at the hotel after an adventurous day/sightseeing in Barcelona!

My heart is still there! I loved this city and I loved this hotel! From the moment I made reservations, they were "at my disposal" (a phrase they end every email with). Thorough, exceptional service from beginning to end. We were a big group and they (Enric) made spreadsheets for me to keep it all organized. No request was over-looked and every detail thought of. The property is well-kept and gorgeous. The food was delicious. The spa was wonderful. The rooms are spacious and the view is stunning. Until next time, Hotel Arts. Thank you for a wonderful, exceptional stay. (Below are pictures from the Marina restaurant by the pool).

This is a beautiful Ritz Carlton property located in Barcelona. It's right by the Mediterranean sea. Stayed here for a business trip for 5 days. Ideally you would want to get a room facing the sea. Lots of tourists in June! The receptionists and concierge were very hospitable. Few issues I faced: 1). it takes a bit of time to get checked in vs the speed in the US. So I was given a free cup of coffee during my wait. 2). My luggage took forever for it to make it to my room. I had to run down to check with the receptionist regarding this matter. The system froze so the bell man couldn't receive the alert. 3). My blow dryer was broken and it took them over 3 hrs to bring me a functional blow dryer. The restaurants on the premise are all amazing. I managed to dine at Bites (quick bites), Lokal (breakfast buffet), & Arola (Michelin Star). What I noticed about Barcelona is the food is so fresh and earthy. It makes food in general taste more commercialized in the US. Every bite I take makes me want to shed a tear of happiness. Overall: the room was clean and modern. The hotel staffs were extremely friendly. The view was phenomenal from the 41st floor. A good choice for vacation.

We stayed here three nights after our cruise on Envirma. There were some mix ups about transportation from our ship to the hotel, luckily I was up very early and had a ride arranged to the hotel that I was told my Ritz Carlton would be on them for the mix up. When I tipped the driver, he seemed dissatisfied with the 20 € and told me: "It's 10%!" My reply was: "Well give it back then because I didn't pay for this ride!" When we checked in it was all smiles. I was told because of our Gold status we were entitled to a room with a beautiful view of the ocean...but unless you're Superman and can can see through construction scaffolding and plastic tarps it isn't possible. I went to Yelp and immediately started reading the reviews, especially about theft at the hotel. I always carry my own portable safe and locked up all my valuables! Since we're from Las Vegas Nevada my first destination was for the Casino, but we were greeted with rude staff and decided to leave and just game at home. After securing our gambling cash back in our room and locking everything up we went to McDonalds just a couple blocks down the street off the beach. We ordered on the new keyosk but didn't see there was a stairwell in the middle of the room and fell halfway down before finally grabbing ahold of the railing injuring my hand and elbow as well as pulling a muscle in my leg. Broken injured and disgruntled from our voyage we left Barcelona like our ancestors did 500 years ago with no desire to ever return.

Every single staff member was friendly, the property is absolutely stunning and the food is delicious. They are constantly keeping everything clean and well maintained. The spa was a must see! The views from there were priceless. Overall we had a great time here and would return again.

People were hyping this hotel up a ton before I arrived. I expected a Ritz Carlton type stay but unfortunately it was more like the Best Western. The first room we checked into smelled like smoke even though we wanted nonsmoking. The 2nd room had a steel beam blocking our ocean view even though we paid for a panoramic view. Our bags didnt come to our room for hours. The positives is that the Gym is nice. The best way I can explain this hotel is that it is the worst "fancy" hotel I have been to. Another problem we had was that the room Keys randomly stop working.. happened to us twice. They also did not replenish our tea or any refreshments. The adult pools lining is missing tiles. It looks shambly here. Waste of money. No view from rooftop because you have some random piece of artwork in front of you. Other than the location this place was not what I thought. I would look for other hotels before coming back here especially at this price.

Not impressed with the overall hotel experience BUT the breakfast buffet is for sure 5/5! Beautiful and incredible service. Anything and everything you could ever want, they will make for you or likely have! Fresh meats, bacon, eggs, cheeses, spreads, fruit, waffles, assorted baked goods, omelet bar, dried fruits, yogurts- you name it! The hotel itself is very expensive, it's located further away from the main areas but not too far. It's also 20min from airport which is great and the bell hop will always help you get a taxi. The rooms are ok- my sheets were dirty when I arrived so I asked them to change it. We also didn't receive the upgrade we asked for per Amex. This caused a huge issue for us, as we anticipated an upgrade for such an expensive stay. We were also on the 7th floor and it was loud. You could hear the street and I hate that feeling. The rooms also had nats, little annoying bugs that grossed me out because that means something isn't clean in the room and I felt it was maybe the trash can since the bugs were only in the bathroom area that I could see...Gross! The pools although nice, 1 adult infinity pool and 1 main pool for families are small and unless you go down very early you will never get a chair. You'll need to sit in the grass...they do have a "wait list" but they never called and that was useless! The restaurant on premise is nice! But expensive. You also need to pay like 25$ a day for WIFI. Who does that? Annoying especially with how expensive this hotel is... Overall- the morning breakfast buffet is worth the stay- get it included with your stay otherwise it's about $50 per person I believe which is crazy expensive if you're not a big morning eater.

