I'm loving the Armando Berriz team! I got in a car accident about a year ago (never been in one!) and I had no idea what to do. My boyfriend immediately found me a lawyer as this was a first for me and I made the best decision! I first called, made an appointment, and they immediately helped me. The office recommended a chiropractor to see me asap to make sure I was okay and then referred me to a Orthopedist. I then met with Armando who is the nicest and down to earth lawyer (person :) ) you will ever meet! The staff at the front were very welcoming and such a pleasure to work with. Before I met with Armando, I made sure to bring copies of my insurance and pictures (hard copies) of the car accident (which I highly suggest). In January 2019 my boyfriend and I were rear ended at a stop light and the other driver had no insurance. My boyfriend's car was totaled and we both had severe back and neck injuries. I immediately went to my chiropractor (and life-long family friend) located in Thousand Oaks who recommended me to Armando. The initial set-up was easy and he and his legal assistant Jaymie, quickly set me up to get multiple MRI's, visit a pain specialist and continue frequent chiropractor visits (3x/week). By September I was done treating as my MRI came back clean. It took multiple check-in emails before they submitted the claim to the insurance company and it all got worse from there. The medical bills were SO high, mainly due to the expensive Orthopedist Armando recommend I see and the contrast MRI that was later deemed unnecessary by both chiropractors at the office I went to, that it seemed I would walk away with less than Armando. Once the offer came in from the insurance company it was devastatingly low in comparison to the medical bills. I did my own research on negotiating medical bills and consulted another attorney to understand what was happening. When I asked follow-up questions, asked for clarity on why certain offices weren't willing to negotiate, or any insight into his process I was met with condescending remarks, like I was "smart to want to understand the whole picture" and he's never seen a young woman ask such intelligent questions. Once when asking for clarification on a medical bill Jaymie responded to me saying that she doesn't know what the codes mean, she googles them and that I should do the same and to have a "blessed day". Because the offer was less than I thought it would be, Armando suggested I take the case to arbitration, instead of trying to negotiate the bills any lower. Arbitration includes higher legal fees, more medical examinations, and frankly more time than it's worth and he knew that. He continually tried pushing me to accept the offer from the insurance company without making any attempts to negotiate the bills or give me a ballpark of what my portion of the settlement would be. My dad even offered to front the money to the medical offices if that's what the hold up was on his end. In conclusion, I was extremely disappointed in my experience working with Armando and Jaymie. It was clear they connected me with medical offices they were well acquainted with and raised prices astronomically which did not raise the offer from the insurance company and in turn, hurt my case. Armando and his team were not my partners through this very physically and emotionally taxing time in my life. All in all, most of my settlement went to medical bills and I received just slightly more than Armando did from this case. After thinking about this experience for some time I am most ashamed that I let Armando and his team tell me what to do with my body for their profit. To young women going through this experience: ask questions, speak up, and if you disagree with something they're asking you to do, don't do it! To Armando and your team, I am calling you in to do better and not to take advantage of those who don't know these systems like you do. Where to begin? I wish I could give six stars! Back in January 2014, my car was totaled by a drunk driver and I suffered a herniated disk in my lower back because of it. I didn't have health insurance at the time, so no doctor would help me. I was suffering and in terrible pain for weeks until I finally contacted John Neustadt (he was recommended by the chiropractor who diagnosed me) and he immediately got me into an excellent pain management center, who did wonders for my pain. That was his first priority, to get me as recovered and pain free as possible. I was so grateful. Before John, I was left to suffer as if NOTHING could be done for me. Once John took my case, I was immediately seen by doctors, and given what I needed. That was the biggest relief!
