After a stopping at a few restaurants with issues, we found this place and so happy we did. I have been on a Turkish good kick and this place hit the spot. Cute inside there is a second floor that has nice seats along the windows. Good service. The hummus with pastrami was nice and spicy. The Turkish bread was hot and perfect to have with the muhammara and abagannus. Overall it was quite good and I enjoyed any to go back to try some more delicious food.

    Appetizers

Efe is an amazing waiter. It was our first time having Turkish food. He walked us through the menu and suggested the Ali (Pittig-Spicy/Mild) as well as the muhammara and eggplant cold starters. All tasted great. I'll be back next time I visit Amsterdam

Evidence for a delivery with a missing third skewer. Very disappointing. :(

Got a delivery from this place with Uber eats. The menu said I would get a trio of skewers, however I've just got two at the price of €27. I mean, look at the photo I uploaded, where the heck is the third skewer?!? I'm not impressed with this place, and I wouldn't recommend it for delivery at all. Let's hope they'll do a better job at their restaurant.

We have dinner at Ali Ocakbasi every time we visit Amsterdam. The food and service is always outstanding. Our server Konstantinos is outstanding. I Highly recommend you ask for him to be your server. He provided us an outstanding experience with is service and personality. Inside the restaurant is very clean with great views outside.

As a Turkish, it's hard to find a restaurant that would match your expectations in Ams. Well, Ali Ocakbasi is answering our needs. They will first come with a big plate showing meze offers. These are little dishes to be ordered for the table and shared. Grill choices are all very good. For sure you should try raki to make the experience full. Prices are decent, yet quite expensive if you start comparing with prices in Turkey:)

Delicious meal here last week! J was in Amsterdam for work so I tagged along for a little mid week escape. I was craving a kebab and this place came up in my search. The space is inviting and the service was pretty good. I had the Kuzu Sis which was a lamb kebab that came with a salad and bulgur wheat side. It was a hearty amount of food and the lamb was really tasty. Would love to return.

Marinated beef cubes - Shashlik. The largest of the main courses.

I saw a sponsored ad on Instagram by this restaurant, and the ad looked so good, that I felt my mouth water and we got to this place 3 days later. We ordered 2 appetizers (feta cheese and the eggplant in yogurt), and as the main course marinated lamb cubes, and ground lamb and beef kebab. The main courses arrived with the side salad, bulgur, and lavash bread. The meat was divine! Really good! But sadly I agree with people who reviewed this place before me - the portions are smallish. We had to order one more main course - shashlik - marinated beef cubes - which was bigger than other two mains, to feel full. We also had two shots of raka which was a mistake as I woke up with a hangover today The flavors are fantastic, service was attentive, the ambiance is a bit loud, yet relaxed and inviting. Portions are on the smaller side, while prices for the main course are all above €22. I wouldn't call this place a good value at €100 for dinner for 2.

Very accommodating staff! Super friendly and very forthcoming. We had our tables reserved as they get quite busy. Ordered starters and they were quite big portions, not to mention too yummy. We were about to order two desserts when we were told it would be too heavy so it is better to settle for and try for one more after we were done! Impressive right? Definitely coming back here! Dont miss the turkish coffee, it is a must!

Wow what a fabulous restaurant. Excellent Turkish food. Everything is delicious. What we liked is that they brought the warm pillow breads and then came by with an assortment of cold starters to choose from. You pay for the starters but it's great to see them up close and envision which you'd like to eat and how much they give you (which is a lot). We had two entrees and both were excellent. A real gem of a restaurant in Amsterdam.