    Missing tiles and mold

I was so excited to stay in this hotel when I booked it. Upon arriving no one greeted me to take my luggage and I carried it to the front desk myself. I just thought "ok no big deal". Upon checking in, I was not offered champagne which is a Ritz Carlton standard. I thought maybe Spain or Hotel Arts is different. Again no big deal (I didn't come here for a free glass of champagne). We had planned a pool day on one of our 2 days here and were really excited for the infinity pool overlooking the Mediterranean. This was the biggest letdown. The pool tiles were missing in very large chunks all over the pool. In addition there was actual mold growing on the pool and rust on the railings. It was absolutely disgusting and we stayed for 5 minutes. We decided to go to the beach instead. I'm disappointed and would recommend people stay elsewhere next time.

My first trip to the Mediterranean started in Spain, and at this one hotel, which is a Ritz Carlton. It was a quick 30 minute taxi ride from the main airport. ATMOSPHERE: Of course the first thing that grabs your eye is the building itself. While it's just another ordinary-looking building, the exterior skeletal design makes it a little unique with its white beams that cover the building like a protective cage. The grounds are surrounded by cool and modern art work, as well as a casino which is separate from the hotel. Just across the street is the Port of Olimpia, chocked full of boats, restaurants, bars, and nightlife. FUN!!!! We had delish paella right on the water! There is a subway station near the hotel which we utilized frequently to explore the city. LOBBY: Simply, wow. Contemporary overload! Clean lines, dark woods, beautiful everything. ROOM: #2205 housed us for several nights before we jumped onto our cruise on the Med. The contemporary theme continues into the spacious standard room with a very comfy king bed. Accent lighting only adds to the upscale ambiance. The sweeping view is what gouges out your eyes. The picturesque port, coastline, and Balearic Sea goes on forever. The windows have a blue tint to them so getting true color pictures of the views was impossible, and unfortunately there are no balconies. Some of the exterior beams impeded our view which was a small disappointment. A cool feature were the automated window shades, controllable right from the bed. TV? Yeah, there was one, but I didn't watch 1 second of tube, especially when I'm on vacation in Europe!? BATHROOM: Can I take this home please? Gorgeous limestone adorns the floor and walls up to the ceiling. The dual basins are those bowls that sit up on the counter, one thing I don't care for because they're so impractical and splash everywhere. The shower had good pressure and quick drain, and separate soaking tub, just like you'd find in a Ritz. Naturally, all the amenities are available. The shampoo, conditioner and soaps were a bit perfumey, meh. Who cares right? We're in Barcelona!? SERVICE: Everyone was professional and welcoming. We were in need of a box to mail stuff home since we were about to board a cruise and didn't want to lug our purchases along for 2 weeks. We phoned the concierge, and they found us a copy paper box. I joked to my spouse that I bet the box will probably be small, as only in America is everything super sized. Low and behold, the Spanish copy paper box fits about 5 reams of 8.5 x 11 paper rather than 10. We laughed hysterically and just went with it. They delivered what we asked for! RESTAURANTS: When we travel, we always eat outside of the hotel as we'd rather experience the local food. TIP: Things open late in Spain. Some restaurants open at 10pm, perfect for us as we love to eat late. One of the clubs we went to opened at 2am. I was like WTF?! LOL. Tons of fun though! OVERALL: Beautiful digs and outrageous views.

Beautiful, well-appointed building, lobby sitting areas, restaurant, etc. Staff were friendly and very accommodating with bag storage, delivering bags to our room before we returned, restaurant recommendations and more. The rooftop is big with pool, bar and a number of seating areas for a 360 view of the city. Relaxing place to sit with a drink. Spa in basement is nice with all amenities. You have to reserve use and it's capped at 30 mins. Rooms are decent size allowing for suitcases and still moving around room. Bathroom is clean and has everything needed including heated towel rack and bidet. Although robes weren't included we found some at spa we used for the remainder of our trip. Lobby is very spacious and comfy, and there is live music in Thur-Sun. Great place to relax with a drink after exploring all day. Breakfast was extensive and a nice start to each day. Included made to order as well as plenty of ready made options for all palettes. The Not as Good We reserved both a superior and classic room but couldn't tell the difference for an additional 130 euros. The front desk said the superior had "more light." Potentially but not sure that was described as difference for what we paid. The rooms lack power outlets. Nothing by bedside. USB by desk but no USB-C or Int'l plugs. We had phones plugged in behind chairs, tea kettle sitting on floor, laptop in bathroom... The subway is underneath the hotel and even though we're on the 4th floor it was loud with lots of vibration. We had Do Not Disturb on for our entire trip but staff entered regardless and made up room. Not a big deal but surprised us and meant we had to put our belongings away every time we left not knowing who would enter when. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we would come back but many hotels we passed by looked like good options as well.

