The owner owns other business and if you are parked there he will sneakingly get his guys to come take your car then you have to pay his tow company to get your car but he pretends and tells you that someone else towed it. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!! The city of DC called this towing company to remove my totaled car from the middle of the 395 bridge. The police officer asked the the tow guy if I could ride with him as he towed my car off the bridge into DC. The guy said yes, and when the officer left, he INSISTED I pay him $150 cash to travel less than a mile. I had no cash only card so he dropped me off on the side of the freeway with all of my stuff. Awful company. Called them today at 11:41 A.M. because one of my car's was not working. The dispatch guy Alex is very slow, I had to repeat myself 6 times to give him the Address, the description of the car, I nearly spent 20 minutes on the phone. Now 2 hours go by, no show, I call him, the Dispatch guy pretends like we never spoke, I tell him we just spoke I know your voice, its not like we spoke a year ago. Finally, the driver shows up a good guy named Mo, I tell him I want to take it to the shop near my house for convenience, when he calls his dispatch office, the same guy named Alex (I think he is Spanish), yells at him and says, "No take him to our shop" I said No, I am not going to Suitland, MD, and get stuck on Metro during rush hour. We go back and forth for an entire 20 minutes. Overall, the Driver was very friendly, his dispatch office and manager and owner were all rude, unprofessional, and only interested in cash. read more

Don't use this tow company, period, if you have a choice. These guys scratched my car during a tow, and are refusing to accept responsibility. My car had been at a tow-facility for a bit of time after an accident (towed from the scene of the crash). I wanted the car taken from the tow facility to a body-shop. As the insurance company involved with the accident had made an estimate at the tow facility, I wanted pictures there in case the insurance refused to cover damages related to the accident. I took pics just prior to the tow. The tow guys required a cash payment (I had already gone home), so I had to meet the tow-truck driver at the drop-off location. Having just closely inspected my car, I quickly noticed a new scratch on the rear passenger-side door. My pictures from just prior to the tow, also showed that area, and there was no scratch, prior to the tow I confronted the driver of the tow-truck, on-scene, and he flat-out denied any responsibility, despite my mentioning that I had pictures of the car before and after the tow. I have called this company multiple times to address the issue. Although they take my information and say they will get back to me, they do not. If you want a company that doesn't give a care about your vehicle and think they can damage your property and get away with it, make sure you pick Alex's Towing. read more

Apparently this company is also called America's Towing Company, or that is what the DC Police Dept told me when my car was impounded for parking in a handicap spot (sign was hidden in trees and it was dark at night!!). DC PD gave me the America tow company phone number which is out of service. Apparently this company drives about the district and seems to know who got ticketed and will haul your car into their lot. Since I had the address from DC PD i figured out it was also Alex's Towing company. I called to spring my car, and they take cash only! Got my car right away as I sure didn't want it left in that jam-packed lot filled with wrecks, abandoned vehicles and towed vehicles for more than a few hours. The guy was business-like but make sure you get a receipt and check your car isn't scratched! This lot is next to the Yes! grocery store on Georgia Ave NW, in case you can't figure out where it is. HE TOOK money from my folks after I towed the car with my truck. Money for services not rendered. The driver fallowed me for over a mile until i told him he was not going to tow the car for the third time. The driver went out of his way to rush and strong arm money for work he did not do. A woman backing out of the alley next to this company hit my car while I was stopped at a light. She refused to give me any info but a partial phone # saying she was part of some "special police" and that she needed to leave ASAP because her mechanic was following in her car. She then drove away and a car also from this lot followed. I tried to stop that car and a man driving confirmed he was her mechanic but refused to help. Not one person from that shop/company came to help or provide assistance. Instead, they joked to another company that I was "out of control". When the police showed up, all of them scattered. This is the first yelp review I have ever posted but I felt it necessary to share this info because I think it speaks to how untrustworthy and unprofessional they are. If I could rate any lower I would. Guy was not helpful and was rather rude after my boyfriend and I got into a car crash. He set a time limit when my boyfriend informed him about a different Towing company was moving his car. It also goes by Ricky's Towing. Only accepts cash. He wanted my boyfriend to leave his car for the night just to make more money. It wasn't worth the money. read more

Sorry about what happened to the other posters, but my experience was the best! Kenny showed up when I was told he would and delivered my vehicle to the correct dealership. He gets double extra kudos for his skill in retrieving my car from the lowest level of the underground parking garage where the employees park cars two and three deep...that's another story. Not reliable and shady. Signs I should have known this was bad news: 1. Only accepts cash 2. Did not seem to write down my address & phone number 3. Hastily said "driver's on its way" when I called an hour after tow truck was supposed to arrive. 4. 4 hours later, no tow truck. After a frantic call, the dispatcher tells me my phone is not working. I tested my phone out with my roommate. It works just fine..hmmmmm.... 5. 30 mins later towtruck arrives...drivers offer to have it towed to their shop instead of my service station of choice 6. A receipt does not seem to be common practice 7. 1 hour after the towtruck leaves my home, the driver calls me lost (even after I had given him the address and explained how to get there) and says he cannot find the drop box anywhere at the Audi dealer where I had told him to go. I point out to him that my car is a Volkswagen.... 8. 30 minutes later I call driver and he still is lost even though I told him how to get from the Audi dealer to the VW dealer 9. At midnight my car arrives to the service station. This whole fiasco lasted 6 hours. Not worth your time or energy. Pick a different company. read more