Made a reservation for Sunday night; while it wasn't super busy, I'd recommend making one just in case since it looked like only a couple tables were open. We ordered the babaganoush, the roasted mushrooms, and red lentil soup to start. Highly highly recommend the babaganoush. Note, it is not the typical blended eggplant, but chunkier. This doesn't sound super appealing, but trust me, this makes it so much better. Each bite has more flavor and texture this way. The soup and mushrooms were both great, but weren't standouts compared to the babaganoush. For our mains, we went with the sea bass and lamb chops. You might be able to tell from the photos, but the sea bass isn't how you typically have it in the states, where you get a slab of some fish. Instead, it's the whole fish so it's much smaller and it has EVERYTHING. I've had fish like this before so whatever, but I know there are people out there who are squeamish about having the fish head still on there with bones and stuff, so be warned! Though it'd be such a pity to let that stop you from trying it because it was amaaaaaazing. Lemon and mint seeped in every bite. They even stuffed it in the middle so the flavor wasn't just limited to the surface. The lamb was also perfectly cooked and mouthwateringly delicious. I read before coming here that Dutch people look down on eating with your hands. And I honestly tried to be sensitive forwards that. But omg it would've been a crime not to pick these up and gnaw on them like a friggin hyena. So I did #noregrets. Also care with a bunch of tasty sides - nom noms!! Didn't have enough room for dessert. Though something to note: not sure if it was bc it was a Sunday, but service wasn't particularly fast and we only got our mains at 910 pm after getting there at 745 pm. We didn't mind, but if you're in a rush, be aware. This might even be a Dutch thing; we were one of the last to arrive in our room, but we're on of the first to leave since basically everyone who got there before us were still sitting around and chatting long after we left. So...who knows! Anyway, it was super tasty and very affordable. Highly recommend!

It was just a 15 minute walk from our hotel, Marriott Amsterdam. The restaurant was lovely with white tablecloths and great service. Food was delicious! This restaurant is super cute and has a very nice second level that has tables indoor. On the lower level they have a patio which is right next to the canal and it has a beautiful set up. The service was amazing. Our waiters were very patient with questions, were caring and asked where we were from, and offered to take a family picture of us which we appreciated. From the start they bring a big platter of all the mezze available to your table and you get to pick which ones you want to have (prices are listed on the menu), they also bring a big basket of delicious Turkish bread which reminded me of a focaccia a little bit except a lot heartier and without the flavor of olive oil. We tried the hummus which was creamy and had a predominant flavor of cumin, the octopus which was very refreshing and flavorful, the tzatziki which was thick, refreshing and very creamy with a powerful garlic flavor, and the eggplant with tahini which was cooked to perfection, and just melted in your mouth. We shared a bottle of white wine which was really good and dry. For food we ordered: Sea bass fillet: two generously sized pieces of sea bass that were perfectly grilled and super flaky. They felt very healthy and fresh. Came with some salad on the side. Duck breast: super tender duck with a really nice flavor. The meat was soft, not chewy, and it felt pretty lean. Came with some rice pilaf that was also very well cooked and tasted really nicely. The combination of the duck, the fruit, the sauce and the rice was fantastic. Also generous portion. Sea bass with Turkish bouillabaisse: this dish was amazing!! The sea bass was flaky, and melted in your mouth. The sauce that it came with was also really flavorful and had some dill on top as well. Really enjoyed the other fruits de mer which came with the dish (shrimp, squid). Super decadent and filling! I used some of my leftover Turkish bread to soak up the sauce. Grilled chicken thigh: did not try it but my parents loved this dish! They said the chicken was very tender and that the sides were really good too (some greens, potatoes, and labneh). Overall really loved this place! I thought the service was splendid, the ambiance in the outside patio is unbeatable since you get your own private area along the canal, and the food was spectacular. 11/10 would recommend to anyone who is around the area and wants a place for a nice dinner!

I think my wife and I each got a coffee (hers was a Turkish coffee) which were of the normal small European size. Three of us split 2 entrees, which was about the right portion size. One of these was very reminiscent of a kubideh kabob in terms of the form and taste. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I think we just got still water here, but they may have tap water (you usually had to ask specifically for that, we noticed later). Prices were reasonable. I think they had a bar area which may get more traffic during dinner hours. They also had a restroom for customers which, as would be the norm, was down a narrow flight of stairs in a cellar area.