TLDR: Come for the rooftop views of Barcelona, not so much for the stay…read more While Barceló Raval's rooftop offers one of the best panoramic views of Barcelona, the hotel itself is giving knockoff of the W. They try to give off that sexy, mysterious vibe, but as soon as you step into the room, the green ceiling, cheap fixtures and damask wallpaper give it away. The hotel is reasonably "affordable" for its location (near the Gothic Quarter and La Barceloneta), but definitely in a sketchy area. I highly advise walking outside the hotel at night, as you'll find the rough crowds your parents warned you about. The nearest metro station is about a 10-minute walk, and to get there, you have to cut through some of the sketchiest alleys. I booked through Expedia and was upgraded to a room with a view, a bottle of mini wine & an extra bottle of water. My amenities weren't so great from the moment I opened the door. Since my room was pretty high up, the room was stifling & those views were blocked by a stainless steel mesh. FYI: your room requires a key card at all times if you're trying to use electricity, which includes air conditioning. The shower initially felt luxurious--spacious with a giant waterfall head and solid water pressure--followed by lush bath towels, but that impression faded once I noticed the pockets of mold and grime in the corners. Sleeping was also a challenge since walls are thin and anytime the guests next to me entered their room, it sounded like someone was entering mine, which kept me paranoid and on high alert. Rooftop: the rooftop not only offers panoramic views of Barcelona, but also has a bar and pool, though hard to even suggest the pool is an amenity since it's more so for aesthetic than functionality. On the roof, it's not an open floor plan, so you'll have to walk around the building to get a full 360 view. For those who are height deficient such as myself: prepare for obstructed views because of the high railings (great for safety, but not so much for those under 5'3).

Firstly, I highly recommend that you go the Airbnb or Always Easy route to get the full Barcelona experience. W Barcelona...horrible experience from start. We arrived early 2p after a long train ride...front desk informs us check-in at 3p and they're holding firm on that. Okay, fair we'll hang at the Wave Bar Terrace until we're called. 3:30p...we check on our room. Not ready...ooof my hubbie is falling asleep on lobby couch from traveling. 3:45...4p...4:15...4:24 okay your room is ready! Great, we head up to the room. Our luggage isn't to be found. I call concierge - hello, the check-in agent said our luggage would be here?! Concierge: We'll call you back. We cannot locate it. 2 min later - can you identify what your luggage looks like? Me thinking: do I have to do your job? This establishment is a disorganized mess. I describe our luggage details, ask if we need to come down personally and identify, and also mention slyly that our luggage has tags on them with our names- has anyone been savvy enough to try that angle? Luggage is finally found and brought up 15 min later. Meanwhile, our room has a broken bathroom sink (won't drain) and I see that the previous guests left a train of bread crumbs to the floor to ceiling windows that housekeeping failed to vacuum before our arrival. Heebie jeebies city as I am concerned what else might have been overlooked in the guest transition. I call to complain to concierge about experience, request a plumber, and housekeeping to address the sullied floor. Mgmt offers us 100 Euro room Credit to use at one of their restaurants for dinner tonight. I am feeling slightly better. We go to Salt (one of the W's beachfront restaurants). I order their iconic burger. First bite, I get a very hard, dime sized piece of bone/cartilage in my ground beef patty. My mind is screaming noooooooooo! I try to be cool about it and take another bite of my mile high burger. The second bite contains a lesser sized but still prominent (not able to chew) bone/cartilage. I send it back in exchange for a chicken citing my reasons for returning. Restaurant manager comes to our table, makes a sincere apology. 15 min later my hubby has finished his meal and I'm waiting for my 2nd chance. The manager brings out my chipper chicken saying that my meal this evening was on the house. Fast forward 20 min...bill comes I am still charged for my meal, just not for the first one. Ummmm, sorry is that best practice after you already told me it would be covered by restaurant? I inquire about my dinner line item as I pay and the manager explains that I should be okay, yes, because he charged me for the my replacement instead of both meals served to me. I am irritated beyond, beyond at thus juncture. I pay the bill in a defeated attitude (it was house money after all) however I am appalled and disgusted by this entire experience. Bottom line: clearly this hotel banks off of unassuming tourists. If you're going to go for luxury and pay top dollar - you assume the experience is going to be stellar. I am receiving service that aligns with a two star motel 6. Traveller beware: lodge elsewhere...even if you could use Starwood points and could stay for free- save them for another venue. Two nice things I can say are the room views and our charming, attentive, and gregarious waiter Carmen at the Wave Beach Terrace pre-check in.

