Every person I encountered was kind and compassionate as well as very caring. His entire staff worked together efficiently to keep patience, patients efficiently moving through the process while still maintaining an excellent level of care. Dr. Venezia and his staff took care of all of my concerns. When I walked out the door my surgery was scheduled as well as my follow up visits after the surgery in October! This is what great health care looks like! Bravo, and kudos to all. Y'all hit it out of the park!

From the beginning Dr. Venezia has been patient and extremely informative in explaining my condition and the and risks associated with each of the surgical options he presented to me. I expected the worst possible outcome and I am pleased to say Dr. Venezia provided me with the best possible outcome that I could possibly experience. From talking with friends that had similar surgeries I was prepared mentally that I would be in significant pain and discomfort and other than dealing with muscle spasms and a sore throat each of which Dr. Venezia warned me about (and provided meds for) I've been feeling and doing great!!! Each step of the way his staff as well as the great staff at Morton Plant Hospital was there to support me. I would recommend Dr. Venezia in a heartbeat to anyone having spinal problems or needing spinal surgery. Thank you Doc! I feel very fortunate to have chosen you!

I knew something was amiss…read more I was scheduled for an injection on Friday and was instructed to fast beforehand. On Thursday, I called the office twice to confirm the time of my Friday appointment and left messages. No one returned my calls. Friday morning, I called again twice and left another message. Still no response. On Monday, I called to find out what had happened. Again, no return call. By Tuesday, after multiple unanswered messages, I was understandably frustrated and left a strongly worded message. Ashley then told me that I had cancelled Friday's appointment--which I absolutely had not. I called back and spoke with another staff member, who told me, "Sorry, doc is on vacation." So, I'm left wondering what actually happened. Either my appointment was cancelled because Dr. Gerges was overbooked/unavailable, or someone in the office cancelled it for another reason. What I do know is that I did not cancel it. Mistakes and scheduling problems happen. What I find unacceptable is repeatedly calling an office about a scheduled medical procedure, receiving no return calls, and then being told that I was the one who cancelled the appointment. A simple phone call explaining that the appointment needed to be rescheduled would have avoided this entire situation.

I write this review as I feel it is my obligation to disclose the aftercare I received, or lack of,…read moreafter having ACDF neck surgery from Dr. Koebbe. Nine days after the surgery I had a life-threatening ordeal which delayed me writing this review. After a car accident, which injured my neck, I was referred to Dr. Koebbe. I should have seen the red flags as I was told he was extremely busy, but I thought, aren't all good surgeons? He was pleasant, adamant about his diagnosis, but very rushed, he was holding his phone showing me my MRI pictures as he was walking out the door as he was running late. He was late for my appointment too (: Nevertheless, I made the decision to have the surgery with him. Beforehand, I was supposed to see him to go over some scans, recent MRIs I had done. I took the day off from work and drove to the Tampa office, only to be told by an assistant that he couldn't see me. He was too busy, again another Red Flag. I had the surgery and it seemingly went well until 9 days after when I got the worst headache of my life, headaches were not mentioned in the recovery process so I was baffled. My head was so bad I now had to take the strong meds. I called Dr. Koebbe's nurse and she asked me if it got worse when I sat up and I said no it is constant then I was told I had just had major surgery, pain is to be expected and to take the meds. I soldiered on as I thought this was part of the process, BIG MISTAKE. This could have cost me my life. I had no calls to check on me, I was vomiting, my head was blowing up, I had to go to the ER. At this point, I could not talk, see and was in so much pain. Dr. Koebbe did an angiogram and I was told I had a Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, a major brain bleed that led to a stroke. This was the last I would hear or see of Dr. Koebbe, he completely washed his hands of me. I was admitted into the Neuro ICU at Northside, the hospital he works out of. The nurses had trouble even reaching him there. There is no after-hours service, just a call center apologizing saying they have no way to reach them. I had an appointment to see Dr. Koebbe, of course he farmed this complicated case off to his assistant who was immature and could not handle the situation, she promised to follow up in a couple of days and of course crickets, but to her defense that was not her job, with the complexity at hand Dr Koebee should have taken the appointment. I was later admitted to Bayfront where they really did care and take my case serious, they were telling my family how fatal this could have been and the ramifications of the stroke and subarachnoid hemorrhage. I was helicoptered out to Orlando Medical Center, a trauma 1 hospital and was treated by phenomenal Drs and nurses and am now in recovery. I was in the hospital for two weeks and no one from his team, including Dr. Koebbe reached out. Supposedly he is a top neurologist and I was HIS patient but he completely left me when I needed him most. Total abandonment. They have not even been in touch about therapy for my surgery and paperwork sent to his office has been ignored. I guess if everything goes well, he's ok but what if.........Perhaps back in the day when he was not overwhelmed with a revolving door of patients, he was compassionate and you didn't feel like a number, now if you have a question or complication, he's abysmal and negligent and is way too busy to do individual consultations or follow ups. Fortunately, after my traumatic, near-death experience I am able to write this post, unfortunately, my neck is still in pain. I would be surprised if there is a rebuttal from Dr. Koebbe himself as he cannot possibly remember who I am. If you are reading this you are probably considering surgery please beware and get a doctor that cares and has time to dedicate to your injury as it is your body and life on the line.
