It was a day I had been planning with the wife, we have been hitting the grind stone but it's been difficult not seeing each other. So, I planned a day of wine tastings. This was one of the stops for the day. What I was surprised by, was how many people were here. This is a real hopping place! The tasting room has memorabilia, articles, and kitschy things for decorations. It was cute little set up. The set up was kind of odd with a bar for the tastings, the person at the desk kept going back and forth between a back room and to the bar when dealing with credit cards and cash. It made the tasting a little slow. But she was charming and delightful. I had high hopes for the wine itself. Some of the wines were good, I found a lot of them mediocre with an odd taste that I couldn't put my finger on. I didn't particularly care for a lot of them. I will say this: I am not a wine snob, I have no problem picking up a bottle of two buck chuck and enjoying that. That being said, this is my own preference and taste. I applaud this family for producing a local product, please do not let this review dissuade you from checking this place out. It's still a fun day activity for you and your wife, your friends, and/or your family. The whole point of a tasting is to try for yourself. Please support small, local businesses (like here) and check them out.

Despite its highway-side location, Alfalfa is a gem of a stop along 95N for the wine lover in you. Tastings run at $6 per flight (5 glasses, generous pours for a flight) or $5 per glass of your choice. Bottles range from $17-$25 from what I saw. The farmhouse red is a cab/malbec/something else blend (hooray!). Great outdoor seating area and definitely no noise pollution from the highway.

My wife and I were looking for a Saturday afternoon activity when we realized there are a few small wineries on the North Shore.

The Merrimack Valley weather makes the grape season short, but this winery and wine maker are awesome at making the very best of it, while also importing grapes for their bolder reds from Napa. On my first visit and tasting, I had to buy a case of their Snowflake White, Shade of Grey, and even their Grenache made with Napa grapes. Their tasting room and cheese tray is small but very cool and trendy. The service is on par and I will add better than those in California, with everyone knowing their wines impeccably and knowledgeably without using overly fluffy words. Parking can get crowded but is workable even in the NE early snow and ice. Will be back for another case soon!

We were able to sit on the patio and everyone has a great time enjoying their wine flights and charcuterie boards. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the experience at Mill River Winery was awesome and will definitely be back!

My friend and I opted for froses they make in house with their wines. They had complimentary popcorn for the people in their tasting room. They have bocce ball outside and tables with umbrellas for people to hangout in the vineyard. Our 2 year old was able to play and we brought a yard game to entertain him as well. The only wish was that there be frozen drinks or slushies for parents wishing to enjoy without the kiddo grabbing my cup jajaja! Overall recommend this place for a fun afternoon activity.

Sweet Baby has all different types of wines from bubbles, reds, whites, to dessert wines so everyone can find something they like. I mostly ordered sweet wines as that is my preference. Every wine was good, but my favorite was pear. It tasted exactly like pear without being too sweet. On the other hand, blueberry which my husband ordered at one point was overall sweet and tasted like liquid sugar. You can get flights, tastings, and glasses. I went for a tasting- 6 , 1oz pours (although I feel that the pours always look bigger then 1oz). The staff is always sweet and willing to tell you more about the wines and make recommendations when needed. Great local winery! In the summer they offer outside seating as well, some of the tables that have an umbrella covering them. When they are busy, parking in the back can be limited, and you may have to park in the grass when you first enter into the winery area.