Really couldn't believe how terrible the service was-- their service is shoddy the point being unsafe. I was referred to Alex's through Geico, and you can bet I'm going to complain to Geico about Alex's service. The tow drunk driver's name was Jose. I spoke to someone named Adam Berry claiming the be the manager. I'm planning on calling back again because Adam didn't sound like the manager to me and I just want to make sure my complaint is heard by the right people. 1. The driver Jose was SUPER confused about the address. It's the city, so I park in an alley and I get that it can be kind of confusing. He claimed there were no cars of my make and model in the alley I directed him to, so I had to run out to physically point out the car to him because he somehow couldnt find the car on his own ( then he claimed there were two Subarus in the alley so he got confused) 2. He parked his tow truck in the alley blocking off the only means of entering/exiting and proceeded to successfully jump the car. A few blocked motorists were clearly unhappy about it and Jose just said "forget about it." One of the motorists got out of the car to approach Jose and he finally moved his truck. He left without saying anything to me at all (no "I'll be right back" or "just let it run for a while." ) He literally just ran away without saying anything to me. 3. I didn't know you're supposed to let a jumped car run for 45 minutes (never had battery trouble before and I'm not a mechanic so how would I know that?) so I turned off my car thinking it was all good and still wondering is Jose would be back to give me more details. But then I couldn't get it started again. I called Jose back on his cell phone. He said "That woman (the angry motorist) was talking so much mess that he had to get out of there" I asked if he was planning on coming back to the car and he said he couldnt because "he had things to do." I told him I turned the car off and it wouldn't start and he said "you're so stupid, don't you know you need to let it run before turning it off?" I said "well I'm not a mechanic, why didnt he tell me that" and he said I was so stupid for not knowing. At that point there was no real need to keep going so I asked for his name and his manager's name. He told me his first name but when I asked for his last name he said "What you need my last name for?" and i said "to call your manager and make a complaint" and he hung up. 4. I called Alex's Towing and asked to speak with a manager. Adam Berry said he was the manager and I explained everything. He got in touch with Jose and told me that Jose said that other motorists were asking him to move his truck (true) but that I was yelling at him and calling him stupid (uh, what? We barely said three words to each other!) I told him that the other motorists might have been calling him stupid for blocking their exit to the alley but that we never had a conversation beyond that. Adam told me that the job was considered "done" once the car is started and that I'd have to call Geico again to get any further service. Luckily, Geico is pretty helpful and they're sending out someone else, but BE WARNED. These people are sleazy and provide service that I think borders on unsafe. I'm lucky that this happened during the day. I can't imagine being a woman alone in the middle of a DC alley being left by my tow truck driver at night like that. read more

This service is the worst I've ever experienced in a tow truck company. I waited over an 1 hour and a half before they called me to say that they didn't have the right location of where my vehicle was located. Before I received a call back, I called the dispatcher and he had a bad attitude when I asked for an ETA. Once I gave him my vehicle description, he informed me that it would take another hour and a half and slammed the phone down. They are very rude and unprofessional, I usually don't take the time to write bad reviews, I just don't utilize that service No more. But I felt the need to share my bad experience. read more

Never used them but was almost killed earlier today by an empty tow truck of theirs that precipitously swerved around a car blocking it's path so that I had to veer to nearly onto the sidewalk not to be sideswiped, fast and hard. just terrible. They towed the car to the wrong location. We instructed them to tow our car to Saturn of Fairfax and provided the exact street address. It was after hours so they were to drop the keys in the dealership's drop box. The driver towed the car to Subaru of Fairfax, which is down the street. I discovered the car was missing the next day when I called the Saturn dealership and they said there was no sign of the car. Fortunately, the Subaru dealership called about the car and was kind enough to tow the car down the street to the Saturn dealership. This was after the tow company got into a dispute with our insurance company (who ordered the tow) over payment and showed up at my house at 11:30 at night and demanded payment in cash. read more

i have been using alexs towing for the past three years. They are the top tow prvider for DCMPD. i have never had any problems with service or the drivers. They have always been very professional and I am supprized that somebody had such a bad experiance. i would suggest that if you have any problems that you contact the owner and let him know. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. Just like the previous reviewer said, KEVIN said a driver was on his way in about 80 minutes. Three hours later after sitting in 40 degree weather, I called and was told the call was canceled 7 minutes after my insurance company called because no one was at the location I stated. Obviously that was not the case. Then they proceeded to add onto the lie by stating my insurance company called me several times with no answer. Funny when I called my insurance back they had no knowledge of this. So 5 hours later when the driver got there, he himself told me I should have requested another towing company.
