How I'd describe alfalfa: "Healthy, quality ingredients, tasty, fresh!" 1. Thai Steak Plate: My stripsteak had a nice charbroiled flavor, sliced thinly and cooked well done. I normally prefer med rare but it didn't take away from my enjoyment. The chimichurri paired really well, but could have been a tad saltier. The broccolini was cooked well and the cucumber salad added a nice fresh bite too. Pretty balanced in flavor and overall enjoyable! 2. Matcha Glow smoothie The smoothie did not taste anything of matcha and was way too lukewarm and thick for my enjoyment. Seating was also a bit sparse inside with only 3 tables, seems to mainly prioritize to go orders + the large amount of outdoor seating which is nice when the weather cooperates! The ambiance inside this restaurant compared to their other location is a bit soulless and corporate IMO :/ for example I wouldn't have ever guessed Alfalfa is a local Hoboken born business so I'm kind of disappointed they didn't try to lean more into that and highlight it in their theming! read more

Great Alfalfa location with indoor and outdoor seating. Indoors sat around 8 people, and outside there were a few tables. The interior is clean with eye catching displays of merch and items to buy. The service was great and the cashier was very friendly, offering recommendations. Ended up just doing a quick stop with a Cappuccino and donut. Alfalfa has perfected the Big Salad and I rarely want to go anywhere else for exactly that. Their uptown Hoboken location has been a long time favorite, but now that they have expanded to downtown Hoboken as well as JC (and also Princeton!!!!) there is even more big salads to love. I usually will always get the sweet pear salad if it is on the menu since it is seasonal but if not, the Greek salad the Sunflower salad are also delicious. And I will almost always add chicken. And boom, the perfect lunch. On my last visit to this location, I opted for the Sunflower as a wrap for the first time and it's just as delicious. I am a notoriously messy eater, so this was not the most ideal meal for me to be eating out in public. But that's no ones fault but myself. The Sunflower comes with the classic Alfalfa leafy mix of a few different greens, avocado, walnuts, chickpeas, apples, sunflower seeds, quinoa, and a really great balsamic dressing. It might be my new go to. I also sometimes will get the ginger turmeric iced tea if I need something cold, but their lattes are delicious and all of the locations have self service water canisters. Like their others locs, this new spot downtown is great for grab and go (order ahead) but also grabbing a table and the wifi password and staying for a bit for some remote work. This location used to be an old general store, and while I miss it, it's definitely been replaced by a local favorite. read more

In addition to hearty chunks of chicken, It was topped with black beans, corn, grape tomatoes, tortilla chips and Oaxaca cheese. Location is cute. Staff is super nice. Ordered the spicy Caesar wrap. The wrap is supposed to be a dollar cheaper than the salad, but it was only $.50 less when they rang me up. They also ran out of one of the ingredients in the wrap and compensated another guest who ordered via the app with a free drink, which was nice, but they didn't offer me anything since I ordered in person. I got about five small pieces of chicken. It was very overpriced and very disappointing. The staff did step up and make it right. All my friends rave about this place, maybe it was just an off day but probably won't be returning for the nearly $17 I paid for the chicken wrap that was 90% croutons. read more

I absolutely love this location, it's so much more convenient! I've had two salads from Alfalfa recently, their Greek salad and a custom salad with green goddess dressing. Both were great and I like that you can also get any salad as a wrap, which my fella prefers. Ordering ahead and picking up has been a very smooth process and my order was ready by the time I arrived to pick-up. I also like that the portion size is generous. Love love love Alfalfa! I regular the uptown location but over the summer I've picked up lunch here as I worked at a neighbor business in the summertime and even brought my best friend who was visiting and she also loved it as well. The service is great, as expected - welcoming and friendly faces. The ambiance is pretty chill, smaller than the uptown location but still a great spot if you can grab a seat inside or outside during the warmer weather. Salads are typically my go to here with the occasional gf donut. Picked up to go salads from this location for the first time. I was down the street getting a hair cut, otherwise the uptown location is closer to my house. I ordered online like I normally do and my order was ready at my scheduled Pick up time. The downtown location has a bunch of outdoor tables and a cute pick up window. I didn't actually go all the way inside or to the front door since I used the pick up window. The girl working was super friendly and she corrected my salad dressing order since I selected the wrong one by mistake. The salads were just as good as the uptown location and maybe a slightly heartier portion. Still very much a fan of alfalfa's salad even as the prices going to go up! Alfalfa fan here! Decided to stop by the downtown Hoboken location. It's small but cute. It reminds me of an Alfalfa express compared to the uptown one. Paying homage to the general store that was there was a nice touch. I got a Peruvian Chicken salad and it was just ok. Not Alfalfas best work and It seems the salads have gotten a little smaller in general. I still like the fact that they have one downtown. I finally made it in to the new Downtown Hoboken Alfalfa location recently, where I built my own salad for takeout. The location was bright, spacious, and offered a really carefree vibe. I was able to place my order using a massive touchscreen television, which was really helpful in selecting each of my customizations. After going through all of the details, I settled on the Alfalfa mix base (Chopped Romaine, Butter Lettuce, Shredded Kale), topped with basics of corn, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, roasted beets, and roasted sweet potato. I skipped the proteins, but added some "Premiums" at extra costs - avocado ($2), Kalamata olives ($1.75), and brussels sprouts ($2). I would have loved to toss in even more toppings, but I was floored that I was already at over $17 with tax. It definitely would have been a bit more affordable to get one of their composed salads from the menu, but I am particular about my ingredients. My salad was ready in at most 5 minutes, which was perfect, as I had been out on a lunchbreak from work. When I got home, I was pleased to see the size of the salad, the amount of included toppings, and the accuracy at which it had all been put together. My only disappointment was that the lettuce was wilted and browning, which was not because of dressing, as that was served on the side. While I like Alfafa and found all of the other ingredients super fresh, the lettuce was a downer. read more

Alfalfa has been a staple in Hoboken for a few years now and always is a go to for a great lunch. Recently tried the downtown location to see if it matched the hype. The food, as always, was high quality and fresh. With an Alfalfa salad you know you are getting a healthy lunch without sacrificing taste. The Donuts are also delicious for those wanting some dessert! I love the location of the new store, as it right by the path and easy to get to. For those more downtown it is a real added convenience if you are a regular. I also thought the staff was extremely welcoming and friendly! An added bonus to a delicious meal. The outside features some new inviting fall décor, and the inside is a perfect spot to get some work done or to hang out for a bit to escape. When I got my salad I was wondering where all of the topings were. After eating about half of the lettuce on top, I noticed they had put all of the topings in the bottom, the lettuce on top, and they didn't mix it up. The space is so open and clean, I love that the environment is perfect if you want to do some work or have lunch with a friend. I recently moved out of Hoboken after 5 years & when I came back to visit a friend our first stop was to see the new downtown Alfalfa. I was so happy to have had an amazing experience, just as I always did uptown. The food was fantastic, the staff was great, and everything was very efficient. Since it was a weekday we brought our laptops to work while we enjoyed our breakfast burritos. The ancho potato burrito with the avocado tomatillo salsa was even better than I remembered. My friend wanted to try the salads as well so we ended up staying until we were hungry again for lunch!! She got the Dear Darla & I tried the Spicy Caesar- they were both DELICIOUS. The ingredients are always so fresh & the salads are the perfect size. We ended up splitting a lemon thyme donut as well and I couldn't believe how tasty it was.