Then i I felt like having a beverage in the BAR Area so they fabricated this story that it was "FILLED TO CAPACITY." Yet while I was standing there, I witnessed 6 other groups of people without Reservations were allowed to enter. Perhaps it is because of the Color of our Skin or where we are from??? I requested to speak to the General Manager of the Hotel and i was told NONE were available. A Supervisor of the Reception Desk did come outside to speak to us and she refused to go inside to confirm the BAR was 100% Filled to Capacity. I escalated these incidents to the Corporate Offices of the Marriott Corporation in the USA and received an UNaologetic letter stating the Senior Management Supported and Condones this behavior. The location is truly unbeatable - just a block away from Plaça de Catalunya, a couple of blocks from a major metro stop and several main bus lines, a few blocks from great shopping and with good casual food scattered throughout. It's a great central spot for sightseeing where you're primarily relying on public transit, but also quiet and safe if traveling solo. I booked a signature room through my travel agent, and was delighted that they allowed me to check in a couple of hours early AND upgraded me to a signature balcony room. The hotel is very cute snd colorful, with modern design. The room was clean and pretty spacious, and the balcony was such a nice touch! I liked opening the windows every afternoon and sitting on the chaise and reading. There are refillable water stations on each floor by the elevator, which was a small but big perk to me. Awesome water pressure and temperature, kind, attentive service by staff, and incredible rooftop bar made this a fun place to kick off my stay in Spain. Small gripes: As a short person was the bathroom tub was a bit tall for me to climb into and out of. There was not a true fridge/freezer in the room; the staff was kind enough to store something in their freezer for me but it felt too out of my way to ask them to do it too often for me. The lobby bar drinks were fine but nothing to write home about. Overall though this is such a great hotel and I'd absolutely stay here again. It feels luxe but had very reasonable rates, even right after Easter which is peak tourism. The rooftop bar is very much worth a visit, beautiful views of the city and a fun, lively vibe. I cannot recommend this hotel more!

Since it's in the narrow alleys of Gothic, arriving at the front door via taxi is difficult, especially if the streets are very crowded. However, it's pretty easy to walk to from the main street if you're OK with walking about five minutes. When we left for the airport, we were able to coordinate a taxi pick up with the front desk. Fortunately, it was also a sunday, so the streets were very empty. It took about 15 minutes for the taxi to arrive, but it was easy to get out of the narrow streets. The hotel itself is nice. Check-in is on the mezzanine level. Our room wasn't ready, but they were able to store our bags. We grabbed lunch at the rooftop restaurant and the food was objectively decent. The main draw of the rooftop restaurant is the incredible view where you can see all of Barcelona and the towering cathedrals. Service was friendly. On a different day, we tried there spritz hour, which seemed to be marketed as two spritzes for €12. However, we each got charged €12 which I think was the price on the menu anyway so I don't know what happened there. The hotel room was cozy. Bed was very comfortable. The layout was a bit odd if you imagine that the room is a U-shape, the bed is the bottom of the U, which makes sense. However the bathroom was split up with the toilet on the right side and the sink and shower on the left side so after you use the bathroom, you would have to walk to the other side of the hotel room to wash your hands. It's not like the room is big, but it's just kind of odd for layout, especially if like luggage is dispersed across the room and you have to walk through all that.

They said I received an upgraded room, but it was very small. Not even a chair to sit on. The only spot for luggage storage was too small for my big bag, so I had to keep it on the floor. The toilet is in a separate small room, but the sink and shower were in the main room, so not much privacy. The housekeeping had some misses as if I had used glasses in the room, it took them a couple of days to pick them up and they didn't always refresh the water in the room. There is a nightly reception with free red or white wine, but not enough seating for everyone. The pool area is beautiful with great views, but not enough loungers. The service at the pool was a little inconsistent. Sometimes they came by to take orders and sometimes they didn't. They have great frozen drinks and ice cream where they mix in the fruit you choose. The pool wasn't heated and I thought it was too cold. The rooftop restaurant is nice and I went for sunset, but either the sunset was behind the building or it just wasn't a good night for it. Cabs didn't want to drop off right at the hotel, so I usually had a 5 min walk or so from where they dropped off.

Our room faced towards the water and we enjoyed the views whenever we were there. We were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and were given a nice treat and note welcoming and congratulating us. So thoughful! We took advantage of the breakfast every morning, which had a nice selection of cooked entrees and buffet items.
